Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva-Chapter 768 - 11: Tea Party Gathering and Ores’s Hospitality
At noon, four songstresses dined together in the round pavilion teahouse not far from the hall, which were pre-booked by Ores. Several big trees by the teahouse provided ample shade, and the surrounding area was flat grassland. The bright sunshine sprinkled between the grass leaves, looking particularly fresh and tender.
Although it was called a teahouse, its style was more akin to a Western pastoral, resembling a scaled-down version of a windmill. One side was semi-open with a wooden circular railing, inside which were dining tables that allowed diners to directly enjoy the scenery outside and the pleasant breeze. The other side was the main body of the restaurant, decorated with various handicraft ornaments left by previous customers or handmade by the shop itself, and a slanted wooden shelf nearby displayed fresh fruits for the guests to freely pick and enjoy.
After ordering their meal, the four sat by the railing-side tables for some idle chat, considering Yianqing and Ores were not on the best of terms, Hexia and Blanchi sat separately, with Hexia and Ores on one side and Yianqing and Blanchi on the other. freewёbnoνel.com
"The scenery here is quite nice, and there are no disturbances. I've always liked it here since my past visits to Golden Flame Flower Academy," Ores said, boasting of her foresight. She had visited Golden Flame Flower Academy numerous times, but due to her age, had not formally enrolled.
Blanchi habitually nodded in admiration, while Yianqing looked indifferently at the teahouse's setting, featuring an owl wall clock and a table with classic gilded celadon tea sets. When the four sat down, a server dressed as a waiter poured them all some black tea.
On the other side, Ores was excitedly introducing to Hexia the dress she was wearing today, explaining it was meticulously prepared by a renowned designer, with embellishments and materials chosen considering the unique sophistication and style of the elven royalty.
If she had said this to anyone else, they would likely have offered half-understood compliments; although not bad, these couldn't match the excitement and joy elicited by comments from a connoisseur.
When it came to other luxury goods, Hexia truly wasn't too familiar, even though Deloris had also enlightened her over the years; she didn't have much interest in learning about these things. But as for classical elven styles, particularly those related to the Ice Spirits, she had seen much in her teacher's ancient memories; especially the elven princesses of the First Age, who were meant for the battlefield, their clothing and armor both magnificent and practical.
When nodding in agreement, Hexia could also make suggestions based on what she had seen and experienced, which made Ores feel like she had found a kindred spirit, leading her to talk more and visibly brightening her mood.
Caught up in such joy and excitement, neither Yianqing nor Blanchi on the side felt it appropriate to interject into the conversation between the two, simply watching Hexia occasionally smile apologetically at them, as it wasn't nice to neglect newly met friends.
Yianqing, of course, didn't mind. With a light touch, she managed her hair and shifted her gaze between the decor and the scenery outside, occasionally exchanging words with Blanchi to ease the new songstress's nerves.
After waiting a while, the lunch the four had ordered was ready and served by the waiter.
First was the windmill chiffon cake placed at the center of the table, a staple dessert of the teahouse. If one chose not to eat it, it could also be packed up after the meal. The small cake was exquisitely decorated with a lifelike windmill whose blades slowly rotated in the breeze, creating a picturesque scene, and the entire piece was edible.
Next came the various lunches of the four. Ores's main dish was six slices of 'Crystal Blueberry Pie,' accompanied by four halves of 'Deviled Crab Eggs,' a small plate of 'Lemon Mousse' in the upper right corner, and 12 'Fresh Grapes' as an appetizer, with green and red grapes in equal parts.
In front of Yianqing was 'Shrimp Seafood Risotto,' served alongside six segments of cut 'Fragrant Orange,' four slices of 'Flavored Smoked Sausage' and a small portion of 'Lettuce Salad.'
Blanchi's main dish was 'Vegetable Stewed Beef Brisket' consisting of carrots, beef brisket, corn slices, and a bit of broccoli, paired with six pieces of 'Roasted Potato Chunks' and seven 'Red Jade Strawberries.'
Hexia's lunch for the day was 'Sea Bass Seafood Casserole' which included fried sea bass accompanied by oysters and cherry tomatoes, served with five slices of 'Whole Wheat Bread' and 12 'Colorful Raspberries.'
Last was the uniform 'Chilled Cui Feng Liqueur' for their drink, not too sweet and quite refreshing.
As they dined, they spoke about recent current affairs.
The Federal Government had been at peace for a while, and now most attention was focused on the economy and entertainment. Speaking of entertainment, it was impossible not to mention the event held in Academy City not long ago by 'Jasmine Star.'
"That day, I happened to be at a coffee shop by the street. It was Ailu Kelu who was showing me around, and I saw her perform as she passed through Central Avenue," Blanchi reminisced.
"I don't really care much about this, I only heard about it from you all today," Yianqing continued delicately enjoying her meal.
"Her..." Ores didn't elaborate much, but it was evident that she didn't have a favorable opinion of the commercially hyped star.
"Riding on the fame of a songstress, talking about being the first to descend, the pinnacle of humanity, all to evoke the pitiful empathy of those lower-class people."
Even though Ores had only recently joined Golden Flame Flower Academy, she had already spent more than a decade in the songstress domain, and saw right through such business tactics.
"Well, I thought she sang really well at the time," Blanchi said quietly, truly envying the other's vocal talent and technique.
