Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 120: Dreaming of A Faerie (II)
"I thought we would be separated forever after you severed our bond, but you... you actually found me, husband!" The faerie happily rubbed her cheek against his chin, her gesture was so tender that it made them look like a pair of lovers truly meant to be together.
Yet, Kael still remembered the countless horrific dreams and the agony he had endured.
He wanted to push her away and checked her eyes, just to make sure he wasn’t mistaking a random faerie for his beloved.
Before he could do so, she lifted her head and looked at him with her enchanting violet eyes.
"What do you think of me in real life? Am I beautiful?" the faerie asked.
Kael stared into those violet eyes—the only part of her he could ever retain once he woke. She felt unbearably familiar, as if he had seen her many times before, spoken to her, lived beside her, or maybe even touched her in real life.
But whenever he tried to recall more, a sharp headache struck, leaving his mind completely blank.
Still, his fated mate in the dream was breathtaking. Surely, her real-life self must be just as beautiful.
So Kael nodded.
"Hehe, of course I am!" the faerie giggled. "Did you kiss me in real life already? Or do I have to wait until you recognize me there? But you’re very impatient, I don’t think you can wait much longer~."
Kael listened quietly as she chattered on. Her sweet, melodious, and familiar voice eased his heart, and he kept nodding just to make her smile.
Suddenly, the giant tree shook again, and another rain of petals blanketed the land.
His fated mate looked up and laughed softly. "Yes, Grandma. He’s the one I told you about. He’s my fated one, arranged by the Moon Goddess herself. Once everything has been settled, we will return with our cubs!"
Sensing that the tree was a sentient being, Kael asked, "Who is this tree to you?"
"Oh, I haven’t introduced her yet," the faerie grinned. "She’s my grandmother."
"Your grandmother is a tree?"
"Mhm! I’m a faerie, you know. All faeries originate from these trees. They’re all small spirits—well, except me. I’m a giant for a faerie," his fated mate said. "But that’s mostly because my birth is a little special. Maybe my real life self is just like me. "
"If I want to meet you in real life..." Kael asked hesitantly, "... should I find this tree?"
"What are you talking about?" she laughed. "You’ve already met me in real life!"
"W-where? Why can’t I remember you? Why can’t I see your violet eyes?!" Kael panicked.
He tried to compare her face with anyone he knew outside the dream, but every attempt was cut short by searing pain that erased his thoughts.
It was cruel torment, everything felt within reach in this dream, yet utterly unreachable in reality.
The faerie gave him a sincere smile of a woman in love, but her eyes brimmed with tears of pain.
"I knew it," she whispered. "Even if we’ve met in real life, we can’t recognize each other anymore... because you severed our bond. There is no future between us, husband..."
"No, no! Don’t say that!" Kael protested. "There must be a way! W-what about a name—tell me your name! I’ll remember it, I swear!"
She wiped the tears from her eyes and murmured, "My name is S—"
Before she could finish, the world was swallowed by darkness, as if ink had spilled across the a beautiful painting, and his fated mate also vanished from his arms.
"No! Where are you?! My love—where are you?!"
"I’m here, husband!"
He could hear her voice, but see nothing. He was like a blind man as he turned desperately in all direction to find her—until another figure appeared before him.
It was mirror image of himself, giving him a taunting grin.
This was the same presence he had faced when he lay dying—the embodiment of the Dusk Star. The crueler version of Kael that valued no life but his own.
This personification of Dusk Star only used his instinct, and his instinct always told him to kill and ruin everything, as he was a monster born for destruction.
"Still chasing her after severing your bond?" the Dusk Star sneered. "Are you trying to nullify our deal? I gave you your original power in exchange for never knowing your fated mate’s identity."
"Shut up!" Kael snarled. "I’ll find a way to identify her!"
"You can try," the Dusk Star laughed. "But what if you choose the wrong woman? What if she’s already given up on you? Maybe she’s mated with another wolf, raising her little pups while forgetting your existence entirely."
"Enough! Grrrrh!"
Rage surged through Kael as he imagined his fated mate with another man. His claws unsheathed as he lunged forward the mirror image, so this bastard could finally shut the hell up.
But the mirror image dissolved into smoke, reappearing behind him.
"Give it up," the Dusk Star whispered. "You’re like a fish flailing on dry land. Why chase love when you were meant to kill, conquer, and destroy? Isn’t it better to just let your instinct loose and enjoy the power I gave you."
Kael refused to answer, attacking again and again, but each strike was useless.
"It’s useless. And why are you trying to attack me? I am you, Kael. We are the same bastard. You’ve ruined countless lives in the past. Do you really think a monster like you can learn how to love?"
"And so what if I still want to find her?!" Kael roared. "I have the right to love! I have the right to have a family with her!"
"After making a deal with the devil?" the Dusk Star laughed maniacally, laughing at Kael’s hypocrite words. "You are the Dusk Star—the embodiment of evil. Do you think a monster like you deserves happiness?"
The mirror image looked down on him and delivered its verdict: 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Kael, the Dusk Star, you will die alone and in agony. That is your fate."
