Chapter 13 - 13: Find That Woman In Ten Minutes

Kate realized this woman was trying to take all her money. She also wondered how she never knew that Mr. Wesley had any connection to her.

Chantelle wasn't really forcing her, though. "Ms. Kate, if you think the price is too high, just forget it! I'll repair the laptop myself. But I can't guarantee the candidate's name list inside the computer will be restored. The data might get changed."

Kate was furious after hearing her words, "You're threatening me!"

Chantelle smiled mockingly, "Oh, you finally noticed."

"Fine. You're taking advantage of me. You'd better pray you live long enough to spend all the money you've made," Kate said as she stormed out.

But deep down, she was scared and anxious.

She had only half a day to gather 400 million dollars.

The woman could expose all her wrongdoings, from Mr. Wesley to the fake donations.

If that happened, Kate would lose everything.

So, she had no choice but to do as the woman said.

Chantelle was happy because she had accomplished her goal.

She handed Calvin the voice recorder from her pocket and asked him to retrieve the security camera footage.

"Have someone keep an eye on Steve. Kate won't let him off that easily. We might get something else as a bonus."

"Yes, Ms. Chantelle."

Meanwhile, a cold atmosphere filled the Wilson residence.

Ever since Daniel saw the woman, also known as Chantelle, at the hospital, he had been locking himself in the study.

Daniel sat slumped in his black swivel chair, lost in his thoughts about what happened five years ago.

Five years ago, Chantelle murdered his grandfather, betrayed the Wilson family, and caused Kate serious harm.

The security camera footage had clearly shown the face of the murderer—a pregnant woman. It could only be Chantelle.

Daniel had all the evidence. He was furious and sent Chantelle to the police station, hoping she would pay for her actions.

But that night, she died, leaving only Rai behind.

Daniel wasn't happy that Chantelle died before she could face the consequences for Mr. Wesley's death.

But the appearance of that mysterious woman triggered memories of Chantelle, reigniting his hatred for her. His insomnia worsened, and yet he felt powerless.

The woman had a similar aura and eyes to Chantelle. She even have the same name with her.

Worse, she was at the cemetery on the anniversary of Mr. Wesley's death, and the fact that nothing could be found out about her made Daniel even more suspicious.

But there was no way she could be Chantelle—after all, Chantelle was supposed to be dead!

"Sir..."

Daniel was snapped back to reality by a knock on the door. He rubbed his finger between his eyebrows in frustration and said impatiently, "Come in!"

"We just got new information," Ashton reported. "Another man went missing along with Railer that day. It was Allen Morris."

"Allen Morris?" The name rang a bell for Daniel.

"Yes. He's Ms. Kate's assistant. According to people nearby, he was still with Ms. Kate when they went up the mountain. When Railer disappeared, he vanished too. There's something suspicious about him. But he works for Ms. Kate. Should we investigate him?"

"Yes! Investigate anyone who could threaten Rai's safety!"

"Understood!"

"Sir, there's one more thing," Ashton hesitated before continuing.

"Yes?" Daniel asked, his patience thinning.

"The extra layer of encryption on the cemetery's security camera footage was decrypted. It looks like someone is hacking the program remotely. We suspect it's the same person who decrypted the footage before. While tracking the source, we discovered the corrupted footage had been copied."

"Who did it?"

"The IP address was removed, but we found a lead. The location came from the hospital..."

"That mysterious woman?"

"We can't be sure yet, but she's definitely the most suspicious person."

It wasn't a major issue, but Ashton still reported it, thinking Daniel might be concerned about that woman.

"Where is that woman now?" Daniel asked.

"She was at the Global Philanthropy Committee's office an hour ago. But our men lost track of her ten minutes ago..."

Ashton glanced at his tablet and saw Chantelle's tracker go offline.

He gulped, feeling nervous, and looked at Daniel. I'm using the best technology available at the Wilson residence, yet I still lost her. This woman is tricky.

An eerie silence filled the room. Cold sweat started dripping down Ashton's forehead.

Just as Ashton was about to kneel and beg for forgiveness, Daniel said.

"Find that woman in ten minutes. Otherwise, you can go and dig your own grave."

"I'll go now!" Ashton quickly ran off.

Daniel shut his eyes. He sensed that the woman was here for a reason.

He wondered what she was looking for in the security footage and who she really was.

A few minutes later, Ashton called him, "Sir, I found her. She's at Western Hill Villa!"

Daniel stood up and left the study. "Let's go to Western Hill Villa!" he said.

Meanwhile, in the child's room, Kane was napping. By the time he woke up, it was already night.

He left the room and saw Daniel leaving with his men.

Noticing no one was around, Kane pulled out his phone and sent a message to his mother.

"Mommy! It's urgent! Daniel just left angrily with a group of people. I don't know if they're coming for you. Be careful!"

After sending the message to Chantelle, Kane took two selfies and sent those as well.

He then removed the cover on the back of his phone and pressed the red button inside until it beeped.

When he turned his phone back on, a map appeared on the screen, showing a red dot moving.

It was Daniel's location.

When Kane was taken to the hospital, he had planted the Little Bee, a stealth tracker Chantelle invented, on Daniel's car.

Kane guessed Daniel was likely going out to find his mother, and he couldn't let him bully her again.

Thinking quickly, Kane grabbed his little backpack and ran out the door.

At Western Hill Villa, Chantelle returned from the Easthan building and went into the sterile room where Railer was staying.

Russell told Chantelle that Railer had woken up once and looked around as if he were searching for her, but she hadn't come back yet.

When the nurse asked Railer what he was doing, he closed his eyes and went back to sleep.

Chantelle felt a pang of guilt. She sat on his bed, holding his hand, wanting to tell him she would always be there for him.
