Chapter 51 - 51: Ten Million Ransom

Roman stayed in the living room, too anxious to bother with him. He kept worrying that Daniel would find out he was behind the kidnapping.

Upstairs, Kane checked every room, hoping to find Chantelle's belongings.

But there was nothing—no sign of his mother.

The house was filled with family photos, but only three people were in it.

It was as if his mother didn't exist.

Kane's small hands clenched into fists.

Mommy is beautiful and talented! How could they erase her like this?

Anger bubbled inside him.

In his frustration, he accidentally knocked over a stand-in Roman's study.

Clang!

The vase crashed to the floor, shattering into pieces.

Kane stared at the mess, feeling completely satisfied.

Roman, however, turned pale when he walked in and saw the destruction.

A sense of dread settled over him.

I spent years of hard-earned money on this antique vase! Even when the Bently family was struggling, I refused to sell it. Now, this little brat has destroyed it in seconds!

Fury surged through him. He was ready to teach Kane a lesson.

But to his dismay, the boy had already vanished.

"Rai! Come out this instant! Look at what you've done!" Roman bellowed, his voice echoing through the house.

With a sandal in hand, Roman stormed through the house, searching every room for Kane.

But Kane was already gone.

With his backpack strapped on, he had quietly slipped out of the Bently residence and hopped into a cab.

By the time Roman realized the boy had escaped, Kane was already on his way to Eastview Park.

There was no way he would let Roman get his hands on ten million dollars.

One day, all of Daddy's money will be mine anyway, Kane thought smugly. Why should I let someone else take it?

Thanks to his small size, he moved through the park unnoticed.

He quickly found the designated bin and saw two large suitcases beside it.

The money must be inside!

But then, a problem hit him—his tiny backpack couldn't hold ten million dollars.

Still, he refused to give up. If he didn't act fast, the money would end up in the hands of his mother's enemy.

Determined, he crawled out of the bushes and ran straight to the dustbin.

Waving his arm, he shouted, "Are the handsome Wilson guards here? I'm Railer from the Wilson family! You'll be rewarded if you send me back!"

His voice immediately caught the attention of the nearby Wilson guards, who were pretending to stroll through the park.

They had been waiting to capture the kidnapper when he came for the ransom.

"Rai!"

Daniel had just arrived at the park when he heard Kane's voice.

Swiftly, he ran toward him and pulled him into a tight embrace.

Kane rested his head on Daniel's shoulder and gently patted his back as if comforting him.

"I'm sorry, Rai. Daddy came late," Daniel said, his voice filled with guilt.

Kane looked up. "You won't have to give that person ten million dollars now that I'm back, right?"

Daniel let out a small chuckle. "Yeah."

"Doesn't that mean I helped Daddy save ten million dollars?" Kane asked, his eyes gleaming with mischief.

Daniel sighed. "I guess so."

Without a second thought, Kane grinned and asked shamelessly, "Then can you give me the money?"

"Of course!" Daniel agreed right away. He carried Kane to the car and asked, "What will you do with all that money, Rai?"

"I want to buy a house for Mommy!" Kane said excitedly.

"Mommy? Do you mean Kate?" Daniel asked, frowning.

"Kate is not my mommy. My mommy is much prettier than her! When I went to Grandpa's house, I saw that Mommy didn't even have a room. So, I'm going to buy her a house!" Kane explained.

Daniel hugged the boy tightly. He never hid the truth about his mother on purpose. He just assumed Kane didn't care since he never asked about his mom.

But he was wrong. Kane had always been concerned. His mother was Chantelle, not Kate!

"Okay! Daddy will give Rai all the money so he can buy a big house for Mommy!" Daniel said warmly, holding him closer. He thought Rai would be so happy if he knew his mommy was still alive. Maybe miracles do happen...

"Thank you, Daddy!" Kane hesitated before giving Daniel a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Did you say you went to Grandpa's house, Rai?" Daniel asked.

"Yeah. I was looking for you. When I got to the office building, I met Grandpa, and he said he'd buy me ice cream..." Kane said innocently, reaching for the bottle of warm chocolate milk in the car. He didn't mind that he had betrayed Roman.

Daniel's expression darkened when he realized Roman was the kidnapper. How dare you, Roman Bently? he thought.

Meanwhile, Chantelle spent the entire day at home, nursing her injured arm and battling a high fever.

She wasn't sure if the medications were making her so tired, but she slept most of the time.

She slept peacefully for the first time in a long while—without nightmares.

Feeling refreshed when she woke up, she decided to visit Railer.

As she headed downstairs, she ran into Calvin, who was holding some documents.

"You're awake, Ms. Chantelle! What a coincidence—we finally have some results!" Calvin said.

"Really?" Chantelle asked, showing her excitement. She walked over to the sofa, sat down, and flipped through the documents Calvin handed her.

"Roman Bently has sent us dozens of emails over the past two days. He's asking Summit Venture Corporation to invest in Bently Corporation to save it," Calvin explained.

"Are you this happy because Roman finally agreed to our conditions?" Chantelle guessed.

"That's right! Roman called about ten minutes ago. He said he would give us thirty percent of Bently Corporation's shares. You're about to become the company's biggest shareholder, Ms. Chantelle!" Calvin said excitedly.

Chantelle smiled. "That's interesting. Why did Roman suddenly change his mind? I thought he refused to give in."

"Don't get mad at what I'm about to say, Ms. Chantelle," Calvin said carefully.

Chantelle looked at him with suspicion. "What happened? Does this have something to do with me?"

"Roman kidnapped Kane today," Calvin muttered.

Chantelle jumped to her feet in shock. Anger flared in her eyes. "What did you just say?! Roman kidnapped Kane?"
