Modern Cultivation : The Strongest Couple Bonded by Vampire System-Chapter 698: Soul Mismatch
The moment the door sealed, Rovan quickly started pleading.
"Sir Edward, I’m really sorry," Rovan said. "The immigration hall was... stressful. I said things I shouldn’t."
Alex sat down. He placed one finger on the table.
Tap.
A thin line of light spread across the surface.
A simple formation.
Rovan felt it at once. It was another formation that sealed the place.
His face went pale.
Just what did Alex plan to do to him that he felt the formation in this room wasn’t enough?
Just how many layers of formation were they in now? Three? Four? Five?
He dropped to his knees, then smacked his head into the ground.
"I’m really sorry, Sir Edward.
For what I did, I deserve to die, but please at least spare me. I still have a sister and family to return to."
Alex’s lips twitched.
’What does he think I’m going to do? Torture him? Even if that’s the case, isn’t he too shameless?’
His arrogant demeanor was nowhere to be seen.
Now he was just groveling on the ground, sobbing with tears while he kept banging his head on the floor.
BAM! BAM!
But Alex could see it was nothing more than a show.
He used his qi to strengthen his head, making the noise loud while only scraping his skin.
Alex shook his head, almost impressed by Rovan’s acting. ’He should just become an actor.’
Not wanting to waste time anymore, he asked, "Darius Varn. Do you know him?"
Rovan swallowed. "I don’t know."
Alex’s voice stayed even. "You’re lying."
Rovan’s lips trembled. "Sir, I really-"
Alex leaned slightly forward. "You both come from the same family."
Rovan’s eyes darted.
Alex continued. "Others may not know, but for people like you, with wealth passed down for generations, family is everything."
Alex had experience with families like that. They treated bloodline like a treasure.
They cared about family members to the point they even controlled their marriage, and how many kids they could had.
There was no way Rovan didn’t know anything.
For him to even migrate here meant the family had something planned for his future.
He should at least know the general idea of what his family did.
Rovan’s breathing sped up.
Alex tapped the table again.
"I’ll ask again," Alex said. "Do you know Darius Varn?"
"I... I haven’t met him since I came here," Rovan said quickly.
Alex’s gaze didn’t change. "So he still lives. Now contact him."
Rovan hesitated. "My bracelet-"
Alex flicked his finger.
A huge pressure fell on Rovan.
His body flattened into the ground.
BAM!!! The floor cracked.
Then Alex removed the pressure.
Rovan gasped like he had just escaped drowning.
Alex’s voice stayed calm.
"Next time you don’t answer the way I want, I’ll turn your body to pulp, then imprison your soul into an animal body.
A spider will be a good choice."
Rovan’s body shivered in fear.
Putting a human soul into an animal body was worse than death.
It wasn’t just humiliation. It was pure hell.
A soul needed a body that matched it.
A human soul carried human instincts, human senses, human capacity to think.
If you forced it into a beast, the soul would reject the vessel.
The vessel would reject the soul.
The result was constant torture.
The mind would get trapped between two sets of instincts that could never fit together. Hunger, fear, and aggression would flood the thoughts like poison.
Every memory would still be there, but there would be no way to express it.
If it was something like a spider, it was even worse.
Eight eyes that didn’t see the world like a human did.
A body that lived by pure instinct.
A mouth made for tearing and sucking, not speaking.
If a human soul was forced into that, it would be stained by the vessel over time.
The more it stayed inside, the more the animal nature would grind away the human part.
Even if someone returned him to his real body later, it wouldn’t fix it.
The damage would already be in the soul.
Based on what Rovan know there’s no way to heal it.
Rovan quickly replied. "I’ll do it," he said hoarsely. "I’ll call him."
He pulled out his bracelet and made the call.
No one answered.
Rovan’s face turned even paler.
"I... I can talk with my uncle," he said quickly. "He should be able to reach people."
Alex stared at him.
"What are you waiting for?" Alex said.
Rovan’s mouth went dry. He immediately switched methods.
He opened a contact panel and sent a high-priority message with a emergency code attached.
This time, the bracelet responded.
A sharp male voice came through. "Rovan."
Rovan almost cried. "Uncle, thank God. I need you to contact someone. Darius Varn."
The voice paused for a moment before answering. "Why are you asking about him?"
Rovan’s eyes flicked to Alex. He swallowed.
"I... I need to speak with him. It’s important."
The voice turned cold. "Where are you right now?"
Rovan hesitated.
Alex didn’t speak. He just watched.
Rovan’s shoulders sank. "I’m at the bar. In a private room."
The voice went even colder. "Which bar."
Rovan’s lips trembled. "The one with the golden emblem."
Silence.
Then the voice said, slow and careful, "Put your bracelet on speaker. Now."
Rovan’s face went pale.
He looked at Alex like he was asking for permission.
Alex nodded.
Rovan switched to speaker.
The voice came out clearer now. "Who is in the room with you?"
Rovan answered directly. "Sir Edward."
Another silence.
"Sir Edward," the uncle said.
"This is Varyn Roel. Head of Proxima Security Division.
My nephew is foolish. If he offended you, I will compensate you. Please name a number."
Alex didn’t react. "Oh, so you’re the one Rovan bragging about. Since you should already know about me let’s stop wasting time.
I’m looking for Darius Varn.
I already know he’s alive so don’t try to lie to me, otherwise I couldn’t guarantee what would happen to your favorite nephew."
