Chapter 309: Chapter 317: Your Reason

"Sister Tin, you don’t understand, some things, once lost, can’t simply be picked up again. The mindset I had back then is gone; to play now would be a tune without a soul. I don’t want to ruin James Carter’s stage," Jane Sampson said, her eyes downcast. After she got married, she rarely touched the piano again.

The passion she felt for piano playing as a child, that joy that sprang from deep within her soul, seemed to have been gradually eroded by time and the grind of life.

Rock Bell opened her mouth to speak, but James Black suddenly interrupted the conversation.

"If she says she won’t go, then just reject it straight away." James Black’s stance was much more assertive than Jane Sampson’s.

Rock Bell frowned slightly and looked at Jane’s face. She kept her head down, not daring to make eye contact.

It occurred to Rock Bell that perhaps when Jane said she didn’t want to go, she really didn’t want to go.

If Jane still harbored the desire to return to music, she wouldn’t have chosen the path of an actor in the first place, but rather the relatively easier journey of music for her.

Perhaps, in Jane Sampson’s bones, there was still a trace of the stubbornness of an artist.

In Jane’s heart, James Carter was a deity exalted upon the stage, a faith held high. She would not allow others to ruin his music, nor allow her own selfish desires to destroy his stage.

Rock Bell thought, this must be what was going through Jane’s mind.

Such a pure Jane Sampson was destined to have a harder journey in this circle than others.

Yet, Rock Bell couldn’t find the words to criticize Jane’s purity. It was both a good and bad thing.

"Alright, I will call his agent later to explain," Rock Bell conceded, helpless. Even if James Black weren’t here, she couldn’t force Jane to do something she didn’t want to do.

"Here are two scripts. Take a look at which one you want to take," Rock Bell handed the two scripts on the table to Jane Sampson, saying, "One is a web drama, the second female lead with lots of script, the other is an anti-war TV series, the third female role with slightly less script than the web drama one."

Rock Bell said, "The web drama role is the female lead’s best friend. The character design is quite good. The anti-war TV series, you’ll be playing the third female, an elite female soldier, but she sacrifices herself to save her comrades in arms in the end. The script isn’t too short either."

"I’ll take the latter," Jane Sampson said, almost without hesitation.

"You’ve decided this quickly?" Rock Bell was slightly astonished, "May I ask why you chose the latter?"

"Because the seniors will definitely prefer watching anti-war TV series," Jane blurted out, then hurriedly explained, "Grandparents, grandpa, all of them, compared to the web drama about romance, they will definitely prefer the anti-war TV series. I also want to act in a drama they would like."

"Your reason, I don’t know whether to praise or scold you." It’s a form of willfulness that has reached a certain degree, but it’s willfulness that’s on point.

"The advice I was going to give was also to choose the latter. Even though it’s the third female role and doesn’t have as much screen time as the second female lead, you’re still a newcomer. Anti-war dramas usually feature veteran actors. Following them, you’ll learn a lot, so my suggestion is also the latter one. Once your acting skills are solid, you won’t be constrained by roles anymore. Later, whatever role you are given, you will be able to perform perfectly. Then, your range will widen, and you’ll have more options to choose from."
