Mated To My Best Friend's Lycan Alpha Brothers-Chapter 425: Look Who Is Here To See You
(Author’s POV)
"Wendy~ .... she had come with us, of course. I wonder what’s taking her so long. I will go and see," the moment Sandra said this, the door to the room glided open.
Wendy stepped inside, donning a broad smile. It was literally plastered on her face. Seeing that Myra had finally woken up, her already bright smile deepened as she spoke, "Sis, you are finally awake." She rushed towards Myra and gave her a warm, squeezing hug.
"OUCHHH!" Myra couldn’t help but flinch a little, though her sister’s reaction filled her heart with tenderness. Wendy quickly pulled away. With a hand on her ear, she apologized sticking her tongue out, "I am so sorry, sis. Got a little carried away. Did I tug at your injuries? Are you okay?"
Myra gave her a reassuring nod.
After confirming, Wendy clapped her hands together and recalled something. She then announced, "Sis, see who has come to visit you." She seemed extremely excited for some reason. Her voice was filled with zeal.
The minute those words came out of Wendy’s mouth, Myra’s head turned to the door. She noticed someone was in the middle of entering the room. Her eyes flew open, as wide as a saucer, when she realized who it was. The person who stepped inside was Dion~ .... followed by Alaric. But she wasn’t shocked to see them; it was Elio’s presence that stunned her. He was the last one to step inside. When Myra’s eyes landed on him, her breath hitched as she froze.
"Wendy~ ... this is~ ....?" William asked about the new faces. He had met Brave earlier, so he could tell Alaric was his brother. They were twins after all. But about the other two, he wasn’t sure.
"Dad, this is Prof. Dion Everests. This is~ .... as you already know~ ... is Mr. Alaric Everests~ ... and this~ .... *ahem ahem* .... This is Mr. Elio Everests," Wendy introduced the Everests brothers to her father one by one. But when she was introducing Elio, a faint blush crept up on her cheeks.
She didn’t even notice that her sister and her crush were now in an intense staring match. The moment Myra’s hazels landed on Elio’s greenish blues, it was as if time had stopped around them. They couldn’t look away or utter a single word.
Since the time they stepped out of the elevator, Elio could feel a familiar scent. Leo has been feeling giddy and excited as well. But now, looking at Myra, he could tell exactly why his wolf was acting like that. Though he couldn’t pinpoint his own feelings. ’My~ra .... Is it really her?’
Several emotions swamp inside him at the same time. The first one that hit him was astonishment. He was stupefied to meet her again. To him, it felt like an eternity had passed.
The next emotion that washed over him was~ ... sadness. Seeing her after such a long time, in a battered, broken state, his heart was brimming with sorrow. Her gaunt face, her fragile body, her bandaged wounds, the whole situation left him with a deep sense of dread.
Then, as if someone had poured a bucket of ice water on him, he felt a sudden anger surge inside him. It wasn’t directed towards Myra, but at her current condition. ’Who made her like this? Who could had the audacity to do such a thing? I would not let that person live a day longer.’ A calm and collected person like him was furious right now.
After raging over the culprit, he was doused with the feeling of hurt.
The time when Myra stayed at their pack house. Every minute, every second, every breath that they spent together in Kimberg kept coming in like a meteor shower. Their subtle flirting here and there, their passionate kiss late in his room, their intimate closeness in his car and other places. Every sweet memory was followed by how Myra had decided to completely vanish from their lives.
He always thought that their feelings were mutual. That it wasn’t just one sided. That she liked, not as much as he was going crazy for her. But she definitely liked him, and that was enough for him.
But when he got to know that Myra and her whole family had suddenly disappeared overnight, he couldn’t help but feel depressed. He had never told this to anyone, but those days~ ... those days were the darkest days of his life.
It wasn’t just Nora who had struggled to cope. He, too, had a hard time dealing with his and Leo’s emotions. But for the sake of everyone, he kept silent and endured. Endured this suffering, endured the longing, all alone. That’s why he was hurting so much.
Elio was so deeply engrossed in his swirling emotions and chain of thoughts that he didn’t even hear what others were saying. His eyes never left Myra, not even for a flicker of a second. Soon, Wendy’s soft, persistent voice finally managed to pull him out, "El~io~ .... Elio .... Are you okay?"
He got a little startled and looked at her with a bewildered expression, "Huhhh? What?"
"Ummm~ .... Are you alright? You look a little pale?" she asked, looking at him with concern.
"I~ ... I~ .... I am~ okay. I am fine," he forced the words out. Of course, by no means was he okay. How can he be?
Actually, when all the Everests’ siblings were mind linking, Brave hadn’t told any of them that he was with Myra. He didn’t even mention her name. He just asked them to come to the hospital, and that there was someone he wanted them to meet.
Apart from Alaric, who had more or less guessed it, everyone was left puzzling as to who this person was. He had even suggested that he would go to the hospital alone to see who it was, but others insisted quite persistently.
In the end, he had to give up. After all, he was well aware that he couldn’t conceal about Myra’s stay in Esteria. It would be only a matter of time before all the others knew about her.
This time, he had decided to take a step back and let nature take its course.
Now, standing in front of Myra, observing the marks of violence all over her body, Alaric was brimming with fury as well as regret. He clenched his hands tightly to restrain Alex, who was ready to burst out at any moment. Alex was blaming himself for not reaching her before any of this happened. The remorse was gnawing at him.
’Al, our mate. It breaks my heart to see our mate like this. Those damned fuckers, I will find out who sent them and mangle them viciously.’
The only person who seemed absolutely calm, even in this situation, was none other than Dion. His facial expression remained neutral as he approached Myra, asking her, "Myra, how are you feeling now?" His tone was filled with familiarity, as if they were close, intimate friends.
Myra, whose eyes were stuck on Elio, looked at Dion. She wetted her lower lip, gave a brief smile and said, "Better than before, Prof. Everests." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Calling him by the title, Myra thought he would get the hint and act curtly towards her, but Dion, without a care, came closer and closer. Ever so politely, he extended his hand and uttered, "May I?"
Everyone was left puzzled, especially the Miracles.
Myra was flustered, seeing everyone’s expression and how nonchalant Dion seemed. ’What is he trying to do now?’ She thought. It was making her feel awkward. She couldn’t bear it any longer, so, with great effort, she placed her hands in his. He, like a lifeline, held onto it; his thumb started circling her dorsal side gently, comfortingly.
As all this was going on, a hospital staff member came and asked, "Who is the patient’s guardian?"
William spoke, "I am. What is it?"
"Someone is asking for you," she said.
William nodded and was about to step out alone when Sandra spoke, "Will, I will come with you. Wendy, stay with your sister."
Wendy nodded as they walked out.
All this while, Dion didn’t let go of Myra’s hand. He kept a firm hold on it. Myra even tried to pull it back, but he still didn’t let go. Instead, he leaned forward and placed his forehead on her hand, making the moment all the more bizarre and awkward.
At first, Myra was overcome with nothing but abashment. Her ears turned red, not bright red, but as crimson as they could. She couldn’t tell what he was trying to pull off.
But after a few seconds had passed, she started to feel a strange sensation radiating. From where their skin was in contact, she could feel something transferring from Dion’s body to hers. The pain, the discomfort, the tremor, it was slowly yet gradually lifted. The longer they remained like this, the more she felt at ease.
Her rigid body, the stiffness of her muscles, all eased up miraculously. Despite such ghastly injuries, she felt relaxed. She knew he wasn’t a normal human being. None of the Everests were. But she wasn’t aware that he held such powers.
