Modern World Warlock-Chapter 366: Dante and Asphodel’s Endurance
As the battle inside the necropolis continued, the Jade Dragons at the southern checkpoint began to question the hostage agents.
They had heard from Trinity that an unknown person was trying to break into their security system, and since the NSS were the last to betray them, they also became their number one suspects. However, none of the agents knew what they were talking about.
A few minutes later, another small group arrived at the southern checkpoint, and the members of the Jade Dragons were glad to see Camille being safely carried by Imera.
Behind them, three androids were hovering in the air, using the jets from their legs to move around.
Camille introduced two of the androids as Jenna and Rey, giving a brief explanation of how she recruited them after they kept her safe at Netherius' residence.
The third android was a female model with dark red hair, and when Alice looked at her, she sharpened her gaze with caution, sensing a strange presence dwelling inside the android's body.
The ex-detective was exhausted after she used a healthstone to cure her wounds, but she still unsheathed her blade and prepared herself for a battle with the android.
"It's fine, Alice. Let me explain…" Camille said, approaching her friend and giving her a reassuring hug.
When Camille elaborated and said that the android was actually the wizard Wolfram, the entire group fell silent, which was perfect since it allowed Camille to keep explaining without interruptions.
Megan and Zac were barely conscious while listening, and the rest of the team didn't look that much better. Still, they came to terms with Camille's plan.
"Dante also brought some help…" Alice commented, and when she turned around to look for and introduce Varamor, the Dragon King was nowhere to be found.
"Wait. Where the hell did that guy go!?" Alice asked, but nobody noticed when the man had left.
Deducing that Varamor had gone back into the necropolis to help Dante in his battle, the Jade Dragons also decided to move the checkpoints closer to the corrupted areas.
Since the death ichor was slowly shrinking, it meant that their checkpoints would be farther away from the corruption.
While technically it was good for them to stay away from the death ichor, it was better to stay close in case someone needed to leave or enter quickly.
Still, the Jade Dragons couldn't advance while also holding the NSS agents hostage, so Camille ordered the Kappa team to take the agents away to a place where they could exchange them later with the organization.

Inside the necropolis, the battle between Dante, Asphodel, and Netherius continued, their wake of destruction making it seem like they were fighting in ruins.
Dante's breathing was quick and heavy. His clothes, which had been made with some of the most durable materials in the world, were slowly burning away from the sheer number of attacks it had endured.
*Sigh* "These rags are getting in the way…" Dante commented, taking off his jacket and ripping off the rest of his shirt.
The warlock's body was covered in bruises and numerous cuts, but Dante was still able to stand firm and cracked his knuckles before holding his mythic scythe once again.
Asphodel seemed to be in a worse condition, though the grin on her face could have convinced people otherwise.
As the woman took off her leather coat, which had also been ruined after several attacks, she was left wearing only her skin-tight leather blouse.
*Huff, huff* "I hadn't been pushed to this point since I killed my father…" Asphodel said, smiling and stretching her arms.
Netherius' attacks were getting more violent by the minute, and the area of effect that his spells were taking were getting larger as well.
Thanks to Balthazar's blood threads, some of the necromancer's attacks were delayed by mere seconds, but that was enough for the pair to avoid taking any damage completely.
Suddenly, when they sensed that Netherius was charging an absurd amount of necrotic energy, Asphodel and Dante instantly acted without thinking, rushing towards the necromancer as quickly as possible.
When an enemy as powerful as Netherius charged a spell that could wipe a city from the map, their opponents had two options.
Either rush in and prevent the mage from casting the spell with force or run away and gain as much distance as possible.
Knowing that running away would be futile as they would still have to continue the battle, their only option was to attack.
Gritting his teeth, Dante jumped and held his scythe over his head before slicing down while Asphodel appeared from the opposite side, holding her rapier and thrusting with ferocity.
Nevertheless, when their weapons were mere centimeters from making contact, everything froze in place for a brief second.
"Kgh-!" Dante grunted, feeling as if his heart was being gripped and squeezed.
Asphodel widened her eyes when she felt the same sensation, clenching her teeth to endure the unbearable pain as the two of them seemed to be frozen in time. freёnovelkiss.com
After a second, both Dante and Asphodel were forcefully pushed back in different directions, sending them almost a hundred meters away from Netherius.
Dante's body crashed against the base of a building, but the force of the push was so strong that the warlock simply broke through it and came out from the other side, landing with his back against the ground and his face looking at the darkened sky.
"Ugh… I wanna lay on my hammock," Dante muttered to himself, fully covered in blood.
After using a large amount of umbra to protect himself from the blast, Dante felt that the energy he had left wouldn't be enough to exhaust Netherius.
Of course, he still had a few aces up his sleeve, and while he wasn't sure that he could hold until the end, Dante knew that he had to keep fighting.
As he took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment to gather his thoughts, Dante heard a familiar chuckle in his head, making him slowly open his eyes.
"Heh, still doubting?" The voice of the woman echoed in his brain.
When Dante opened his eyes, he saw the silhouette of the woman standing beside him with her arms behind her back, looking down at the warlock as if inspecting his injuries.
"Beatrice…" Dante whispered.
