Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva-Chapter 1619 - 80: Prayer of the Ancient Organization (Part 3)
Bullets fired at each other, light sabers clashed, and sparks and the sound of electricity sizzled around.
Before long, the resistance here was completely wiped out; after all, no underground organization can contend with the official violent apparatus.
Deep within the underground structure
A group of people hurriedly walked through the dark passage, entering the area where the underground shuttlecrafts were parked.
"This is the escape route built initially; you can take a small shuttlecraft into the Dark River to escape to a faraway place," a member explained rapidly.
"Leave half the people here to clean up, the rest come with me," ordered the leading man.
"Yes." There was no opposition to this apparent sacrificial order from the following members, as they were all highly loyal individuals within the organization; otherwise, they wouldn’t have followed to this point.
The group of more than thirty people split in two, with the higher-ranking members of the organization starting to board. Such a small shuttlecraft could only accommodate three people, akin to a barracuda, maneuvering nimbly and swiftly through the underground Dark River.
The hatches of the five shuttlecrafts opened one by one, while the other half began setting up explosives, preparing to destroy the passage to buy time for those leaving. Just as everything was proceeding orderly, three members of the team suddenly drew their weapons and fired at the members present.
Intense bullets swept dazzlingly across, and many unguarded members fell directly, while a few highly skilled members endured the pain, seeking cover to counterattack.
"Why betrayal?" The members present all knew each other well, with no newcomers, hence their profound confusion.
Unfortunately, the three didn’t answer but continued to draw the tools from their waists and threw them out, followed by an invisible sonic wave spreading. The violent buzzing echoed, causing the remaining members on-site to experience tinnitus and dizziness, succeeded by another round of bullet firing and light saber slashing.
After dealing with many, apart from the three defectors, only about five wounded survivors remained on the scene.
"Adam Emi, is it you?!" The remaining five found it hard to believe as they looked at the leader among the three.
"Ah, it’s me." The stubbled man on the opposite side cleared his magazine, then continued loading, firing at the five. However, the other side had already erected a barrier.
Bullets hit the hexagonal honeycomb barrier, greatly reducing speed before bouncing off and scattering on the ground.
"We’ve known each other for almost fifty years, haven’t we? Why now?" The leading man, clad in a black trench coat with graying hair, was a core senior of the ’Prophecy Faction’ and was very familiar with Adam in front of him.
"That’s right, fifty years... we’re all getting old." Adam said coldly, continuing to load and fire.
"If it weren’t for this accident, I might have waited a few more years, waiting for you to grow old to take your place and uncover the true secrets of the organization."
"But unfortunately, time waits for no one; I won’t have another fifty years."
"Stop, I know you’re not an unclear-minded person, continuing to fight now will only invite those crazies from the Burning New Department," his counterpart advised.
"You’ve been with the organization for so long, surely it’s not for money; there must be another motive," the black trench coat elder’s eyes fixed on his rival, analyzing his motives.
"That’s right." At this point, Adam finally stopped, pausing the attack, and the two companions by his side also halted.
"Finally ready to talk properly?" Prince blew on the hot gun barrel and then threw out a sphere emitting a special aura.
"This little device can shield magic power and traces; it can buy us about 2 minutes, hurry up and talk." At this moment, both sides finally fully ceased fire.
After a few seconds of silence, Adam Emi spoke, "I want all the data on the Artificial Angel."
Hearing this term, the opponent frowned, slowly asking, "How do you know about this? It’s one of the most secretive plans within the organization."
"Why do I know? Because the embryo you abandoned back then was taken by me," he answered casually, as if talking about a walk the previous night.
"It was you!?" This matter he had known through documentation, as many of the older generation had passed away.
"Are you surprised? I thought you knew everything." Adam Emi shook his head.
"What surprises me is that you dared to come back." The elder in the black trench coat said through gritted teeth.
"But now that you’re asking me, there must be something wrong with that embryo, right? I guess you’ve certainly cultivated it and even raised it as your own child, correct?" A strange expression appeared on his face.
"Interesting, haha, really interesting. It turns out the prophecy is right; this is fate," the elder suddenly laughed.
"Now that you’re asking me, that child must be quite old, grown-up indeed, and presumably exhibiting certain special traits, am I right? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have invested so much effort infiltrating the organization, it seems your feelings for that child run deep."
"Enough, get to the point." Adam Emi fired another shot, hitting the barrier before the opponent’s head, spreading ripples.
"Again, my words were right," the opponent shook his head.
"You’re not as cold and ruthless as you used to be, Adam. The you I knew back then was like a lone wolf, the agency’s operative."
"It seems fatherhood indeed softens a person; ancient events repeat under the sun."
"Since it’s come to this point, it seems continuing to hide it serves no meaning, hahaha, fine, I’ll tell you what the plan was."
"You mentioned the term Artificial Angel, and yes, you’ve already uncovered part of the truth. That embryo was indeed created in accordance with an Angel."
