Medical and Martial God-Chapter 49: Divine Turn
Murong wasn’t gloating. She sincerely hoped Shenghe Medical College and all its teachers and students wouldn’t be dragged down by Ye Xiu. Hearing the Ghost Doctor’s voice, the others also gathered around to persuade him.
"Professor Ye, you should hide for a while and come back after this blows over."
"Staying here won’t do any good."
"You were expelled from the medical community ten years ago, and you don’t have a teaching certificate. Teaching at Shenghe Medical College is genuinely against the rules."
The teachers and students weren’t afraid of being implicated by Ye Xiu. Instead, they feared that if the situation escalated, Ye Xiu would face the same fate he did ten years ago.
"Let’s wait and see!" Ye Xiu said, not moving. He subtly signaled the Ghost Doctor with his eyes, and the Ghost Doctor understood immediately, quietly slipping out of the classroom.
When Murong and the others saw that Ye Xiu wasn’t even trying to flee, they grew as anxious as ants on a hot pan. Murong inwardly despised him. He hasn’t learned a single thing from what happened ten years ago. So reckless and immature.
At that moment, a young man walked in, flanked by Ming Yue and Xing Haiqing. "Who is Ye Xiu?" he asked pompously, scanning the teachers and students in the classroom.
Ming Yue pointed at Ye Xiu. "It’s him!"
Ye Xiu’s eyes narrowed; he instantly understood that Ming Yue was behind this. Judging by her stance, she wants a showdown! What a foolish woman!
"You are Ye Xiu?" the young man asked, sizing him up.
"I am," Ye Xiu nodded. "And you are?"
Before the young man could respond, Ming Yue cut in, "He’s Zhang Hao from the Siwei Monitor."
"You brought him here?" Ye Xiu asked.
"So what if I did?" Ming Yue retorted smugly.
In her eyes, Ye Xiu was certain to be expelled from Shenghe Medical College and disgraced nationwide once more. There was no longer any need to hide her intentions; it was time for a direct confrontation.
Upon confirming that Ming Yue had brought Zhang Hao, Murong and the other teachers and students were filled with righteous indignation. That woman is so malicious!
"Ming Yue, you’re being too hasty. Aren’t you afraid this will bring ruin upon yourself and the Ming Family?" Ye Xiu asked coldly.
"Spare me," Ming Yue said disdainfully. "After today, the entire nation will know you’ve returned and are teaching at Shenghe Medical College without a license. Public opinion will bury not only you, but also the Ghost Doctor and Shenghe Medical College. Your so-called helpers will abandon you, just like they did ten years ago. And then, who will be left to help you destroy me and the Ming Family?"
Ye Xiu realized her plan. So that’s what she’s banking on! This strategy certainly worked ten years ago. After the masterminds framed me and destroyed my reputation, all my so-called friends and partners deserted me. But things are different now. My allies are my subordinates. Who would dare to leave me? Who would dare to betray me? Only someone with a death wish!
"Fine. Since you’re so confident, let Zhang Hao make his move," Ye Xiu said coldly. "I’m curious to see just how he plans to expel me from Shenghe Medical College."
Ming Yue shrugged, signaling Zhang Hao with her eyes. "As you wish."
A confident smile spread across Xing Haiqing’s face. He was the one who had found Zhang Hao and was certain the man would handle this flawlessly. Ye Xiu is definitely done for today!
All the teachers and students in the classroom tensed up, looking at Zhang Hao as if he were an Executioner ready to decide Ye Xiu’s fate at any moment. Every eye in the room was fixed on his face. They then watched as Zhang Hao unhurriedly took a file folder from his briefcase. Holding it with both hands, he bowed respectfully and presented it to Ye Xiu. "Divine Doctor Ye, the Head of the Siwei Monitor instructed me to deliver your official documents. Your teaching certificate and medical license are inside. Please accept them."
The shock of this scene was so great it nearly gave everyone whiplash. They had all thought Ye Xiu was finished, and that the Ghost Doctor, Shenghe Medical College, Shenghe Hospital, and even all the faculty and doctors would be implicated. But it turned out Zhang Hao was here to deliver Ye Xiu’s credentials! What a hell of a plot twist!
Ming Yue and Xing Haiqing exchanged a look, both feeling the situation slipping from their grasp. Just a moment ago, Ming Yue had been smugly confronting Ye Xiu, certain of his downfall. Now, Zhang Hao’s actions were a slap in the face. Xing Haiqing, however, was completely bewildered. He was the one who had brought Zhang Hao here to destroy Ye Xiu, the Ghost Doctor, and Shenghe Medical College. Why isn’t he sticking to the script?
Even Ye Xiu was taken aback. For a moment, he felt as if his very qi was flowing backward, threatening to drive him mad. I was all set to teach this guy a lesson, and he’s here to give me my credentials?
"If you were just here to deliver documents, did you really need to put on a whole ’senior official on an inspection tour’ act?" Ye Xiu asked, speechless.
"Ahem, it was required for dramatic effect!" Zhang Hao laughed awkwardly. The higher-ups said acting this way might get a laugh out of Huang Quan. What choice did I have? I didn’t even want to come! What if Huang Quan’s hand slips and he pinches me to death?
"Give your boss a message for me," Ye Xiu said. "Tell him I appreciate the favor."
Zhang Hao had been waiting for those exact words. He quickly replied, "Of course, I’ll be sure to pass on your message. I’ll let you get back to it. I’m leaving now."
With that, he backed out of the classroom and bolted. Heaven knew the cold sweat from facing Huang Quan had already soaked through his underwear.
Ye Xiu then turned to Ming Yue, his voice laced with mockery. "Sorry to disappoint you. Not only have I not been expelled from Shenghe Medical College, but it looks like I can now teach here openly and legitimately."
Ming Yue’s face twisted with rage. "You..." She truly hadn’t expected Ye Xiu to have backing from the Official Family. She snarled viciously, "Don’t get cocky. You may have cleared this hurdle, but you won’t clear the next."
"Whether I can clear the next hurdle is a problem for another day," Ye Xiu said, his curiosity piqued. "Right now, what I want to know is who gave you the nerve to force a showdown with me. Care to tell me?" He was genuinely curious. I’ve already shown her so many of my cards. Logically, she should be living in constant fear, not picking a fight with me.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about," Ming Yue said, feigning ignorance while sneering internally. What an idiot. He still hasn’t suspected the Ming Family.
"Stop pretending," Ye Xiu sneered. "I’ve known for a long time that the Ming Family was one of the masterminds who framed me back then."
What? This statement was so shocking that the faces of Murong and everyone else in the room changed drastically. They had all assumed Huang Xinming was the one who framed Ye Xiu. They never imagined the Ming Family was the true mastermind behind him. And from the sound of it, the Ming Family was only one of the culprits.
"What are you talking about?" Xing Haiqing demanded, an uneasy feeling washing over him despite not fully understanding the implications. The only reason he had helped Ming Yue deal with Ye Xiu was because she had told him Ye Xiu had nearly assaulted her.
