Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 194: Save Me, Mrs. Wilson
Chapter 194: Chapter 194: Save Me, Mrs. Wilson
Joseph looked down at her, and for once, there was a softness in his eyes.
"Oh, I see. Thanks for the heads-up. But let me be clear, even though I don’t have feelings for Daniel, I still won’t choose you. So stop wasting your time," Chantelle said plainly, leaving no chance for Joseph to misunderstand her.
She didn’t know what Joseph was trying to pull. But whatever it was, he had the wrong thought about her.
"How would you know if you don’t even give it a try? Don’t worry—Daniel might let you down, but I won’t," Joseph said, still holding onto her shoulders, trying to convince her.
Chantelle didn’t react right away. She simply raised her chin and looked him in the eye.
Her eyes were calm and clear.
"And how do I know you won’t? Men always say the right things. I’m not falling for it again."
She glanced toward the room. "Weren’t you waiting for Daniel? Then go enjoy your time with those women. I’m done here."
With that, Chantelle brushed his hands off her shoulders and walked away without looking back.
Still, Joseph wasn’t ready to give up.
He grabbed Chantelle and pulled her into the room.
His eyes stayed on her as he pointed at the man in the middle, who was surrounded by women. His tone was sharp as he uttered his next words.
"Why won’t you believe what’s right in front of you? He’s just like every other man—lustful and unworthy of your time. Why can’t you face the truth?"
"Look at him. Is that the man you said you love?"
As Joseph burst into the room with Chantelle, the whole place fell silent.
Dragged into the room, Chantelle followed the direction of Joseph’s finger.
She froze for a second.
Then, after a brief silence, she felt the urge to laugh.
"Erm... well, that’s not Daniel," she said, holding back a chuckle as she watched Ashton struggling to get away from these women.
"That’s it then. You finally see it. Daniel’s not the one for you. Glad you’ve come to your senses, Chantie," Joseph said proudly.
Fueled by emotion, Joseph was caught up in a twisted thrill.
But it didn’t last long.
His excitement vanished the moment Ashton cried out.
"Save me, Mrs. Wilson!"
"Alright!" Chantelle replied immediately. She pulled away from Joseph and walked straight ahead.
A sharp voice cut through the room.
"Stop it, all of you!"
One of the women snapped back, "We’re here because Mr. Wilson invited us. Who are you to ruin his fun?"
Chantelle pointed toward the doorway. "Mr. Wilson? Open your eyes and take a good look. The real Mr. Wilson is standing right there."
"Huh? R-Really?" one of the women stammered, confused.
"Believe me or not, it’s your choice. But Mr. Wilson doesn’t look happy. You should probably go talk your way out of this."
The women didn’t look convinced.
Ashton clutched Chantelle’s leg and cried.
"Mrs. Wilson... sob... sob... I didn’t know what to do. They tried to kiss me. I almost lost my first kiss..."
The women suddenly realized Chantelle might be telling the truth.
Their faces turned pale.
"Oops. Did we mistake him for someone else?" freēnovelkiss.com
"Come on, let’s get out of here..."
"Yeah, go find the real Mr. Wilson. If not, he’s going to explode."
Chantelle raised her voice from the back, causing more chaos.
"Useless trash, get lost! Go away!"
Chantelle soon heard Joseph shouting.
Poor ladies.
Not only did they kiss the wrong guy, but Joseph also embarrassed them.
"Ashton, come on. Let’s leave here. I’ll take you home," Chantelle said as she gently patted Ashton’s back.
"Thank you, Mrs. Wilson!" Ashton nodded and stood up.
Chantelle felt sorry for him.
He was a decent, well-dressed assistant. But now, his face was covered in lipstick marks, and his shirt was torn by those women.
He looked like a mess.
As she walked Ashton out, Chantelle saw those women sitting on the floor, crying and sobbing.
She couldn’t help but joke, "Wow, Joseph, you should’ve just played along with them. Eh, you were too harsh!"
Joseph hurriedly explained, "Chantie, you’ve got it wrong. I didn’t ask them to do that."
"I don’t believe you. But whatever. It already happened."
She shrugged like she didn’t care.
Joseph was fuming as he did not know how to explain things to her.
His perfect plan was completely ruined.
How disappointing! I wanted to ruin Daniel’s reputation but these bitches failed me!
"Oh, my wife. You’re here." Daniel walked down the stairs. He wore a simple black suit and looked as handsome as ever. His eyes were full of warmth as he looked at Chantelle.
He walked up to her, took off his blazer, and gently placed it over her shoulders.
"Thank you, my dear husband." Chantelle held the blazer, still warm from his body, and gave him a cheerful, teasing smile.
Joseph knew she was putting on a show, but he still couldn’t resist her smile.
He pictured himself reaching out to Chantelle and hugged her.
"You’re welcome, my love."
"Are you finished with your little act? It’s not convincing." Joseph said while gritting his teeth.
"I’m sorry. But showing love to our wives is a must, right, brother?"
"Brother?!" Chantelle was shocked.
They had the same last name. She should’ve realized it earlier.
But if they were brothers, why did they look nothing alike?
She had so many questions but kept them to herself.
"Let me introduce him to you. He’s my non-biological brother," Daniel said as he placed his hand on her shoulder. Then he looked straight at Joseph, trying to make him uncomfortable.
"Daniel Wilson, you!" Joseph growled, throwing sharp glances at Daniel.
Daniel had hit a nerve.
"Am I wrong, brother?"
"You’re right. We’re not blood-related, and I’m perfectly fine with that! You don’t need to call me brother."
Joseph glared at Daniel again, trying hard to control his fury.
"Joseph, believe it or not, I used to see you as my big brother," Daniel said, grinning at him.
"Pff, no one cares!" Joseph scoffed.
"You can say what you want. But if you ever bother my wife again, I won’t let it slide even if you were my brother."
"Haha, really? The little boy who used to trail behind me is now making threats? You don’t need to fight someone just to win a woman’s heart. That’s just foolish." Joseph chuckled with a hint of mockery.
Daniel didn’t react and he looked calm.
"I’ll win my wife’s heart, and as long as I’m here, you don’t stand a chance," he said with confidence.
