Chapter 85: The Unexpected Psycho Assist

[RANIA]

The night wasn’t as long as Rania had expected, or maybe she had been too numb that she had lost sight of where she was. She had been trying to get up since Oshita left her and while it may have counted as a breach of trust, the agreement was clear.

Kim Rania was only to be buried if she died and she hadn’t. Her body was aching, and her wolf was mad at her, even though it got to a point where Rania had to give up fighting against her healing, and let herself heal.

’For the damned trial,’ Rania said to herself as she triggered her werewolf healing abilities. She was still an alpha wolf which also meant that her abilities were better. This could also explain how she was fixed four hours after the sun came up.

She was hungry and tempted to let her wolf go hunting, but time wasn’t on her side. She had seen the message Oshita had left, and she thought they weren’t kidding. Hastening the trial was already done, and it was just people outside of Obren who didn’t know it yet.

Looking around her, Rania realized she only had half a day to get to the palace. She had been too fatigued and too stubborn to let herself reach her destination in peace, but with the threats the rogues had given her, she knew she didn’t have time to joke around.

And so, in her hunger and weak state, Kim Rania turned into her wolf, despite it being a risky move.

She didn’t mind dying once she reached Obren, but for the sake of the little kids in Incayon, for the sake of her people and the home that had bred her, she would save them, as usual. It didn’t matter that the Incayon wolves despised her to an extent.

All that she cared about was to make sure that no child would grow up as damaged as she already was.

It was too cruel a fate.

’A few more miles,’ Rania convinced herself, as if it was the only way for her to go faster, but she couldn’t.

She was hungry.

She was tired.

She was spent.

She needed to get some good rest.

Her being relaxed while her wolf was healing her was never going to count, and that was also why she figured one last hunt wouldn’t do her any ill.

However before she could transform again and go hunting in her state a voice interrupted her and this time, she knew she couldn’t keep fighting anymore.

"Sit up, and don’t make a move, or I will kick your ass in ways that haven’t been invented yet," the voice said angrily and Rania let out a sigh. She knew she couldn’t keep running and that her karma would catch up with her.

Maybe this time, she didn’t have to fight anymore.

Maybe this time, she just had to give in to her fate. However, seeing this person here was really something else. It was also proof that no one would really listen to her in Obren.

Those who hated her wanted to see her alive even more than the people who loved her, not to mention, those who were neutral, wanted to see her alive too.

It was almost like that was the only thing binding them together. Sure, their reasons for wanting her alive and healthy were different, but it was a little too convenient for Rania, that anyone could have thought she had a freaking fan club or something in Obren. And maybe she did.

"Of course, it’s you. I thought I told you to leave me alone?" Rania asked and the person who stood before her wasn’t even perplexed. It was almost like they had been expecting this.

Realities had changed and so had the tides especially when Kim Rania had decided to take the stand on her own. She had triggered a lot of curious souls, and maybe she wanted to prove that the prince was good at what he did, but everyone knew that Rania only ever listened to Rania.

There was more to what she was doing, and it definitely wasn’t because she suddenly felt remorseful and wanted to be prosecuted by her best friend. All of that was a load of crap, and frankly, a good number of people in Obren knew that.

For some, it was almost like Rania wanted to just buy time, while for others, the woman was a ticking time bomb, one that was definitely going to blow up in their faces, but what if she wasn’t?

What if she was genuine this time?

What if she was determined to pay for her crimes against Yanna?

Would that really count as honesty?

"Yeah, yeah. You’ve been telling that to a lot of people. I need you alive, not dead; even if that’s where you’re headed," the voice said and Rania rolled her eyes at that person.

It was like she was waiting for them to give up and disappear, but the road to Obren was a little long for her to go alone. If she had to survive she would need help, even if this was coming from the most unexpected of people in the supernatural realm.

"Think of it as a shortcut then," the person said, handing Rania some food.

She didn’t hesitate to take the food, maybe because she knew this person needed her alive just like everyone out there. They were raining on her selfless parade, but it wasn’t like there was any other thing to be done anyway.

The food could have been poisoned, but frankly, between this offer and going hunting in her state, Rania knew the better option was to get fed and shut up. Which was what she did.

"You despise shortcuts, woman," the voice said and once again Rania sighed. This person knew her so well, maybe a little too well, for someone who had joined the masses in getting mad at her for the trial.

There were so many speculations, but the real reason for all this lay with Rania, if ever she was willing to tell them the truth anyway.

"Here, eat this too. And you can’t say no, because if you do, I head right in with you to Obren, and we both know you wouldn’t like that," the person said, adding Rania more food. She was famished and the dried blood on her clothes made her look so terrible. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Rania was just glad that the person hadn’t mentioned how shabby she looked, because it was quite hard to explain, even though it was obvious she had taken so many hits, and hadn’t even tried to fight back, despite being fueled by anger and betrayal of a whole ass nation.

"You people just never listen. I told you I would do this on my own, but hey, it’s just fun pestering me till kingdom come yeah?" Rania retorted with a smile on her face, making the person who was with her just facepalm.

There were so many things about Rania that could easily convince the wolves that she was just a normal girl, but then the woman had made it her mission to be the worst of the worst.

Sometimes, there was just no defending her.

"Well, I for one am definitely waiting to see you at the trial. Your stubborn ass already hastened it, maybe you want to prove you killed Yanna that bad yeah?"

"So what if I do? I know some of you will miss me, but I’m just a phase," Rania said, as she wiped her mouth with the back of her hands. She had eaten so fast, and was messier, but nothing could beat the mess that she currently was.

"Yeah, yeah. A phase you want to make sure Obren rids itself of, yeah?"

"See, I knew you were smart."

"Well, in that case, you won’t mind if I come with you to Obren, and present my findings too, don’t you think?"

"You wouldn’t dare," Rania said to the person, lifting her head from the mess she had made.

She didn’t want anyone involved in her defense and if this person came along, then her quest to be the most hated person in the supernatural realm would be turned into a royal state of apologies.

And frankly, Rania preferred to be hated than loved. It made her life easier, because then she would always know that everyone wanted her dead, and not the other way around.

"Oh, but you leave me very few opinions, Rani."
