Chapter 462: Chapter 380: The Decisive Battle Behind _1

Anderson ordered the Wildwind Principality’s army to continue intensifying their assault on the Eternal Domain’s positions. Meanwhile, he sought an audience with Mage Miler, requesting that Cloud Tower dispatch Mages to hunt down Yan Xing.

His rationale was that Yan Xing, as the ruler of a power, frequently appeared on the frontlines, presenting an excellent opportunity to end the war. Eliminate Yan Xing, he reasoned, and victory could be theirs.

However, Mage Miler didn’t share this view.

Inside the Meditation Chamber, built specially for Cloud Tower Mages in Storm City, Mage Miler inhaled from a pipe designed to enhance spiritual energy. He then said to Anderson, "You should know... for the Eternal Domain to produce such a multitude of Alchemical Weapons, they must possess a tremendously large group of Alchemists.

"To supply you and your allies with Alchemical Weapons, Cloud Tower has mustered three thousand Mages and two hundred thousand Goblins, who work day and night without rest.

"The number of personnel Thunderous Swamp dedicates to producing Alchemical Weapons cannot be any smaller than ours.

"Furthermore, the refinement of their Alchemical Weapons indicates that Thunderous Swamp houses a group of highly competent Alchemists.

"Yan Xing and his Eternal Domain are merely proxies put forward by Thunderous Swamp, just as we are fully supporting you.

"If we were to deploy Cloud Tower Mages directly into battle to hunt down Yan Xing, it would surely provoke a similar response from Thunderous Swamp.

"This is not a favorable direction for the war, and it would also damage the stature of Cloud Tower.

"Troop against troop, general against general... Remember your value and place.

"Cloud Tower can extend unlimited material support to you, but there is still a bottom line. If you can’t even handle the Eternal Domain, then perhaps we will let the Barbaric Orcs try.

"Wildwind Highlands doesn’t just have Storm City."

After hearing Mage Miler’s response, Anderson realized he had gotten a bit carried away.

The full support Cloud Tower provided to Storm City had led him to overestimate his standing in the eyes of these Mages.

To Cloud Tower, the Wildwind Principality was just a pawn used to test the potential strength of Thunderous Swamp. If this pawn couldn’t even handle the Eternal Domain, they would simply replace it.

Old Morm, with the stalwart support of the Barbaric Orcs, was undoubtedly a very good replacement.

Anderson immediately corrected his attitude.

"I apologize, Mage Miler... I was too eager for victory. Currently, the Wildwind Principality still holds the initiative in the war. My soldiers are far superior to those of the Eternal Domain in terms of training and discipline.

"It’s just that they are not quite accustomed to the weapons.

"May I know what progress Cloud Tower has made in studying the Eternal Domain’s weapons? Can the Goblin Alchemy Factory replicate them?"

Mentioning the Eternal Domain’s weapons made Mage Miler somewhat embarrassed.

"The Alchemy of Thunderous Swamp and that of Cloud Tower stem from different systems... They are particularly adept at using Alchemy for material processing.

"We’ve attempted to produce some firearms and artillery. The cost is extremely high—much higher than that of Charged Magic Wands and Heavy Magic Projectiles. As for bullets and shells... their production rate is far from meeting battlefield consumption.

"Therefore, we can deduce that Thunderous Swamp must have a very large-scale system dedicated to manufacturing Alchemical Weapons."

Miler’s reply left Anderson somewhat disappointed.

He had assumed that, given Cloud Tower’s level of Alchemy, they should be able to easily replicate the Eternal Domain’s active-duty weapons. But that was not the case.

Persistently, Anderson asked again, "It shouldn’t be difficult to manufacture the Eternal Domain’s planes, right?"

Anderson was fond of the planes from the Eternal Domain. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

They flew high, they flew fast, and suppressed what appeared to be mighty flying creatures, restricting them only to low-altitude areas.

Anderson had once had Storm City’s Alchemists dismantle a Beak Eagle Transport Plane bought from Yan Xing.

The structure didn’t seem as complicated as he had thought, and its functions seemed clear, but replicating it proved impossible for them.

However, if Cloud Tower wished to replicate it, surely it wouldn’t be difficult.

Unexpectedly, Mage Miler said with a grim expression, "The planes are nothing but crudely made, inferior Alchemical products. Once we succeed in constructing the Floating Warships and Divine Beasts, the Eternal Domain’s planes will become mere iron coffins in the sky.

"You shouldn’t concern yourself with the weapon issue for now; just focus on fighting the war before you."

Firearms and artillery, setting aside issues of range, accuracy, and power, could indeed be replicated using the Alchemy known to Cloud Tower. The problem was that they were too expensive to produce, manufacturing was slow, and the yield rate was low—that was all.

But the planes, those seemingly simple things, had left one Cloud Tower Mage after another scratching their heads.

They appeared to be nothing more than a thruster with a winged shell, yet when the Mages tried to replicate them using Alchemy, their creations either failed to fly or crashed shortly after takeoff.

For the Mages of Cloud Tower, this was an utterly humiliating matter.

This was why Miler was reluctant to discuss the topic of planes any further. As he had said, the Floating Warships and Divine Beasts that Cloud Tower was designing and currently constructing incorporated far more complex Alchemy than the planes did.

Anderson left with a figurative smack in the face from Mage Miler.

Without the support of Mages, and without replicated weapons from the Eternal Domain, he could only hope that the tide of war would turn in his favor.

After leaving Mage Miler’s Meditation Chamber, Anderson urged the Storm City Alchemical Weapon Factory to accelerate construction, then re-engaged with the war against the Eternal Domain.
