MMORPG: Birth of the World's Luckiest Player-Chapter 195: The Six-Headed Twin-Winged Serpent
The woman had never expected her charm to truly cripple an existence like the Raven King. The moment it hesitated, even slightly, she moved. This had been her real objective from the start.
Deep within the palace, hidden mechanisms responded to her will.
A series of heavy thuds echoed through the hall as countless concealed spears, bolts, and razor-sharp projectiles erupted from the walls and floor, all propelled with terrifying force toward the Raven King. Almost simultaneously, dense waves of summoned monsters surged forward, filling the corridor and completely blocking its path. Without sparing a glance behind her, the woman accelerated, streaking toward the exit of the main hall.
"Caw!"
The Raven King screeched in fury.
"Dark Thunder Armor!"
With a violent wave of the Nine-Feather Dark Thunder Fan, massive arcs of dark lightning wrapped around its body like living armor. The incoming projectiles shattered the instant they touched the lightning, exploding into fragments that clattered uselessly to the ground.
"Caw! Caw!"
The Raven King’s fury only deepened. In its prime, such traps would not have merely broken, they would have been reduced to dust. But it had yet to recover from its battle with the Five-Clawed Divine Dragon, and the lingering weakness gnawed at its pride. The memory of the knight who had caused its misery resurfaced, igniting a fresh blaze of hatred. Seeing the newly spawned monsters as little more than substitutes for that enemy, it unleashed its rage upon them. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
The fan waved again and again. Dark lightning tore through the hall, annihilating everything in its path in a brutal display of slaughter.
Hidden nearby, Marcus watched in silence, unease prickling at the back of his neck. He had no idea what had enraged the Raven King so thoroughly, and he sincerely hoped it had nothing to do with him. His invisibility was down to its final moments. Without hesitation, he spurred his Nightmare Dragon Steed forward, recalled Pebble, and slipped through the partially opened palace doors.
Whoosh!
The instant he emerged, blinding light flooded his vision. Warm sunlight washed over him, and crisp, clean air rushed into his lungs. The transformation was immediate and unmistakable. The mist that had once shrouded the palace was gone, replaced by a clear sky and vivid scenery.
The seal had been broken.
Only now did everything fall into place. That was why so many powerful beings had suddenly appeared. The Mist Veil Palace was no longer hidden. Realizing this, Marcus almost laughed. He could probably leave right now using a Town Portal Scroll. This trip had already been a perfect success.
Still, he did not leave.
Beyond the palace gates, chaos reigned.
The battlefield outside was a brutal mess of bodies and clashing forces. Corpses littered the ground, and violent combat raged in every direction. On the earth below, Headless Cavalry and Headless Grunts fought desperately against swarms of Golden-Fanged Vipers, holding their ground despite being outnumbered. In the skies above, Mist Vultures collided with black, winged serpents in a vicious aerial battle, feathers and scales raining down as shrill cries echoed through the air.
In Dominion, monsters fought each other for territory and treasure just as players did. Scattered among the blood and corpses were glimmers of dropped equipment, most of it blue-tier gear suitable for level thirty players. It would sell for a decent price.
Under normal circumstances, Marcus would not hesitate to take advantage of such chaos.
But his gaze was drawn elsewhere.
Roughly ten meters from the palace gates, a massive one-on-one battle was unfolding. A grotesque monster the size of two buffaloes, bearing six writhing snake heads and a pair of enormous, fleshy wings nearly three meters long, was locked in combat with the Cloud-Tusk Lion.
The Six-Headed Twin-Winged Serpent.
There was no mistaking it. This abomination was one of the Demon Lord’s Eight Guardians, the very creature that had once tried to kill Lyanna. A Divine-tier existence.
Its appearance alone was enough to turn one’s stomach. The six crimson snake heads twisted and hissed constantly, filling Marcus with a sudden, violent urge to cut them off and toss them to his Shadow-Stained Gryphon King. Snakes and birds were natural enemies. Perhaps it would even strengthen his pet.
That thought faded quickly.
For now, such ambitions were nothing more than fantasy.
Suppressing his greed, Marcus settled in to watch, content to let the two titans exhaust each other. A classic case of the snipe and the clam, he thought, with himself waiting patiently as the fisherman.
His Phantom skill faded completely. He guided his mount behind a sturdy stone pillar, well away from the main fighting. The battlefield was so chaotic that he doubted either monster would notice a lone observer. From there, he calmly studied the duel, waiting for the perfect opportunity.
As revolting as the serpent was, its power was undeniable.
Its massive body moved with shocking agility, and each of its six heads attacked with ruthless coordination. The Cloud-Tusk Lion was forced to rely entirely on its speed, treading across clouds as it darted and weaved, searching desperately for a weakness. Whenever it found an opening, it struck with blazing fire attacks or lashed out with its retractable, iron-hard tail.
But it was not enough.
The serpent was clearly stronger. No matter how the lion maneuvered, the serpent countered effortlessly, using its six heads instead of repositioning its body. It was the perfect embodiment of stillness overcoming motion. Two of its heads extended and retracted like living whips, circling its form in wide arcs, while its massive tail tore through the air with terrifying force. Together, they formed an almost flawless defense.
When the lion’s tail slammed down, the serpent met it head-on. Whip-like heads and tail collided with iron-hard flesh, producing ringing impacts like clashing steel. The serpent seized every chance to coil and entangle its opponent.
Meanwhile, its remaining four heads continuously unleashed spells of different elements, bombarding the lion in an unrelenting storm. The Cloud-Tusk Lion was forced into constant evasive maneuvers, unable to land any meaningful damage.
The Six-Headed Twin-Winged Serpent was a true hybrid, a Magic Warrior. Two heads specialized in physical combat, four in magic, supported by a devastating tail. The Cloud-Tusk Lion, by contrast, was primarily a physical attacker, relying on claws, fangs, and its whip-like tail, with fire as a secondary weapon. Its greatest strength lay in its speed and its ability to walk upon clouds.
Hidden behind the pillar, Marcus absorbed every detail, cataloging movements and patterns, searching for a flaw he could exploit when the time came.
The battle grew increasingly savage. Wherever their attacks landed, lesser monsters were erased instantly. Most of the corpses scattered across the battlefield were victims of their collateral damage. Within a ten-meter radius of the two titans, the air itself seemed to reject life, forming a deadly no-man’s-land.
"Hehehe..."
Marcus chuckled softly.
"Let it rage."
The more fiercely they fought, the better it was for him. Deep down, he hoped the clash would end with both monsters tearing each other apart.
