Chapter 236: Chapter 236: Into the Faerie Land (I)

"So I will stay and wait until your return, Sisi," Kael said. "This is the only selfish thing I could do."

"Oh! Jojo will wait too! We are going to wait for you to return, Sisi!" Jojo said innocently, not knowing the true nature of Sisi’s departure. "Don’t forget to come back before sunset! So we can sleep together like before!"

Sisi bit her lip, trying her best not to show her tears. She turned around and followed the faeries, who could only watch this scene sadly.

The faeries were naturally gentle in nature. They were also sensitive to emotions. So they realized that these cursed beings—despite being born cursed—were still beastmen with true feelings.

Despite his overwhelming strength, the Dusk Star looked so fragile, as if he could faint at any moment. He stood silently while holding his son’s hand, staring at Sisi with eyes glazed with tears.

Meanwhile, Jojo—still clueless about the situation—waved happily as he could hear Sisi’s footsteps getting farther and farther from him. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

"Bring me mushrooms, Sisi! I want to eat roasted mushrooms again!"

"I will!" Sisi said before she walked towards the lake right below the waterfall.

Crush Tutu, General Gugu, and Healer Roro guided their darling to faerie land, while Jan Keke, Bold Dodo, and the other faeries stayed to keep watch over the cursed beings.

"Then, what should I do next?" Sisi asked her little faeries.

"Just dip your toe into the water, darling. Then our pet alligator will come," Healer Roro explained. "Well, rather than ’our’ pet, he is more like your pet. He’s every darling’s pet."

"Okay..." Sisi slowly dipped her toe into the lake’s surface, and a few seconds later, a giant alligator suddenly moved at incredible speed from a cave under the water and swam towards her.

Sisi almost jumped out of fright since that giant alligator looked terrifying. But when he opened his mouth, Sisi realized the pet alligator was just an overly friendly old man.

"Ohh... darling has come back! It’s been a while, right? Did you come with that man? Darling, you shouldn’t think of him anymore, he’s a human! He’s no good!"

"Don’t say that, old man. This is our new darling, Darling Sisi, the daughter of our previous darling!" General Gugu scolded the pet alligator.

"Ah?! Is she? S-sorry then, I’m quite old, my eyesight isn’t good. But I know you’re a darling because you always have the same scent!" the pet alligator said. "My name is Sebek. Pleased to meet you, Darling Sisi!"

"P-pleased to meet you," Sisi calmed down after a while and smiled back at the giant alligator with his mouth wide open. "Then, Sebek, would you mind helping me cross the lake? This is my first time returning to faerie land."

"With pleasure, darling! It’s my job after all," Sebek said. "You can step on my head and then stand or sit on my back. Don’t worry, it won’t hurt me!"

Seeing the size of this alligator convinced Sisi that she wouldn’t hurt him. So she slowly stepped on Sebek’s head and then stood firmly on his back.

"Woah, it’s been a while since a darling rode on my back. This takes me back..."

"Stop with the babbling, old man. Let’s go," General Gugu led the way as Sisi crossed the lake while riding on the giant alligator.

When she faced the waterfall, her body stiffened, scared that she would get washed away since the water looked rough.

She closed her eyes, but when she opened them again, she realized that she didn’t get hurt at all. It was just like a drizzle on her head.

Crush Tutu giggled seeing her darling’s reaction. "You are the Darling of the Earth, so the water won’t hurt you. The water, wind, and plants inside Roc Forest are your friends, darling!"

"Now that I think about it, I guess you’re right. Everything feels so convenient inside Roc Forest for me compared to when I was in the human kingdom back then," Sisi commented.

"And we’re here, darling!" Sebek said as he stopped swimming when they reached the shore.

"Thank you, Sebek. I’ll come to visit you more often," Sisi said as she stepped onto the land.

"Ohh! You surely know how to make me happy, darling!" The gator happily did a roll in the water. "I’ll be in my cave if you need me for anything!"

Sisi chuckled seeing the overly excited old man. But when she turned to face the completely dark cave, her smile faded.

"Now, how should we navigate in this dark cave?" Sisi asked.

"There is a swarm of dangerous Fire Spiders inside this cave, darling. They light the way for faeries, but will explode if they sense an intruder."

"Fire spiders?" Sisi had never heard of that species before. But then again, she had also never heard of snow fireflies before Kael showed them to her.

"Just walk in, and they’ll light up the way immediately!" General Gugu said as he led the way.

Sisi followed the thumb-sized general, and just as he said, the cave was suddenly brightly lit with dozens of spiders with shining bulbs in their stomachs. They were similar to fireflies, though she didn’t think fireflies could explode like these spiders.

The cave was really spacious and could fit three adult men together when Sisi first walked in. But as they walked deeper and deeper, the cave began to get narrower and narrower.

Sisi didn’t notice anything wrong at first, but then realized that the little faeries around her became bigger and bigger until they were practically the same size as her.

"So, I really did shrink, huh?" Sisi commented as she looked at Crush Tutu, whose head was now at her shoulder level.

"Yep! You’re a faerie after all. Even if you’re half human, your faerie blood will help you bypass all the protections to enter faerie land, including shrinking!" Crush Tutu explained.

"We’ve arrived, darling," General Gugu—who was now bigger and taller than her—stopped right in front of a small wooden door sprinkled with gold dust.
