Modern Cultivation : The Strongest Couple Bonded by Vampire System-Chapter 612: Sigma’s True Body
Alex and MingYue left the battleship and met Sigma in open space above the planet.
The fused humanoid hovered in the air, standing on warped space like it had its own invisible ground.
"Sigma," Alex said, eyes narrowed. "Tell me how you know about the Progenitors."
Sigma did not answer.
Its purplish eyes flashed.
The next moment, the space in front of Alex distorted.
A fist punched through the distortion, appearing right in front of his face.
Alex raised his fist and met the punch head-on.
BOOM!
A shockwave exploded outward, rippling through the vacuum and shaking the battleship’s behind them.
’This strength... I can’t drop my guard.’
Alex took it seriously.
Qi surged through his meridians.
Mana lit up inside his core.
His aura thickened, wrapping around his body like layered armor.
Sigma pulled its fist back, then swung again.
Space folded with the motion, shortening the distance.
Alex twisted his shoulder and blocked with his forearm.
The impact made his bones buzz.
MingYue flashed to Sigma’s flank, her palm already covered in ice.
She stabbed forward.
Sigma’s body rippled.
Earth plates slid like living armor, and her strike hit the stone.
Crack.
The ice spread, but purple energy surged out and remove the frost away from the inside.
MingYue’s eyes sharpened. "This power."
"I know," Alex replied, and he moved.
He lifted his left hand.
Runes formed in the air, one after another.
With his right hand, he raised his palm.
White flame ignited.
At first it was small.
Then it burned brighter and brighter, almost like a tiny sun trapped above his skin.
Alex pushed the rune forward.
The rune moved like a piece of puzzled put into it’s place.
The flame flickered.
It gathered.
The bright white mass pulled inward as if squeezed by invisible hands.
The light became denser.
And the flame turned solid.
A warhammer formed.
Its head was a compact block of white fire, wrapped in a thin shell of distorted space that kept it from leaking away.
The handle was a simple construct, a spine of runes and compressed mana.
He got the idea after watching MingYue condense her ice shards.
She use it as container to condense all her energy.
Thus Alex think it’s possible to use Space power to contain his flame.
Alex could not freely manipulate space like Sigma did.
But he could use runes to command space in limited, precise ways.
He used it to give form to what normally don’t have.
Sigma moved.
It appeared above Alex, leg already coming down like an axe.
Alex raised the warhammer.
CLANG!
Space around the collision wavered, then cracked in thin lines.
MingYue took the opening.
A spear of ice formed in her hand, but this time it was not just ice.
It carried her life force, thin threads woven inside it like veins.
This is method she copied from Sigma.
It allow her to use lifeforce more effectively by strengthening only a few point, but still achieve the same result.
She stabbed at Sigma’s side.
Sigma turned its elbow slammed into her spear.
The spear shattered.
But the shards did not scatter.
MingYue snapped her fingers and made them orbit Sigma’s arm like a ring of knives.
Sigma’s arm jerked.
Earth plates rose to block.
The ice knives carved deep lines into the stone, freezing the cracks.
Alex stepped in.
He swung the warhammer.
The white fire head slammed into Sigma’s shoulder.
BOOM!
A burst of white light flared.
Stone plates exploded outward, and purple energy leaked out like smoke.
Sigma stumbled half a step.
Alex’s gaze sharpened.
Something felt wrong.
Sigma’s movements were violent and efficient, but its eyes were empty.
"Sigma," he said again, colder. "Is this the best you can do? Seem you’re all talk."
Sigma give no answer to Alex’s taunt.
It threw a barrage of punches, each one coming through a space fold, each one trying to land on his chest, his head, his throat.
Alex blocked, dodged and redirect the attack.
MingYue moved behind Sigma again.
She slammed her palm into its back.
A deep freeze spread.
But purple energy surged and remove it away again.
She clicked her tongue.
Alex realized it at the same time.
This Sigma was not the Sigma they fought before.
It doesn’t try to confuse them nor negotiate.
It’s like Its intelligence have dulled.
Like this was a body running on instinct, running on a preset directive to kill them.
’Is this side effect from using this body?’ he thought.
Sigma’s fist came again through a distortion.
Alex swung.
The warhammer hit the fist dead on.
The space shell around his flame hammer flared, and for a split second, the distortion Sigma used stuttered.
Sigma’s punch slowed.
Alex stepped in and drove his knee into Sigma’s ribs.
CRACK!
Earth plates buckled.
MingYue dashed in and thrust a condensed ice spike into the crack.
The ice spread fast, freezing the purple leak before it could surge out again.
Sigma’s eyes flickered.
The space under its feet twisted again, trying to pull it away.
Alex’s eyes narrowed.
"No!" he said.
He slammed the warhammer down.
The rune frame around the hammer head expanded, turning into a short-range space lock.
The space around Sigma thickened.
Its escape distortion faltered.
"We must make sure we completely destroy him now, MingYue," Alex said.
With his abilities, Alex predicted many possibilities. Now he was sure of one thing.
Sigma’s goal was to turn his thought into something like a heaven’s will, using the planet core as a foundation.
And this body was created to contain it.
But from what Alex could see, the body was still not perfect.
Alex suspected it was because Sigma had run out of time to refine it.
Alex’s ambush had cut their schedule short, forcing Sigma to activate early. That was why this thing in front of them felt dull, like a barely thinking machine.
But Alex did not believe it would stay that way.
With the amount of energy inside it, Alex suspected that even now, Sigma was improving every second.
Each second that passed was Sigma becoming more complete.
