[RANIA]

"Rani wait!" Dalrae said, when she saw Rania’s white wolf whirr past her.

No one in their pack had ever seen Rania shift into her wolf from the day she had turned sixteen. Many had assumed that hers would be the big black wolf since her parents had black wolves too.

They didn’t think that the alpha they had rejected would be the white wolf of their century, which could also explain why when Rania shifted into her wolf and left, the cheers died down instantly.

"Get out of my fucking way!" Dalrae said to one of the warriors who was still holding her horse, before she grabbed her horse and rushed after Rania.

Rania was always fast in her human form and now in her wolf form, she was going to be hard to reach. And Dalrae knew it would be hard to find her, especially now that all the mind links had been cut.

"Aaahh,’’ Dalrae shouted as she rushed out of the Incayon gates, leaving behind a pack of wolves that were still trying to think of the last time they had seen Rania shift into her wolf. Well, that was easy.

None of them had seen Rania shift, except for Dalrae and it had been a one-time thing, on Rani’s first shift. After that, she never shifted again.

All her battles, even those against the valve, she always fought and won while in her human form and that went to tell how strong a person she was.

An hour later, Dalrae felt like she was going to burn down Incayon if she didn’t find Rania. Her sister had always shown up for her even in the worst of times, and she had never once failed and now that Rania needed her Dalrae was unable to find her.

’Use your hearing, Dalrae,’ Dalrae’s wolf suggested and the alpha stopped her horse, got off, and listened against the harsh wind. The sounds were the same and it seemed like there was nothing unique.

Dalrae was almost giving up when she heard a wolf whimpering a few miles away from her. Now that she was the alpha Dalrae had an extensive hearing and her abilities were hastened too, so the young wolf hopped back on her wolf and went in the direction of the soft whimper.

She hated the direction she was heading, but she also down there wasn’t a palace for Rania to go to, especially now that she was a rogue. She would be hunted by packs, and most of them would try to kill her just because she was a banished alpha.

"Come on, Rani," Dalrae said when she reached the border between Obren and the unclaimed lands, where Rani was.

She knew Rania was too weak to even lift the barrier on her own, and maybe that was a good thing, because otherwise, she wouldn’t have found Rania. And who knew whether Nathaniel would have taken her as a slave for murdering his illegitimate daughter, right?

"I’m okay, Dalrae," Rania insisted even as Dalrae walked over to her and found her naked and in her human form. She was tired and bruised and she looked like she had been scratching herself for some time now.

Rania was bleeding and the worst part of it all, she refused to heal herself. She didn’t want her wolf to heal her, despite the fact that being a white wolf gave her unlimited abilities.

Then again, what use was that right now, when he was just another abandoned white wolf? She was a rogue, one who wasn’t even welcome in the land of rogues. Her own realm hated her and she needed to get out of here and fast, before the hunters came looking for her.

"Hey, you’re hurt. Why the hell would you hurt yourself?" Rania asked Dalrae, who had been too focused on Rania to even realize that she had been grazed by the branches while she was in a hurry to find Rania.

Even in her weak state, Kim Rania’s first thought was Dalrae’s safety. Rania tried to get up, but she couldn’t feel her feet. So she did the only thing she could.

"Lift your arm and let me see how hurt you are. We need to fix that," Rania insisted and Dalrae looked at her friend like she was insane.

Of course, Dalrae’s wolf was healing her, but Rania had refused to let her wolf heal her. Instead, she was there writhing in pain, laid out next to thorns, and that too, on an evening that she had been abandoned by everyone. This woman wasn’t being serious with her life, was she?

"First off, you need some clothes, here," Dalrae said, making Rania look at her like she was insane.

Where the fuck had she even gotten the clothes from?

Rania wanted to ask, but the look on Dalrae’s face told her not to, because this woman was all levels of pissed right now. To society, they were currently an alpha and the most despised rogue on the whole of Obren, but to themselves, they had a special bond.

Dalrae looked at Rania’s weak form, and while she wanted to tell Rania to let her wolf heal her, she knew that Rania wanted to numb her pain by actually feeling the physical pain.

It was something that Rania always did, but right now, as much as Dalrae understood her, Dalrae wished there was more she could have done.

"You need to go back, Dalrae. Our people need you. Well, technically, they are your people now. They need you. You need to be strong for them, and defend them against the Odelia Troll. He’s not a myth, Lim Lim.

"He’s real and not pretty. He shows up once every two weeks at the southern border, to steal children. I managed to stop him all these years without making the pack know. But now that I’m going to be gone, it’s your turn sister.

"Keep them safe," Rania said, and Dalrae just plopped down beside Rania. She was hurting, she was banished, she was alone, and even then she was worried for her people. The very people who had lived their lives despising her.

Oh, but hell it was about to rain on Obren once Rania left. Maybe then they would realize how much of a powerful woman she was.

"What about you, Rani? You say the Odelia Troll is not a myth, and yet you want to be here alone, at night?" Dalrae asked defeatedly. She hated this. She didn’t want to leave her sister, but what could she do?

"I’ll be fine, Dalrae. Besides, I’ve kicked the Odelia troll’s ass a few times, I can still kick it tonight. Besides, I still have thirteen hours to leave Obren completely," Rania said to her sister, before adding, "I need you to make me a promise though, Lim Lim."

"I don’t have the strength to make any promises right now. I need to get us some food, since nightfall is here. I don’t care what you say, but I won’t be leaving you here, alone. The pack can handle itself for a day alright," Dalrae said and Rania just sighed.

She knew this would be the hardest of goodbyes for Dalrae. But then Dalrae would be fine, right?

"Alright, fine, But I’ll come along."
