Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 110 - : Take Us Home
Chapter 110 - 110: Take Us Home
Chantelle stared at him blankly.
Daniel walked up to them and pulled them into his arms.
"Are you okay, Chantelle?" he asked in a voice filled with worry.
"I... I'm fine. But you're hurt, and you're still bleeding... Does it hurt?" Her voice trembled as tears threatened to fall.
For some reason, the moment she saw Daniel approaching them, she felt her heart skip a beat. She knew they were finally safe.
To Chantelle, Daniel was like a savior, arriving just in time to pull them from the brink of death.
She reached out and gently touched his forehead.
Tears welled up in her eyes.
Daniel looked into her eyes and he suddenly passed out.
Daniel remembered the night he had been in a bad mood and went out for a drink. He got into a car accident and hurt his forehead.
Back then, Chantelle had touched his wound with trembling hands and asked the same question. Her eyes had been filled with tears.
Her voice had carried deep concern, but he refused to believe it. He thought she was only pretending.
He convinced himself she was a liar with exceptional acting skills.
As he snapped back to reality, a dull pain filled his chest. Instinctively, he pulled Chantelle into a tight hug again.
"Thank goodness you're fine, Chantelle!" he said with his voice full of relief.
In his heart, he whispered to himself again, "Thank goodness you're alright. Now I have a chance to make things right."
For the first time in a long while, Chantelle didn't pull away. Instead, she wrapped her arms around him and held him tightly.
The familiar woody scent from his body was the same one she had once loved and longed for.
"I'll just treat this hug as a well-deserved reward after surviving that ordeal," Chantelle thought to herself. She suddenly felt her mood lightened.
Kane watched his parents being affectionate to each other and his eyes sparkled as he looked at his father.
His dad had been so cool earlier! Just like a superhero!
Kane loved the thought of his father as a superhero, so he decided not to interrupt their special moment.
But they had been hugging for so long, completely ignoring him. Kane wanted a hug too!
He hesitated for a moment, then finally got up. With his short legs moving as fast as they could, he ran toward them and wrapped his arms around Daniel's thigh.
"Daddy!"
Daniel felt a sudden weight on his leg. He reluctantly let go of Chantelle.
"Are you okay, Railer? Come here!" he said, bending down to pick up Kane.
Chantelle looked at her son. She realized she had let her guard down and got caught in the moment.
After comforting Kane, she narrowed her eyes at the damaged black car nearby.
As if reading her mind, Daniel said, "The driver already ran off. But he's injured, so he shouldn't have gone far. Ashton is coming up soon to capture him."
Chantelle frowned. "How did you find us? This place is far from the warehouse on the mountain, and it's not an easy path to follow."
Daniel smiled awkwardly. "Oh, that's easy. I planted a bug on Railer."
Kane froze in shock when he heard Daniel's words.
Huh? Did Daddy plant a bug on me? When? Where?
Kane felt anxious as he tried to figure out when he had unknowingly fallen into his father's trap.
Chantelle felt nervous for a moment after hearing Daniel's answer.
She had no idea when he started tracking Kane or if the boy's real identity had been exposed.
She felt a little distress but quickly brushed it off. Now wasn't the time to dwell on it.
"You're hurt. Let's go back."
"Okay!" Daniel replied in an unexpectedly gentle tone.
Chantelle avoided his captivating eyes and took the wheel.
Just then, Calvin arrived.
"Ms. Chantelle!"
"Are you okay? I'm sorry I'm late!" he said in a worried tone.
When Calvin saw the wrecked car, he quickly got out of his car and rushed to Chantelle.
Seeing Chantelle's disheveled state, Calvin couldn't help but blame himself for not looking for her sooner.
His face had gone pale when he heard the explosion earlier.
"I'm fine. You came at the right time. Take us home."
"Come with us, Mr. Wilson," Chantelle added.
The three of them got into the back seat of the car as Calvin took the wheel.
Even though the front passenger seat was empty, Chantelle felt annoyed that Daniel squeezed into the back with them. But she let it slide since he had saved their lives today.
Besides, they were leaving soon anyway.
As she thought about it, she couldn't help but glance at the man beside her.
He was probably exhausted after everything that had happened.
With Kane on his lap, Daniel leaned against the backseat with his eyes closed. He had fallen into a deep sleep.
The evening sun streamed through the car window, casting a warm, orange glow on his face.
Kane sat quietly on Daniel's lap and his mind filled with questions about how his scumbag father had tracked him down.
In the past, his mother had tried and failed to find him. Yet Daniel had done it so easily. How?
He had checked his body earlier and found nothing unusual.

He needed answers. No matter how much he thought about it, he couldn't figure it out.
Unable to hold back any longer, he gave in and asked, "Daddy..."
"Are you asleep, Daddy?"
"Don't bother your daddy, Kane. Let him rest. Come to mommy," Chantelle whispered as she reached out and placed Kane on her lap.
Just then, Daniel's brows furrowed slightly. Even in his foggy state, it seemed like a sudden thought had struck him.
Kane?
Mommy?!
Had they met before?
Daniel slumped against the car seat with his mind hazy. His head throbbed so much that he struggled to open his eyes.
Voices echoed around him, but he couldn't tell if they were real or just part of a dream.
As the car moved, his surroundings became blurry. Eventually, he lost consciousness again.
Chantelle lifted Kane onto her lap and noticed Daniel wasn't moving.
Worried, she reached out and touched his forehead.
It felt warm.
Blood still trickled from his forehead, and the backseat was already soaked.
Seeing the bloodstains, Chantelle became anxious and quickly asked Calvin for the medkit.
Why hadn't she noticed sooner? The other car's hood was completely wrecked. There was no way Daniel had walked away without injuries!
She had foolishly assumed it was just a small bump on his head.
She suddenly felt guilty as she moved Kane to the seat beside her and began treating Daniel's wounds.
