Most Powerful Entity in Academy-Chapter 49: Cliche
Artemis is staying in her own dorm room right now. I asked for a few days of solitude because a small amount of divinity is leaking out of me.
’Can you stop this, Gabriel?’
’It’s a tiny amount, like trying to hold a single atom with your hand. It’s hard, and I refuse.’
’Stubborn pigeon.’
’Enemy of God.’
Ever since I fused the tarot cards with my soul, things have been getting better.
I can feel my growth every single day.
At the academy, I’m completely relaxed in every class; the professors can’t keep up with me anymore.
They even wanted to graduate me early and send me away.
The reason? I’m already a 6th-tier spellblade swordmaster; I’m on the level of the strongest professors.
During the break, I was just killing time.
"Hey bitch! Stay away from Prince Hans!" I heard a voice.
Out of curiosity, I walked over and saw Lara cornered by three girls.
WTF!!!!
"Are you trying to steal Lady Victoria’s fiancé, you slut?" Extra No.1 spoke and yanked Lara by the hair.
Oh my god, did I stumble into the heroine being bullied by villainesses’ minions?
It reeks of cliché.
"Ah, please leave me alone..." Lara sounded like she was in pain, but Extra No.2 and No.3 were holding her arms.
Extra No.1 punched Lara in the stomach.
Pathetic.
This is exactly why I hate otome game characters.
"Aren’t you going to interfere, Raul?" I heard Gabriel’s voice from inside me.
She wanted to help someone who was being wronged.
But I’m no saint.
"Aw hell nah! Lara is more than strong enough to defend herself, and I’m sure she can sense me."
Yet no matter how much they hit her, Lara didn’t even seem to feel pain.
The ignorance of these extras never ceases to amaze me.
I’m certain Victoria didn’t order this; they’re probably just using her name to confuse Lara.
I can see fate itself trying to fix its own mess and keep me away from Lara.
’Do you see what I’m seeing, Gabriel?’
’Yes. Fate doesn’t want you to intervene. Not YHWH; it has to be the three Greek fate goddesses.’
’How about we beat them up one day?’
’With pleasure...’
Gabriel can’t swear; if she did, she’d fall.
Even God didn’t immediately kick Lucifer out of heaven. All he wanted was for Angels to bow to human souls.
Lucifer refused; his pride wouldn’t allow it.
Thus, the one born of light fell into darkness.
Afterward, God gave him a chance at redemption.
The prophet Moses met him, and Satan, or call it Lucifer, said he wanted to ask for forgiveness, but God told Lucifer through Moses to go to Adam’s grave, bow, and beg for pardon.
Lucifer refused again and said, "I didn’t bow to him when he was alive; shall I bow to him when he’s dead?"
Still, time was granted to Lucifer.
What I’m trying to say is: God is merciful.
If Gabriel does something wrong, she can still ask for forgiveness.
Angels are perfect beings whose only purpose is God, so even if she sinned, she could be forgiven.
My thoughts were interrupted by someone crashing into me: "YOU BASTARDS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO LARA?!"
It was Hans.
He ran to Lara and shoved the extras aside.
Lara was on the ground; there were a few slap marks on her face, her clothes, and her hair were a mess. "WTF! WHY DIDN’T YOU HELP HER?!"
Hans shouted at me. "I don’t have to."
Hans’s face twisted in rage, but Lara grabbed his sleeve. "Don’t touch him, Hans. It’s not his fault..."
Hans gently stroked Lara’s hair.
’Should I kill these motherfuckers?’
’No, don’t,’ I could hear Gabriel sigh inside me.
"Did Victoria order you to do this?" Hans turned around.
The extras were standing but frozen in fear.
They’re all human and live in Valentine, too. "Her Highness Lady Victoria knows nothing about this."
"SHUT THE FUCK UP! STOP LYING!" Hans let go of Lara and started walking toward the extras.
I took a step forward, but then a loud slap rang out.
Extra No.1 had been slapped. "Think about what’ll happen if I report you to the academy! Your life outside is over."
"Hans, stop, please. It’s not their fault," Lara said softly as she slowly stood up.
Watching all this drama makes me want to puke.
Lara got involved because she noticed me walking toward Hans. "Hey bitch, want to fight someone in your own league?"
"Do you even realize what you just said?" Hans dropped the extras and charged at me, completely insane.
"Don’t kill him," Gabriel was scared I’d murder him if he came at me.
"I’ll make him wish he was dead."
"STOP! DON’T!" Lara screamed.
No matter how much Lara tried to hold Hans back, it was useless.
He took off his glove and threw it in my face. "I challenge you to a duel!"
Before he could finish the sentence, I landed a right cross.
A loud crack; his skull definitely broke.
I’m not in the mood for this nonsense. "Duel’s over. Ladies, come here."
