Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 211: Missing?
Chapter 211: Missing?
The battle raged on, a chaotic symphony of snarls and gunfire. Cain’s beast, a monstrous form of sinewy muscle and razor-sharp claws, lunged at Masdaw, swiping through the vampire lord’s shadowy form, only for the void to reform, as if laughing at the futility of Cain’s attacks.
Masdaw’s bloodline power was unlike anything Cain had faced before. His body was incorporeal, shifting between solid and ethereal with unnerving ease. Each strike that should have torn him apart merely passed through, his form dissipating like smoke before solidifying again.
Cain let out an enraged snarl, baring his elongated fangs, his eyes now completely red, glowing with fury. His injuries were numerous—bullet wounds riddled his massive body, the scent of blood filled the air where silver rounds had grazed and pierced him. But his body healed fast. Too fast. The bullets were forced out of his flesh, wounds closing as though they had never been there. The pain fueled him, the beast inside him roaring to be let loose in full, something Cain couldn’t allow, aware that the moment he did would be the second he lost all control, never again to become human.
Vazer, covered in blood that was both his and his enemies’, fought his way to Cain’s side, slicing through the remaining guards. His blade flashed, cutting through flesh and bone with inhuman speed. His agility was unparalleled, shifting his form between different faces to confuse his enemies before slitting their throats. But even he was growing weary, deep gashes running down his arms where stray bullets had struck him.
"Cain! You need to focus! You can’t kill him like this!" Vazer barked, dodging a wild swing from a surviving guard before impaling the man through the heart. He barely had time to react before another rushed him, gun raised. Vazer ducked, slicing through the tendons in the guard’s arm before shoving his knife straight into his throat, silencing his screams.
Cain roared in frustration, slamming his massive fists into the ground, causing the earth beneath them to crack. His beast form was powerful, but against an opponent like Masdaw, it wasn’t enough.
Masdaw laughed, his voice a chilling whisper carried by the wind. "You thought you could challenge me? You’re nothing more than a mindless animal! Javi is already on his way!"
"...Once reinforcements arrive, killing you would be easy!" he barked.
But Cain simply lunged forward again, his claws tearing through the air, but Masdaw simply dissolved into darkness, reappearing behind him. With inhuman speed, the vampire lord struck, his elongated fingers forming jagged claws that sliced through Cain’s side, drawing deep, dark blood.
Cain howled in pain as he froze, but his body responded before he could even register the wound. The flesh knitted rapidly back together almost instantly. He turned, his eyes burning with pure rage, his breathing heavy.
"GRAAAA!" He growled in frustration, about to attack again when he heard a familiar shrill whistling sound, pausing and glancing to the side to see Vazer.
A dangerous smirk played on his bloodstained lips. He reached into his coat, pulling out a set of small, rune-marked explosives—ones he had specially prepared in case things got out of control.
"Honestly... I was hoping I wouldn’t have to use this!" Vazer muttered in a low voice to himself, but it was still loud enough for Cain and Masdaw to pick up.
Masdaw realized what was happening, his eerie smile finally faltering. "You wouldn’t dare! You’ll kill us all!" Masdaw warned, having seen the explosive. The runes on it made it easy to tell that it was made with the use of magic.
"You won’t survive either!" Masdaw bragged, the proud and arrogant expression he previously had back on his face. But Masdaw had just spoken when Cain transformed back into his human form, dashing to stand right beside Vazer, who still had the face and body of Lady Harriet on, just in case.
Cain smirked as he spoke, "You’re going to die screaming, Masdaw."
But Masdaw wasn’t the least bit cowed as he simply shook his head, his form still in his shadowy state, which made all physical attacks useless against him. "You think you can kill me? With my bloodline power, I might as well be Immor–"
But he was still speaking when Vazer tossed out the bomb he had been holding, Cain grabbing him in the same breath as he turned around to run and put as much distance as they could between them and the bomb, aware of the lethality of it.
The explosion was deafening, a roaring inferno that consumed everything in its path. Flames surged through the gates and all the way to the mansion itself, swallowing the bodies, the blood, and everything in its path with a blue flame that seemed to consume everything in its wake.
