Chapter 448: Sudden Black Out

(Author’s POV)

"She is someone I got to know~ .... by chance," Myra jumped in.

Amy pursed her lips then nodded, trying to go with the flow as she settled down. At about the same time, Yelena, fresh from the bath, dressed in a casual outfit, walked out. She tried not to look at Brave or Alaric. When she saw Amy was here, she approached, "Mrs. Garcia."

"Ms. Yates, you are also here," Amy greeted her politely.

"Uhh~ ... I am sorry you invited both of us to the dinner, but I couldn’t make it," Yelena apologized, her voice was low.

"No problem, once Myra is fully fit and discharged from the hospital, we can set up another dinner meeting together," Amy said in a friendly tone. She had an affable personality to begin with, but for Myra, she wanted to go the extra mile and befriend her friends as well. Simply, to know more about her daughter’s life.

"For sure. We will do that," Yelena replied curtly. After that, Amy tried to talk to Myra, but each time her reply came out short and on point. Actually, Myra didn’t talk much to anyone; her mind was already filled with many thoughts.

So, Amy stopped forcing her way through and chit chatted with Nora and Yelena instead.

On the other side, William asked the twins, "Mr. Everests~ .... until when are you in Esteria?" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"The date is not set yet, but we will be staying here for a while," Alaric replied. "Mr. Miracle, you don’t have to call us so formally. Please feel free to address us with our first names," Brave added. William didn’t give any answer to that. Though Brave saved his daughter, he was still kind of wary of all of them.

Half an hour passed like that. Even if Myra didn’t say much, Amy showed no sign of going back. She was persistent, vigilant, wanting to ease Myra’s heart in some way. Soon, her phone buzzed. She took it out of her bag and checked the caller ID; it was Pearl Garcia. She excused herself to the balcony and attended the call.

"Hello," Amy spoke, her voice soft, mellow.

"Mom, where are you? I came to meet you, but neither you nor Dad is here," Pearl said with a bit of disappointment flickering in her tone.

"Uhhh~ .... I am~ .... I am busy right now. What happened? Do you need something, honey?" Amy inquired.

"Nahh~ nothing happened. I just wanted to meet you. When will you come back?" Pearl repeated her question.

When Amy was taking the call, another person came.

Yelena was the first one to see them and exclaimed while getting up from the seat, "Grandpa~ ...."

Everyone’s focus shifted to the old man.

Garry was in his mid-sixties, but apart from a few grey strands of hair in the front, he looked nothing like an average oldie. He was active and vigorous for his age. The sharp and imposing manner in which he carried himself added to his presence as well.

Garry entered the room, his secretary following behind. Oliver had tons of bags hanging from his hands. Yelena immediately questioned, "Sir Grey, what is all this?"

"Some supplements for Ms. Miracle’s speedy recovery," Oliver said curtly.

By this time, Amy had finished her call. She had somehow managed to soothe Pearl and told her she would be back by evening. For a while, she stood on the balcony, an unintentional lump formed in her throat as she looked at the scenery. Seeing how coldly Myra was behaving right now left her heartbroken, but she knew she couldn’t give up.

The daughter she had thought she had lost forever was just within reach, so how could she even think of quitting? Amy took a deep breath, the genial smile was back on her lips again.

She came back inside and noticed there were more people than before. Giving no mind to them, she took steady steps towards Myra. But when she was just two meters away from her, her steps halted midway.

Myra noticed something and turned to look at Amy. The person who had a bright smile all the time was now all pallid as a white sheet, her eyes dilated. Myra followed her gaze and saw she was staring at Garry Yates without blinking.

Yelena noticed her presence as well. She hooked her hand with Garry and said, "Grandpa, this is Mrs. Amy Garcia. The one I told you about. And Mrs. Garcia~ .... This is~ .... My grandfather, Garry Yates."

Despite her words, Amy stayed rooted to her spot. Yelena, seeing no reaction, called out to her, "Mrs. Garcia~ .... Mrs. Garcia~ ....? Are you okay~ ... you seem~ .... p~a~l~ ... ~e" Her words were cut short as Amy’s world turned upside down. Her vision was shrouded in haziness and then turned completely dark. She started falling to her side, but Brave’s quick reaction saved her from getting injured.

He called for her, "Mrs. Garcia~ ... Mrs.~ ..." but by then Amy had already passed out. He picked her up and said, "I will take her to another room and ask the doctor to check up on her." With that, he took Amy out. Both William and Oliver followed him as well.

"MYRAAAAAAAAAAAA~ ..." Nora’s shout pulled everyone else’s attention.

When Amy was in the middle of blacking out, Myra, though she could not move efficiently in her current state, instinctively tried to stop her from falling.

And in the process, she had stumbled out of bed. Her already weak legs couldn’t take the sudden pressure on her body. She fell on the floor, hard. The IV needle came off as well, as blood spluttered around.

Alaric hurdled over the table and dashed towards her to reach by Myra’s side. He picked her up in a swift move, put her in bed and instructed Nora, "Ora~ ... Go, call the doctor."

Nora rushed out frantically.

He then looked at Myra, both his hands gripping her now bleeding hand as he reprimanded, "Are you insane? Don’t you have any regard for your health? What were you trying to do? Huhhh?"