"Y-yes..." They slowly approached, staring at Hans, whose face was scraped against the wall.
"Want an interesting piece of information?" I said the extras were shaking.
Their trembling voices reached my ears. "Yeah, sure..."
"An adult human has roughly 207 bones. I have experience breaking every single one without killing the person. If you do things Victoria didn’t order, I won’t hesitate to demonstrate."
A few drops of liquid ran down Extra No.2’s legs; I guess I scared her too much. "Now get the fuck out!"
The moment I said that, they ran for their lives.
Only three people remained in the alley: me, Lara, and Hans.
Lara checked on Hans. "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!"
"He shouldn’t have messed with me," I answered indifferently.
Lara touched Hans; I could see his bones healing.
He’d stay unconscious for a while, but he’d live.
"DON’T INTERFERE WITH MY BUSINESS!" Lara drew her sword and came at me. "Even if I can’t beat you, I’ll fight."
She stood right in front of me, sword lowered, but the moment I moved, she looked ready to kill.
"Lara, why are you creating misunderstandings and making Victoria look guilty?" I asked, but she pointed her sword straight at my heart.
One step and she’d kill me instantly.
The energy radiating from her showed she was approaching the 4th tier.
"DON’T STICK YOUR NOSE INTO THINGS YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND."
I feel like I’m dealing with a little kid.
I sighed, looked at her trembling hand, and took a step forward.
The sword pierced my heart.
"Are you insane?!" I heard Gabriel screaming inside me.
I walked forward until the hilt; the blade came out of my back, blood dripping to the ground.
"Never draw your sword without the resolve to attack, or I’ll erase you. I don’t care if you’re the heroine."
Lara let go of the hilt and started shaking.
She stumbled back and fell.
Her eyes were huge.
To her, a sword through the chest should kill anyone, but nothing happened to Raul.
I grabbed the hilt, pulled the sword out, and stabbed it into the ground.
"You... you..." Lara pointed at me; I think I just gave the heroine PTSD.
I slowly crouched down and met her eyes. "If you want to kill me, your hands better not shake! I can’t be killed. Come at me with everything you’ve got, but let me warn you: I’m a tougher opponent than Lucifer. If you don’t want your soul ripped out and turned into a ball for me to kick at Tiamat, stop acting like an idiot. Understood?"
Lara nodded frantically.
I slowly stood up and turned my back to her.
"I don’t care about your relationships with Hans, Victoria, or whatever boys you love... but if you deliberately hurt Victoria, the only thing that’ll save you is hearing God’s voice begging me to spare you."
I cast a cleaning spell; all the blood and torn clothes returned to perfect condition, even cleaner than before, and I continued walking through the academy city.
Even if Lara is the main character of this game I played, I have no mercy for anyone who gets on my nerves.
Excessive mercy is a betrayal of the self.
There’s a saying: the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
"You were too harsh," Gabriel said, playing the angel on my shoulder.
I don’t need a devil; I’m enough on my own.
Wandering the academy streets aimlessly isn’t my thing; physical training class is coming up soon.
"No, Gabriel, that was necessary. My relationship with that girl is shallow, but she used to work for me, and her fate is really shitty..."
Yes, as I mentioned before, even though this world has otome settings, it’s extremely close to dark fantasy.
And just how disgusting can dark fantasy get...?
The romance and harem stuff really makes you feel like you’re in an otome game, but the real hell begins after the academy ends.
That’s when the darkness of the world becomes visible. Even if they balance it with love themes, some utterly vile things still exist.
But since the game is from Lara’s perspective, it looks innocent.
Slave traders, child abuse, racism, human sacrifices to gods, worshippers of the 72 demons, cannibals...
Everything exists.
Whether that’s good or bad is up to you.
From a distance, I saw Ymir kissing the blonde beauty he’d been chasing lately.
The man really has charisma; if he could, he’d take her straight to bed, but the girl gently pushed him away and said something to Hans—no, to Ymir.
"I’m sorry, but I have a boyfriend. I only see you as a friend, Ymir."
My tall Viking friend just got friend-zoned.
Ymir was about to say something, but stepped back...
His face was blank.
"That bitch... why didn’t you say that earlier..." he muttered.
He fell to his knees, completely broken.
I walked behind him without him noticing and put my hand on his shoulder. "Shhh, brother, you’re scaring the hoes away."
Ymir wiped the tears from his face. "Sorry for showing you this side of me."
"First love?"
"Yeah."
I went silent.
He slowly stood up, and we started walking toward class together.
"Come on, brother." Ymir threw his arm over my shoulder, and I did the same.
We headed to class together.
Life slapped Hans in the face and said, "gotcha, bitch."
I actually feel a little more sorry for him now.
