Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 224: Fuck!
Chapter 224: Fuck!
Fiona had been beyond elated to find out that she was pregnant.
At first, after she had been kidnapped, her first reaction would have been to abort it, but after a few weeks and almost a month of being shown what absolute love and care was... she couldn’t help rubbing her stomach in glee.
An excitement that only increased when she told William, who seemed to be even more excited than she was as he showered her with even more care and love. Taking her out on more dates and getting her even more expensive jewelry than what she had previously—enough that she didn’t wish to ever leave.
Sitting in front of the mirror in her room as she combed her long, black silky hair, she wore a white curvy gown as she adorned herself and prepared to see William. Her makeup was light, and her hair had been combed until no part of it appeared tangled as she beamed at her image in the mirror without a single flaw.
...So this is what love feels like! she beamed to herself, looking down at her flat tummy, which wouldn’t be flat for too long—something she couldn’t even believe she looked forward to.
"Fiona! We love this life, don’t we?" she mumbled to herself as she got to her feet, having heard that William had returned not too long ago and feeling impatient to see her mate and lover’s face.
Lately, she had been considering completing the mate bond with him since it would help the baby, and it was an idea she was willing to bring up with him. She dropped the comb in her hand and headed towards the door.
No other sound but the sound of her sandals hitting the ground as she stepped out of her room and headed towards William’s own.
I should also mention the fact that we should stop sleeping in separate rooms! she thought to herself, her brown eyes shining with glee as she walked even faster than before, greeting the servants who greeted her and showed her enough respect that not once did she consider herself to be a prisoner in his mansion.
Walking quickly, Fiona had just gotten close to William’s main door when she suddenly heard muffled sounds from within. She had just raised her hand to knock when she suddenly hesitated and slowed down as she made out words that surprised her.
"She’s pregnant! You must be very happy!"
"Of course... I’m beyond elated!"
"Still, don’t you think that someone else would have been—"
"I refuse to have this conversation with you, Fervor!" William’s towering voice could suddenly be heard as he banged his hands on the table, anger clear in his tone.
At this point, Fiona didn’t hesitate to knock, entering in the same breath with her head raised and her shoulders squared as she walked in. Her height was much shorter than Fervor and William’s, but the way she walked and stood made it hard for her to be ignored as she stared at Fervor, who instantly got up the moment she entered and made to leave.
His face was icy cold, and his eyes even colder as he looked beyond her without so much as glancing at her or greeting her to acknowledge her presence as he walked past her. Fiona frowned in annoyance and was just about to address it when she heard William speak and softly call to her.
"Fiona..." he said with a light cough that immediately made her close the door, moving to where he sat as she sat on his lap.
"You look pale! Fervor might be your friend, but he should know better than to say things that would piss you off!"
"He’s a cold man! That’s how he is, and that’s how he has always—" but he was still speaking when he suddenly erupted into a loud and deep coughing fit.
Fiona waited for it to end, only to become more alarmed the longer it went on as she got off his lap and watched him wretch, tears in his eyes as he coughed hard, like he was about to cough out his lungs and more.
"Ar-are you okay?" she gently asked, fervent concern on her face, but William didn’t respond as he continued coughing, grabbing a pair of tissues and placing them on his mouth as his cough finally reduced until he no longer seemed like he was about to break.
"Are you okay?" Fiona asked again, tapping his shoulder with a severe look on her face as she stared at him and watched him nod his head as he struggled to get up, moving towards the trash and tossing it in before closing it back up.
"I’m fine, Fiona! You don’t need to worry! You should worry about yourself and the baby!" he replied as he slowly moved back to fall into the chair.
William had a small smile on his lips as he tiredly stared at her face, but Fiona couldn’t even bring herself to smile. The thought that something could happen to William... not to mention him not living long enough till the baby was born had just crossed her mind.
Something she couldn’t live with.
Staring at his body, she noticed how much skinnier he looked and weaker. So much so that even their intimate times were completely non-existent—enough to worry her.
"You’re clearly not okay!" she seriously told him, not moving from where she stood even as he beckoned her closer for her to move back onto his lap, where she liked to sit.
"We need to get the antidote from my father!" she said, but she had just mentioned it when a huge frown flashed across his face, and William raised his gaze to stare at her with a dark look in his eyes.
"You will not mention your father, Fiona! The last thing I want is for you to put our baby in danger!" he told her, trying to sound soft and concerned and not like the threat it actually was.
"You are dying, William! I will not watch you die!" she yelled back, raising her voice mostly in frustration as she wondered how someone could care so little for their body.
"If not for you... do it for the baby! Don’t you want to see your child be born and live!"
"Fiona! Don’t worry! I’ll definitely live until then!" Exasperation was thick in his voice as he rubbed his head tiredly, considering the manic migraine he was constantly dealing with.
But he was still rubbing his head when he suddenly noticed the silence in the air, raising his head to look at Fiona, who had a horrified look on her face.
William had just frowned in confusion when he instantly realized the mistake he had unknowingly made.
Fuck! Fuck! he internally swore to himself.
The last thing he needed at the moment was an argument, but staring at Fiona, it was clear that it was definitely unavoidable.
If not for the baby’s health... It would have been better to lock her back up! he internally swore as he prepared words he would use to coax her as usual.
