Chapter 613: Backup Plan

Alex did not waste time.

He dashed forward, warhammer raised, and MingYue moved with him without needing a signal.

Sigma’s body was locked in the space lock formation.

It could still move, but every movement was heavier, like it was swimming through thick mud.

Alex swung the warhammer.

The white flame head smashed into Sigma’s left shoulder.

BOOM!

Stone plates burst outward.

Purple energy sprayed like mist, then snapped back into the core, trying to heal the damage.

MingYue took the opening.

She flicked her wrist and condensed an ice spike the size of a spearhead.

She drove it into Sigma’s exposed joint.

Crack.

The ice spread into the gap before Sigma’s purple energy could move it away.

Sigma tried to wrench its arm back.

The space lock resisted.

Alex’s rune formation tightened like a clamp.

"Now," Alex said.

He drew a second rune with his free hand, a thin chain pattern that linked the warhammer to Sigma’s body.

The moment the rune connected, the warhammer’s space formation tightened.

It wrapped around the damaged shoulder like a collar.

Then Alex pulled.

Space folded, around the shoulder joint.

Sigma’s left arm tore off.

The arm drifted away, still twitching leaking purple light from broken part.

MingYue’s eyes flashed.

She raised her palm and crushed the severed arm.

The arm shattered into fragments.

Alex snapped his fingers, and a thin line of flame cut through the frozen debris.

The fragments turned to dust.

Sigma’s body staggered.

It corrected its stance again, like a machine recalibrating.

But the purple glow in its chest began to pulse faster.

MingYue felt it. "It’s trying to do something."

Alex’s gaze stayed cold. "Then we don’t let it."

He rushed in.

Sigma’s right fist came through a distortion, trying to punch through Alex’s skull.

But the space lock made the distortion unstable. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

The fist appeared late.

Alex twisted his head and let it pass, then slammed the warhammer into Sigma’s ribs.

BOOM!

Two layers of stone armor caved in.

A crack opened straight toward the chest core.

MingYue dashed to the crack.

She pressed her palm into it.

A sucking force erupted, and the purple leak inside Sigma’s ribs shook like it was being dragged out.

She was absorbing the life force inside Sigma’s body.

Sigma finally reacted, Its body convulsed.

A yellowish aura appeared from it’s core.

A slab of stone grew from its ribs like a shield, trying to block her palm.

MingYue’s eyes narrowed.

She pressed her hand deeper and kept draining through the new layer.

Sigma’s legs trembled, its knee plates cracked.

Alex saw the chance.

He lifted the warhammer with both hands.

Runes flared along the handle.

The white flame head brightened until it looked like a compressed star.

He brought it down on Sigma’s chest.

BAM!

The impact punched a crater into Sigma’s torso.

Purple energy exploded outward, then snapped back again, refusing to disperse.

The chest cavity opened.

For the first time, Alex saw what was inside.

It was a layered structure, like a miniature planet mechanism.

The planet core with many other small crystal orbiting around it.

MingYue’s breath tightened. "Just how? That’s a full planet core."

"I know," Alex said.

Alex’s already predict his goal, but he tough Sigma will only put part of the planet core inside this body.

After all a planet without it’s core should be destroyed.

But somehow here planet Elyndra is still fine, while the core has been taken out.

’Did he create some kind of fake core to sustain the planet?’

Alex’s wonder.

Sigma’s body began to shake.

Its cracked torso tried to rebuild.

Stone flowed like liquid.

Metal segments bent and re-aligned.

Alex stepped forward again.

He don’t want to give Sigma any time to heal.

He swung low, aiming to take Sigma’s legs.

The warhammer hit the left knee.

CRACK!

The leg snapped.

Sigma lost his balance..

MingYue moved in and froze the broken joint, sealing it so it could not heal.

Alex raised his hand.

A space rune formed above Sigma’s chest.

He slammed the rune downward.

Space pressure crushed the torso inward, forcing the core point to surface.

Sigma’s head jerked up.

For the first time, the purple slit of its eyes changed.

The emptiness vanished.

Sigma’s gaze locked onto Alex.

"Sorry it took a while to recover. Your ambush really derail my plan."

The voice was calm now, almost amused.

MingYue’s eyes sharpened.

Alex did not relax. He tightened his grip on the warhammer.

Sigma’s half-destroyed body cracked again, but this time it did not try to rebuild the same way.

Instead, the purple point in its chest expanded.

A wave of distortion rolled out from it, different from before.

It create a space domain fighting against Alex’s formation.

Sigma lifted its remaining hand and pointed at Alex.

"Phase one finished," Sigma said. "Phase two is execution."

The planet beneath them trembled again.

And Alex felt it, a connection between planet Elyndra and Sigma..

The dome surrounding the city begin to glow forming lines.

Those lines connected into a massive formation that covered the entire city like a net.

Runes appeared one after another.

It’s different with the one Alex usually draw, it look more crude.

MingYue’s face changed. "So this is why he keep them healthy."

Alex’s eyes narrowed. "They’re his backup plan."

Below them, the city was still in festive mood.

People were celebrating.

Then the first wave hit.

A man holding a cup froze in place, His smile faded. His knees trembled.

A woman in a red dress stumbled, her hand reaching for a wall as if she suddenly could not breathe.

Children stopped running. Their faces went blank.

Sleeping baby suddenly start crying.

"W-what..."

Green particles began leaking from their skin.

At first it looked like dust.

Then it thickened, like mist spilling out from every pore.

The particles rose upward, drawn toward the dome.

They gathered into streams.

Thousands of thin streams, all pulled toward the glowing runes.

The formation brightened.

Sigma’s power surged.

Alex felt it in an instant.

The purple point in Sigma’s chest spun faster.

The frost MingYue had forced into his joints cracked, then evaporated.
