Chapter 54: Chapter 54

I started by typing that Aria must have done something to Maya or was even the one who attacked Maya. After all, there was no statement from Maya herself saying it was not Maddie. Only the school authorities confirmed what happened. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

I suddenly saw floods of comments from those who were supporting me. Some blamed me for standing up for Maya even though Aria was my best friend, but I did not know what had gotten into me. I had clearly done this because of Jaxon He had just acted like I was the best person beside him just because he felt scared, But now that he is reassured that he can take perfect care of Aria, he suddenly wants to push me away.

Can you imagine he is hiding something from me? I am going to make sure he is going to say it out. He is not going to be the hero for Aria. I would also be that best friend who always supported her in everything.

My phone began to ring And I picked up the call, and it was my mother. She asked me why I had written such hateful comments, and needed to see me. I wasted no time in walking away.

I was not walking away because I was going to plead with my mother, and neither was I going to delete the post.

I needed to make him face me angrily, and then I would question his secret. He would have no choice but to spit it out. That is the kind of person Jaxon is.

He takes his anger too far, and sometimes, he says too much when angry. I was working directly with Maya. I needed to see her to know what happened, and maybe I would understand what he saw in that picture that he was not telling me.

I am tired of being the nice guy. I think it is time for me to take Aria from him forcefully. He is just one fool who came into her life when she did not meet him, and now he is claiming that he is the most powerful and most needed person in her life when he is nothing more than a walking problem. As I left the hospital I called one of Maya’s friends.

They seemed so happy that I was concerned about Maya. Of course, they had to be very happy after all; Timothy was concerned about it, I might have been a nerd in school, but people still loved me, mostly females, and I know Maya was one of the people who dripped for me, secretly getting to ask her some questions would not be hard.

I entered a public bus immediately, taking me directly to Maya’s mansion. This was my first time in her house, and it looked worth the name. I know Maya was not just rich by words because her father was a wealthy man. I just hope she wasn’t as injured as said in the posts by the school authorities because that would be the problem now. She might be unable to talk to me if she is in a bad state.

As I stood at the door it automatically opened and I walked in, One of the maids was standing before the door as she directed me towards Maya’s room. I walked elegantly up the stairs towards Maya’s room, and when I got to the front door, just as I lifted my hand to knock, the door was opened by one of my friends. She seemed to be smiling weirdly as I stared at myself from head to toe.

I looked attractive; that was something I was so sure about, so I decided to be bold about my look. I walked in only to see Maya looking so angry with bandits around her head as she seemed to be going through her phone, clearly going through all the posts. She looks energetic for someone who is sick or should I say who got attacked.

Her friends immediately announced my presence, and everyone turned to admire me.

She stood up, and the first thing she did was hug me. At first, I felt uncomfortable; why would she hug me after all we were enemies. I was only here because I needed to say some things to her.

But looking at her, I could tell she was not attacked as badly as the school authority had claimed, which meant she might not have seen his face or gotten to talk to him.

I felt a bit disappointed. I shouldn’t have come here if this was the minor incident she was going through, except if she was trying to act all strong. She dragged me immediately towards the bed, and I sat beside her. All her friends also sat on the sofa, staring at my lips. I think they are ready to hear every word I am about to say to Maya. I know they were surprised this was the first time I was talking to Maya in a Nice tone. I had always supported Aria, so I never got to say a word.

"What brings you here?" she asked Earnestly.

I stared at her and then back at her friends. Was I going to say this? Would I not regret ever doing something like this? As I was about to speak, I recalled Aria’s words:

"You know I cannot just let you leave like that. You are the only person who matters to me and the only person who cared for me," and I suddenly broke down at her words, reminiscing in my mind.

Maya could immediately see how distant I was from her. She could tell that I did not want to be around her. I looked at the doorway, and a maid was standing there.

They all stared at me with lust, but I just wanted to leave. I did not want to betray Aria any longer; She might not want me as much as she wanted Jaxon, but that should not make me betray her.

Maya rushed towards me again and hugged me even though I had just stepped back from her.

"What do you want Maya?"

She looked at me, weirdly clearly confused as to why I was being hesitant and pushing myself away from her. "I thought you came here because of me. I thought we shared a connection." she began.

"Why are you feeling a big distance from me? I thought we shared a connection". Maya said to me, but recalling the words from Aria multiple times, made me unable to do what I planned. Yes, I hate Jaxon, but that doesn’t mean I should make Aria suffer. After all, I was all she had.

I opened my phone, and the first thing I did was delete my post and even delete any trace of it to be sure that it would come back, stabbing me in the back when Aria regained consciousness.

The only problem I had now was people who had screenshotted my posts, but I knew I could deal with them later.

I missed no time in stepping back, but Maya. She rushed towards me and hugged me tightly, but I pushed her off immediately and was a bit aggressive.

I did not mean to act that way, but I felt so scared of my promise to Aria. I looked at the doorway, and the maids were still standing there. I felt a bit worried and wanted to leave.

"Why do you suddenly want to leave? You were the one who clearly said you wanted to see Maya".Maya’s Assistant I looked at her weirdly.

I did not know what else to say. I truly was the one who had requested to see Maya. I thought she was badly injured, and maybe I could use the pictures as a way of claiming that Aria’s father had come to this.

I received a call, and it was a familiar voice. I kept silent for a while, listening to this unfamiliar voice talking to me.

Just then, the person paused;

"why are you not responding? He muttered to me. I could not tell if I was too scared or not to speak up. I said, why are you not saying anything? Do I need to keep repeating myself? We made an agreement, and now you are not keeping to your bargain." The person said, I stared at the call ID, but it was an unknown number, It did not show any number; it was clearly a private number.

I was about to respond to the number, and the call immediately went off. I tried to call back, but nothing happened because it was a private number. I could not call back; instead, it just continued to tell me I would not be able to call back.

I decided I was not going to call again, but I noticed there was a light beeping outside only for me to open the curtain, and it was a stranger on a bike with his helmet covering his face.

He held his phone, and I looked down at mine. Just as he dialed a number on his phone, my phone began to ring. I felt so scared and threw my phone to the ground while I peeped through the cotton, and the person was not staring directly at the window. I knew he would not be able to see me, but I would be able to see the person, so I could stand there trying my best to check if I knew or could manage to see who the person was.
