Chapter 59: Black Dragon City’s Terrors

John then continued," I have had the chance to finally meet the true elites of the world after decades of working under them, and I have even been allowed to certain places only a handful of people were allowed entry to. And let me tell you this, I wish I had never visited any of these places and just stayed ignorant."

"Alas, as a young man, curiosity took the best of me and led me to inquire more and more about secrets, and the more I knew, the more I realized how deep in a hole I was placing myself. Till one day..."

His father’s body shook as his next words seemed to stop before leaving his throat. He hesitated for a long time before he took a deep breath and said in shaky, cold voice.

"I...I read a book, just one page of it were left, with the others torn apart." John had an ugly expression before he continued," The book spoke about a certain era and a future era, each connected yet separate, one occurred and the other is yet to occur, one is known while the other is unknown."

"It spoke about a divine war that occurred and will occur once again when humans rise in power, when humans gain powers, and resurrect the fallen ancient monsters of old." His father paused at this information and his nose bled as he asked," Do you know what’s the final line of text in the page?"

Yone shook his head, to which his father nodded as he expected, wiped the blood out of his nose, and spoke," Black Dragon, Tiger, Wolf, if the Beast Master Returns, then the world will see chaos once again. If the different powers return, then peace will return again."

Gulp!

Yone gulped down as an image of the different classes of Eclipse Online entered his vision for a split second before he instinctively denied the possibility,’ No way, right? My father most likely read a fairy tale of old and not a secret book.’

Yone denied the details at the end but he knew that the inner wall held secrets.

Brushing away those thoughts, he contacted the management of the inner wall and completed all relevant paperwork and provided all needed information before he aided his parents with everything and they took a flight to the Dragon City and the Inner Wall.

Given the various technological advancements, especially in terms of travel and speed by minimizing wasting people’s time as much as possible, Yone reached the Inner Wall in thirty minutes with his family.

Yone stood still as the scanner swept over him, a soft pulse of blue light crawling from head to toe. His parents and little brother were just behind as they stood silent and held their composure as best as possible.

The guard in black armor looked at them, then shifted his gaze to Yone as he uttered.

"He comes alone."

His mother opened her mouth, but stopped herself before raising any complaints as she already knew the rules of buying a house at the outskirts of the Inner Wall.

As for his father, he just nodded once, his jaw tight as he recalled the test he also had to go through when he first entered the Inner Wall back in his younger days.

’Good luck, son, and don’t go too deep or else you will have to sacrifice things multiple times harder than mere family and happiness,’ John thought as he placed his hand on his right hand as a tattoo of a sword was seemingly half erased.

Yone gave them a look, just a glance that meant he would be fine as he followed behind.

His parents were then led to a sterile waiting room that had no clocks. No windows. Just two chairs and a camera like an investigation room of high alert criminals, and not just people who were here to purchase a house.

As for Yone, he was taken down a separate corridor, which was several times worse than his parents. It was clean, quiet and extremely cold as he couldn’t help but feel a bit anxious with each he took forward.

’Isn’t this a bit too much?’ Yone couldn’t help but feel that something was off.

He was clearly told he would get a test, but was never given the details, but since his father never mentioned the test itself, since he himself seemingly took it, Yone assumed it would be easy. Only, he felt that something was wrong the deeper he went through the corridor.

At the next checkpoint and as Yone was deep in thought, a second guard held out a sleek black pad as he uttered with a cold voice.

"Real ID."

Yone handed over his ID, which was immediately scanned with a blink into a green light into a prompt that said ’Cleared’.

"Game ID," the guard said as he obviously knew Yone was a player at Eclipse Online since the source of his funds in the first place was the game itself.

Yone slid on his neural band as if he didn’t care about his real identity being discovered, but a slight smirk was displayed on his face for a blink of an eye before it vanished.

On the black pad, the connection pulsed and then blinked red, unlike the green light it gave for his ID.

[ERROR: Access Blocked. Authorization Denied.]

The guard stiffened and turned his head as he gestured for another person watching behind him from behind a glass to take over. At the next moment, another stepped in with a frown and took over the job from farther away. A silent moment passed before a woman in a gray suit behind the glass clicked her tongue.

"That AI’s overreacting again," she muttered. "This kid’s data is real, but we can’t access any of his information in-game."

"No background glitches, just blank spots," added the man next to her, tapping the screen.

"Let him through. Manually check out his information in-game and don’t use too much force, he could be ’him’."
