After Netherius managed to get rid of Balthazar and Varamor, the necromancer took a deep breath as he slowly descended back to the ground.

The bone armor covering his body still had a few cracks, but Netherius didn't want to absorb more of the necropolis energy to repair it.

If the Jade Dragons hadn't destroyed most of the necrotic cores in the city, the corruption would have spread to the cleansed areas again, even after Netherius absorbed their power.

However, without the cores, he couldn't recuperate the necrotic energy that he was spending in battle, so he didn't want to waste any magic to repair his bone armor.

Still, the necromancer wasn't allowed to have a minute to relax, and as soon as he landed on the ground, he sensed an attack coming his way and abruptly turned around.

Before Netherius could detail the attack, a red, glowing arch of blood appeared right in front of him, leaving him no time to defend and receiving the attack head-on.

The blood slice made Netherius' armor crack a little more, and before he could focus on looking for the culprit, Asphodel had already appeared in front of him.

The vampire mother was grinning while her eyes showed pure focus on her enemy. Her mythic relic produced an overwhelming amount of energy that was so potent that the blade itself was hidden by the aura's glow. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Unleashing a barrage of attacks with her rapier, numerous streaks of pressurized blood targeted Netherius, leaving him no other choice but to absorb more of the necropolis' energy.

As Netherius waved his scythe to the side and deflected Asphodel's weapon, a massive blast in the shape of a cone appeared on its trail. Nonetheless, the vampire mother was 'in the zone,' so she managed to evade the blast.

The clashing of their weapons echoed in the distance as the two of them relentlessly attacked each other without a break, and right as Netherius absorbed more necrotic energy, a beam of light descended from the sky in between the two fighters.

Netherius and Asphodel jumped back to avoid getting caught up in the light, and when the necromancer glanced at the top of a building, he sensed Dante standing on the roof. However, while he could recognize it was Dante, he could tell that the aura around him looked completely different.

When Dante jumped down from the roof, his body halted for a brief moment right before reaching the ground, softening his landing and allowing the two fighters to detail his appearance.

Dante's hair looked completely white, and his eyes seemed to change colors every few seconds from red to green.

Still, Dante's physical appearance wasn't the thing that shocked them the most. It was the ghostly figure of Beatrice that seemed to cling to the warlock's neck.

While Netherius' face was covered by the crown bone mask, his body still showed visible concern of the 'blessed' energy extruding from Dante.

'How is a warlock using 'Ether'? His body should be blowing up into pieces by now!' Netherius thought.

As the necromancer kept trying to come up with an explanation for Dante's power, the warlock pointed his finger at him, and less than a second later, a bolt of golden lightning came down from the sky, striking Netherius and shattering a large chunk of his bone armor.

The lightning's power paralyzed Netherius for a brief second, and before Dante could cast another spell on him, the air inside the necropolis became colder and heavier as Netherius absorbed even more of its energy.

A battle between mages who had a similar power level was like playing rock-paper-scissors.

At first, with Dante using umbra and Netherius using the spiritual energy of living beings, they had no true counters. Their battle was mostly based on skill and endurance, as both umbra and necrotic energy had similar properties.

However, "blessings" that used "ether" were extremely effective against these dark mages, and Netherius was very well aware of that.

For that reason, he had to absorb a copious amount of necrotic energy from his necropolis, which also caused the corrupt territory to become much smaller.

As the darkened air revolved around Netherius, a giant, translucent skeleton formed behind him, prompting the massive monster to swipe its hand and blow away both Dante and Asphodel.

The vampire mother wanted to inquire more about Dante's power, but when she detailed Beatrice's figure on his back, her eyes widened in disbelief.

She had a rough idea of what was happening, but she didn't expect that the warlock would have such an ability under his sleeve.

"I don't really like using this power since it doesn't belong to me…" Dante commented, sensing Asphodel's concerns.

The vampire mother didn't reply and thought about his words for a moment, but she didn't have much time to do so as a rain of bone spikes began to crash down on them, prompting the pair to move away quickly.

While the giant skeleton pointed his arm upwards, he shot a barrage of hundreds of bone spikes that were as big as a bus, which they later began to rain down across the district that now looked like a battlefield.

Still, the pair knew that an attack like that, while powerful, was being used by Netherius to divert their attention, so Dante rushed forward towards the necromancer, running across the destroyed street at an incredible speed.

Netherius instantly cast a spell that darkened the corrupt ground even more, making skeletal hands come out from underground to grab onto Dante's legs. However, each stride that Dante took let out a small wave of 'ether' that instantly cleansed the corruption around him.

Whenever a skeletal hand tried to hold onto his legs, they were instantly burned to a crisp, and when Dante got closer to Netherius, the necromancer chanted his "Death Art: Ruin."

Nevertheless, instead of getting burned and blasted away, Dante received the attack head-on, crossing his forearms in front of him to reduce the strength of the blow.

As Dante pointed his open palm at Netherius, the ghostly figure of Beatrice looked up and aimed her hand at the giant skeleton behind him.

"Light," Dante muttered, generating a blinding flash of light that prevented anyone from seeing the result of his offense.
