Saryx pulled back fast, then drove a knee toward Mingyue's stomach.

Mingyue tilted her hips, took it on the flat of her sword, and shoved it away.

Her feet slid back half a step, then she cut in again before he could reset.

Alex closed the gap instantly.

He slammed the warhammer forward like a battering ram.

Saryx twisted his torso and caught the shaft with his forearm, but the hammer's green aura bit into his scales and forced him to give ground.

Alex didn't follow up with a heavy swing.

He switched to fast, concussive hits overwhelm Saryx.

"See?" Alex said, voice sharp between breaths.

"This is all you dragons are capable of. Without the traitor, you would've lost the war."

Saryx countered with elbows and knees.

He smashed at Alex's ribs, his shoulder, his jaw, trying to break his stane and force him to retreat.

"Bullshit," Saryx spat. "What you said is nothing but excuses from losers."

Alex took some, avoided others, and returned a hit every time Saryx gave him the opening.

A hammer jab to the chest.

A shove to the collarbone.

A short swing to the ribs that made Saryx's breath hitch.

"Is that so?" Alex said.

"Then why bother hunting the so-called losers if you don't feel threatened by them?"

Mingyue came in from the side again.

Her blades aimed for the same damaged areas, trying to widen the cracks and stop the scales from sealing.

Saryx growled and flicked his wing edge out to block one blade.

CLANG!!!

"You jest," Saryx said. "I do it because I'm bored, and because I'm looking for Alucard!"

The other blade still slipped in and scraped his chest, reopening the wound by a hair.

Saryx's eyes sharpened. He dropped his shoulder and rammed into Mingyue, trying to crush her guard with raw mass.

Mingyue shifted her foot, let him pass a fraction, then stabbed into his side as he moved.

CLANG!!!

The blade hit scales and bounced, but purple ice clung for a breath, slowing the muscle underneath.

"You said Alucard?" Mingyue's eyes narrowed. "You know he's dead, right?"

Alex drove the warhammer into the same slowed spot.

BAM!!!

Saryx's body jerked, and he stumbled a step.

He laughed through clenched teeth.

"Wrong!" Saryx barked. "My father fought Alucard a few months ago!"

He surged forward with a tight combination.

A claw swipe toward Alex's face, a knee toward the ribs, then a horn smash meant to break the skull.

Alex barely blocked the swipe with the hammer shaft, took the knee on his forearm, then slipped under the horn line and slammed the hammerhead into Saryx's chest.

BOOM!!!

"What did you say?" Alex's voice turned sharp. "Alucard is alive?"

Mingyue's eyes flicked to Saryx too. She didn't hide her surprise.

"That could just be an imposter," she said.

Saryx staggered, and Mingyue's blades flashed toward his wounded eye.

Saryx turned his head just enough.

The blade missed the eye but cut along the cheek scales, drawing a thin line of blood.

Saryx's grin faded for a moment.

Then he snapped his head forward and struck with his horns.

Mingyue raised both swords in time.

CLANG!!!

The horns hit her crossed blades and forced her back, boots sliding through the grass.

"You think anyone can fool my father in a fight?" Saryx said, voice cold.

Alex stepped in and hit Saryx's ribs again.

BAM!!!

"Maybe it was someone strong wearing his form," Alex said. "Like those Primordials."

Saryx caught the hammer with one claw this time.

His grip tightened, violent energy surging, trying to crush the shaft.

The four-armed gorilla silhouette on the hammer flared and roared back.

The two forces ground together, and sparks jumped off the metal like shattered stars.

"That's impossible," Saryx said. "It's beneath them to do that."

Mingyue didn't wait.

She stabbed for Saryx's wrist, aiming for tendon and joint.

Saryx released the hammer and backhanded her away.

Alex used the release and swung.

Saryx ducked, rolled his shoulder, and slammed his elbow into Alex's chest.

BOOM!!!

Alex coughed once, then answered with a short hammer swing to the jaw.

CLANG!!!

"And the Primordial sent their representative to the Dragon Federation," Saryx said. "You think I'd fail to recognize her?"

"How can you be sure just by appearance?" Alex shot back. "There are plenty of ways to change form."

Saryx scoffed. "Hah. Why would they bother sneaking behind us disguised as Alucard when their so-called representative can already do whatever she wants in the Federation?"

He blocked a hammer jab with his forearm, then drove his elbow toward Alex's jaw. Alex shifted and took it on the hammer shaft.

CLANG!!!

"But you're right," Saryx said.

"Humans are the ones who love dirty tricks. They've been cooperating with the Primordials since the last war."

They clashed again.

Mingyue cut in from the side, her blade scraping Saryx's scales and pulling a thin line of sparks.

"What do you mean by humans cooperating with the Primordials?" Mingyue asked.

Saryx's eyes narrowed. He stepped back half a pace, then attacked again, a knee toward Alex's ribs and a claw swipe toward Mingyue's neck.

Alex blocked the knee with his forearm. Mingyue tilted her head off the claw line and answered with a short thrust toward Saryx's chest.

CLANG!!!

Saryx slapped the blade aside and laughed again, like the question amused him.

"The representative is human," Saryx said.

"Why else do you think I came here? For the soul insect? those insect is not my match!!

I'm waiting for her to come. I'll ambush her."

"What?" Mingyue's eyes widened.

Alex's hammer paused for a fraction of a breath.

He and Mingyue looked at each other, both surprised by the information.

Alex's mind moved fast.

A human representative of a Primordial..

The governor. The sealed heart. The abyssal ingots. The corruption.

It fit together like a piece of puzzle.

'So the one behind the governor should be her.

And whatever is sealed in that mining facility is part of her plan.'

But a human?

Alex's eyes narrowed.

One or two traitors selling out their own race wouldn't surprise him.

But based what Saryx said they already cooperate since the progenitor war.

Mingyue's lips curled slightly.

"Then what's the Primordial's goal? How could she act as she please in the federation?"

Her eyes flicked toward Saryx's horns. "Or did your so-called dragon pride already bow its head to a human?"

Saryx laughed.

"Hahaha." His gaze turned sharp. "We dragons respect true power."

He stepped in again, his claw striking toward Alex's throat. Alex raised the hammer shaft and blocked.

CLANG!!!

"The first time she arrived," Saryx continued, "all the current Overlords attacked her."

He twisted, drove his knee into Alex's side, then snapped his wing edge at Mingyue's blade to keep her out.

CLANG!!!

"They failed to beat her."