Masdaw shrieked, his form flickering between solid and incorporeal as the fire licked at his edges. He tried to escape, but the flames clung to him, forcing him to remain tangible since he was much slower in his shadowy form. It was at this point that Cain seized the opportunity.
With a final, thunderous roar, Cain lunged, his claws piercing through Masdaw’s burning chest. He tore through flesh, through bone, through whatever unnatural force kept Masdaw alive. The vampire lord let out a blood-curdling scream, his form disintegrating into ash before collapsing in on itself.
The mansion was collapsing, the fire spreading rapidly. Cain, panting heavily, staggered back as he watched Masdaw’s remains turn to nothing.
Vazer grabbed Cain’s arm, dragging him toward the exit. "We need to move! Now!"
Cain barely managed to keep up, his body still healing, exhaustion clawing at him. By the time they reached the outside, the mansion was fully engulfed in flames, turning the night sky a brilliant, violent orange.
Cain glanced at Vazer, his face twisted in something between relief and exasperation. "That was reckless as hell!" he admonished, even as Vazer smirked, considering the fact that it was usually the other way around with him admonishing Cain.
Vazer chuckled, wiping blood from his lips. "But it worked," he said, bringing an identical bomb from his pocket, which looked exactly like the one he had shown Masdaw. Especially since if he had tossed it out, they would both be dead—especially since runed bombs were so lethal that they had been banned after the war.
Vazer shook his head, muttering under his breath before tossing another explosive, a normal one, into the inferno, ensuring that nothing—no evidence, no trace of them—would remain.
"Javi will come after you!" Cain warned, but Vazer simply chuckled in response. "There’s no evidence. How can he say it’s me?"
But Cain still shook his head as he turned to fix a serious gaze on Vazer, who still stood with red eyes blazing and a nonchalant gaze like he hadn’t just murdered a couple of hundred people. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
"Javi will come for you!" Cain warned. Considering that it was Javi whom he wanted to get revenge against, he welcomed it, but he was also aware that Javi wouldn’t come for him, even when the rumors spread that he was the one behind the attack.
Vazer, standing beside Cain, simply chuckled even louder than before as he raised his head, red eyes blazing in amusement as he fixed them on the moonless sky.
"Isn’t that what we wanted? If he wants to come, let him..." Vazer shrugged as he stood shoulder to shoulder with Cain, which made an extremely weird sight considering the fact that Cain was completely naked while he was fully dressed.
"We should go!" Vazer said, about to mention getting into the car he had prepared, only to hear the sounds of bones cracking the next second and see Cain transform back into his huge and giant beast form before dashing away.
A flicker of a frown flashed across Vazer’s face, having hoped that he would have been able to keep Cain around until he became much calmer and his beast was no longer on the edge of becoming berserk.
"Here’s to hoping that he goes straight home!" he sighed, raising the bloody werewolf knife he had used as he stood a couple of feet outside the burning mansion, raising the knife high into the air before offering a bow.
He had just raised himself back into full height when he suddenly launched the knife straight into the flames, making sure that it would land on the edge of it. Just enough that it would still be mostly intact when it was done.
"My work here is done!" he sighed with an expression of glee in his eyes, having changed back into his appearance, his black hair cascading down his forehead, black coat billowing in the air as he vanished from there, almost like he had been carted away by the wind.

Violet had a hard time falling asleep, not having gotten anything to eat as she waited for Cain to return, only to wake up with the sun streaming down her face and sit up, rubbing her eyes as she turned to look beside her on the bed, expecting to see Cain, only to be astonished to see absolutely no sign of him having slept in the bed the night before.
Violet immediately sat up, the sleep in her eyes vanishing instantly considering how many hours it had been.
What the hell is happening? she thought to herself, trying to figure out what could have happened to prevent him from getting back before dawn. She instantly sprang up on her feet and walked to the door, only for her gaze to darken when she tried to pull it open, only for the door to remain shut.
Instantly, she opened her mouth to yell.
"Guards! Open the door!" she yelled, doing her best to sound as commanding as she could, confident that the guards wouldn’t dare leave, only to be terrified when all the response she got was what she expected.
"I apologize, but the key isn’t with us! We can’t open it even if it was!" a muffled voice spoke through the door.
