Medical and Martial God-Chapter 105
After listening to Ye Xiu, the Ghost Doctor suddenly laughed smugly. "I anticipated that Master would have this plan, so I prepared well in advance."
"What did you prepare?" Ye Xiu asked.
"A month ago, I contacted the relevant departments and the deans of all the major medical academies in the country, asking them to select students who are passionate about medicine. The selection was completed ten days ago. They are just waiting for your word, Master, and they will excitedly rush to Saint He Medical Academy to enroll," the Ghost Doctor said, smiling proudly.
Ye Xiu laughed. This was what he admired about the Ghost Doctor; he was always meticulously thinking one step ahead and making thorough preparations for every contingency.
"In that case, let’s start classes in three days," he said.
"Good. I’ll notify the heads of the medical academies right away." The Ghost Doctor nodded, then changed the subject. "I have one more matter to report to you."
Without waiting for Ye Xiu to ask, the Ghost Doctor continued, "I’ve received intelligence that the Sang Jing Rongfu Consortium will announce today that they are sending a medical delegation to Jin Ye City. The group is led by the Sang Jing Medicine King, Miyamoto Satoshi. Ostensibly, they are coming for a friendly medical exchange between our two countries, but in reality, they’re here to challenge me."
"Such a trivial matter doesn’t seem worth reporting to me," Ye Xiu commented.
"Master is wise!" the Ghost Doctor said with a touch of flattery. "I believe Miyamoto Satoshi is leading the Sang Jing medical delegation to Jin Ye City not to challenge me, but to target you."
"He wants to challenge me?" Ye Xiu said disdainfully. "Miyamoto Satoshi’s medical skills are far inferior to yours. He isn’t qualified to challenge me."
"Kuroki Suzu is also in the medical delegation," the Ghost Doctor added.
"Oh?" Ye Xiu’s gaze sharpened. "The disciple of the Sang Jing Sword God, Yagyu Uemon? The one known as the Little Sword God, Kuroki Suzu?"
"That’s her!" the Ghost Doctor confirmed. "Kuroki Suzu is one of the nine great geniuses of the Sangjing Ninja World. Three years ago, at only twenty years old, she had already advanced to Great Grandmaster. Her strength has likely reached the War God Level by now."
"Interesting." Ye Xiu narrowed his eyes. "Yagyu Uemon and the Long Family just posted a bounty of 200 million gold for my arm. Now, under the guise of Miyamoto Satoshi challenging you, they’re brazenly sending Kuroki Suzu to Jin Ye City to deal with me. They truly are courting death."
"Master, it would be better to be cautious. Kuroki Suzu might already possess War God Level strength. If you kill or defeat her, the Long Family and the Yagyu family will definitely connect you to Huang Quan. After all, you’re the only one in this world with the power of God Slaying," the Ghost Doctor warned.
"Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing." Ye Xiu glanced at the time. "Alright, it’s almost time for class. I’m off to teach."
With that, he left the Ghost Doctor’s office. Once Ye Xiu was gone, the Ghost Doctor immediately contacted the deans of the country’s various medical academies.
A month ago, medical students all across the nation had been collectively baffled. Their class advisors had inexplicably called each of them in for a chat, asking why they chose to attend medical school and whether they enjoyed studying medicine. After the conversations, there was no follow-up, which led the students to believe their advisors had gone mad. Little did they know, the advisors themselves had no idea why their deans had issued such an order. Some curious advisors had even gone to ask their deans, but the deans had just chuckled; even they didn’t know why the Ghost Doctor wanted them to do it.
Until this very moment.
When the deans received the call from the Ghost Doctor, they finally understood. Saint He Medical Academy was expanding its enrollment. This news delighted them. Even though all the students in their schools who truly loved medicine were about to be poached by the Ghost Doctor, the deans weren’t the least bit upset. Instead, they were happy for their students. To be able to pursue further studies at Saint He Medical Academy was a dream for every doctor in the country.
Dragon Hollyhock was extremely busy today.
First, she went to the Marriage Registrar to finalize her divorce from Zuo You. Then, she got her hair done, had a full-body beauty treatment, got a manicure, and bought new clothes. She had spruced herself up from head to toe, inside and out.
After returning to her hotel, she showered, soaked in the tub, applied her makeup, and slipped into a beautiful new outfit. She had given herself a complete makeover, transforming into an irresistible beauty.
Then, at seven o’clock in the evening, she arrived at Ye Xiu’s home.
Ye Xiu, once you’re utterly infatuated with me and I’m pregnant with your child, I will make you a wandering soul.
Standing before the door to Ye Xiu’s villa, a cold glint flashed in Dragon Hollyhock’s eyes before being replaced by a charming yet dignified smile. Then she rang the doorbell.
She waited a moment, but there was no response. She pressed the doorbell again. Still nothing. She pressed it a dozen more times in succession, but there was still no sign of movement.
It seems there really is no one home.
Dragon Hollyhock’s face darkened, and she suddenly felt as if she’d been slapped. She had spent the entire day joyfully getting ready, making herself beautiful, and had just been fantasizing about making Ye Xiu fall for her. But damn it, Ye Xiu wasn’t even home.
"Who plays tricks on people like this?!" Dragon Hollyhock roared.
In the chairman’s office of the Zhulu Group, Ye Xiu and Qin Qing were watching surveillance footage on a phone of Dragon Hollyhock standing at his front door, roaring in frustration. Ye Xiu couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
"I’m starting to think you’re really mean," Qin Qing said, rolling her eyes at him.
"To me, Dragon Hollyhock is already a dead woman. Playing with her a little before I kill her is just me collecting some interest," Ye Xiu said, his smile vanishing as his expression turned sinister.
Seeing this, Qin Qing stopped joking and asked, "Is the force behind Dragon Hollyhock very strong?"
"So-so," Ye Xiu said with a shrug. He didn’t dare tell her the truth, afraid of frightening her. The force behind Dragon Hollyhock wasn’t just strong; it was terrifying.
"Come on," he suggested. "Let’s find a place to eat, then we’ll head home."
Qin Qing gave Ye Xiu a deep look and wrapped her arm around his. "I’m in the mood for hot pot."
"Then let’s go have hot pot," Ye Xiu replied.
The two went to a hot pot restaurant called Nine Palaces. Because they were wearing masks, neither the server nor the other diners recognized Ye Xiu. They chose a corner booth, with Ye Xiu sitting with his back to the other tables so he wouldn’t be recognized when he took off his mask to eat.
"Now I finally understand why those celebrities don’t dare to go out," Ye Xiu said with a wry smile after they ordered.
"Actually, I think wearing a mask is quite nice," Qin Qing said with a smile.
Just then, the server brought over the Nine Palaces soup pot. Ye Xiu took only one glance at it before his pupils contracted sharply.
"Let’s go," he whispered. "We’ll eat somewhere else."
"What’s wrong?" Qin Qing asked, completely baffled.
"Someone poisoned the hot pot," Ye Xiu whispered.
