Chapter 105 - 105: A Blood Feud

"What kind of nonsense are you talking about? Chantelle is injured!"

"What? You're not here to show off?"

"Of course not!" Daniel said, getting impatient with Philip's lack of understanding.

"Heh, it's a misunderstanding. It's all just a misunderstanding..." Philip suddenly laughed awkwardly.

"What do you mean by fragile?" Chantelle's voice suddenly came from behind them.

Both of them were startled.

"Has your wound opened? Your arm is fragile. Let me take a look." Philip said seriously as he began checking Chantelle's arm.

Chantelle didn't completely trust him, but treating her wound was more important, so she let it go.

Philip took out a first-aid kit and started treating Chantelle's wound.

Ashton took Calvin downstairs to the lab to treat him.

Chantelle's wound had reopened because there was another fracture in her arm.

Philip was surprised by her endurance.

A normal person couldn't handle such a serious injury, but she remained calm. Her pain tolerance was as impressive as Daniel's.

"There's a fracture in the bone. Regular nano bandages won't work. It has to be fixed with a steel plate. I have a compressed version. It should work."

Philip took out a soft steel ring that looked like an armguard.

After activating it, it wrapped onto Chantelle's bandaged arm. The steel ring fit her arm perfectly as it made contact, and she felt an invisible support around her arm.

The pain in her wound was less intense.

"What is this? This is incredible," Chantelle exclaimed.

She had expected to undergo surgery to install a heavy steel frame, but instead, it felt like something that fit her arm like a clothes.

"It's my invention. The Super Thin Fixation Ring. Amazing, right?"

"It's incredible. It's my first time seeing this technology. Philip, you're really a genius in the medical field."

"Thank you," Philip said with a smile.

Before he could finish, Daniel stood between him and Chantelle. "Since you need a fixation device, you need to be careful."

"Yes. It's all thanks to Mr. Wilson and you, Philip."

Chantelle realized Daniel had purposely stood there to stop her from talking to Philip. She peeked around him and waved toward Philip.

Philip sensed danger and quickly retreated to his room to change.

Now, only Chantelle and Daniel were left in the spacious living room.

Daniel, without asking for permission, used Philip's kitchen to make a glass of hot milk for Chantelle.

Chocolate-flavored milk. It was her favorite.

Chantelle was surprised when she took the glass. She thanked him and then changed the subject.

It was also the reason why she hadn't left yet.

"Mr. Wilson, after interrogating the assassin, do you know who is responsible?" Chantelle asked Daniel seriously.

"I don't."

"Seriously?"

"I don't need to know. All I know is that the person will soon be assassinated by Lone Wolf, no matter who they are."

"You made a deal with Lone Wolf?"

"That's impossible. No matter how much you pay him, Lone Wolf always honors his contract with his employer. Unless..." Chantelle added.

"Unless I have a bargaining chip that he can't refuse."

"You do? What is it?" Chantelle asked, frowning deeply.

"Ms. Chantelle, you probably don't know this, but the person you caught was Lone Wolf's brother, Lone Fox."

"Should I feel honored that Lone Wolf actually sent his brother to assassinate me?"

Joseph was really a madman. He just wanted her dead. Three years ago, he did the same. Now, it was even worse.

"Do you know who is behind all this?"

"Do you believe my words?" Chantelle asked, looking at him, hoping for an answer. He never believed her before, no matter what.

"I do."

"Someone from the Wilson family. Joseph Wilson. I think he is your cousin. I'm sorry that you need to ruin your family's plans because of me."

Chantelle didn't hide anything and directly mentioned Joseph's name. She knew Daniel would find out eventually, so it was better to tell him now.

If Daniel had to side with his cousin, it would be understandable. They were family, after all.

"Joseph..." Daniel was angry but quickly calmed himself.

"Mr. Wilson, do you regret saving me now? You should take back your order before it's too late. You can't make enemies with your family because of me."

Chantelle watched Daniel's reaction and began to stand up, feeling nervous. She thought she would probably end up as Daniel's enemy no matter what.

"Chantelle, do you have a feud with Joseph?" Daniel asked, grabbing her wrist as she stood up.

"Yes. A blood feud."

"Mr. Wilson, are you planning to get revenge for your cousin?" Chantelle tried to shake him off, but his grip was firm.

"It's possible. Unfortunately, I have a feud with him too. Don't you think we're a match made in heaven?"

Daniel stood up and pulled Chantelle into his arms, swiftly holding her waist when he saw her nervous reaction.

Daniel's deep voice and warm breath made Chantelle's emotions rouse. At the same time, she felt relieved.

"It seems like you're not too close with Joseph," Chantelle said, smiling at Daniel.

"Yup, he might even be my enemy. He's not really family to me, and you're not my enemy. So go ahead if you want to take revenge on him," Daniel teased her.

"Oh, you are such a heartless jerk!" Chantelle said with a grin.

She wrapped her arms around Daniel and gave him a playful smile.

Daniel's heart skipped a beat as Chantelle's lips got closer, but she quickly slipped out of his arms.

What a sly little fox!

"You're more heartless than I am, Miss Chantelle Bently!" In that moment, Daniel felt like he would do anything for Chantelle, even if it meant risking his life.

"Daniel Wilson, thank you for not being my enemy," Chantelle said.

Philip went straight to the research center after changing his clothes.

His eyes widened in fear when he saw Lone Fox's body, covered in bloody holes.

He couldn't help but compare it to the terrifying scenes from the murder drama he had watched last night.

"What did he do to make Daniel do this to him?" Philip asked, gesturing for the bodyguards to bring Lone Fox into the room while he stood by the door and wanted to get more information from Ashton.

It had been a while since he saw Daniel this angry.

"He tried to kill Chantelle and got caught. So..." Ashton replied.

"Ah, I see. Daniel only loses his cool when it's about Chantelle. Do you still want me to save him?" Philip asked.
