Chapter 80: All I Want is Fifty

[DRARUN]

"I could also be lying to you, just so I can get what I want too, y’know?" Paloma said and the king just smirked knowingly.

"Oh, but I know you are not. Because you, my friend, hate liars and unemotional creatures more than anything else. And you wouldn’t want to see people suffer because of emotions.

"Besides, remember the four of us made a pact to be there for each other right?" the king said nonchalantly to the rogue queen who was just staring at him blankly, almost like she wanted to smack the shit out of him.

Of course, Nathaniel didn’t have to worry about Paloma lying, because he knew his best friend. Well, at least he knew their friendship was still intact.

"And yet you fucked Eunbi, knowing that she was Seojoon’s mate," Paloma said coldly. She knew everything there was to the wolf Nathaniel had been, before he had been killed by a witch and forced to be a vampire.

"You’ll never forgive us for that, huh?" Nate asked, like what he had done hadn’t changed everything about the lives they had been living previously.

"Never. You guys betrayed our friendship. Anyway, are we done here? I got other things to do," Paloma said as she looked at the king. She then got up to leave considering she had given him the answers he desperately sought.

Maybe Nathaniel would find justice for Yanna, and hopefully, in that process, everyone in the supernatural world would get to understand why Rania deserved the justice more than Yanna.

What they had done to her had been the worst of the worst and yet Kim Rania was still relentless in her quest to make everyone think she was the reason for the misfortunes that befell Incayon.

In just a few weeks, the palace would decide her fate and the whole of Obren would be at peace, hopefully.

"Wait," the king said, making Paloma stop to look at him. They were done, so what else could the king want from her?

"Help me," the king said sincerely before adding, "help me get justice for my daughter Paloma, please."

"Pleading doesn’t suit you, Nate," Paloma said coldly, looking into the eyes of the desperate father. Maybe she was being mean for holding onto the past, but Paloma needed Nathaniel to be the push for the chain of reaction. If Nathaniel did that, then her Rania would finally be okay.

"As the king no, but as a father, and as your friend, Please, help me with it. I can’t put Eunbi at risk, but I need to avenge the child I never knew I had. I know Eunbi was heartbroken—" Nathaniel began but Paloma cut him short.

"She didn’t know that Yanna was her daughter," Paloma said quietly, as she sat back down in her seat and the king did the same. The silence that followed was so intense that even the vampires outside were worried that the king was dead.

No one knew what to expect, and Nathaniel looked at his friend, trying to see whether she was bluffing, but Paloma wasn’t. Instead, she took a weird interest in the floor, like this was a subject she wasn’t ready to deal with at the moment.

"What?"Nathaniel finally asked, his voice so quiet, and Paloma could feel his heart breaking and the questions in his voice. She wanted to console him, but how was she supposed to when she didn’t even know where to start from?

She had hidden the secret for so many years, and now that the truth was out in the open, maybe it was finally time for Paloma to be truthful with Nathaniel too. The answers that were headed his way weren’t going to be pleasant, but it was time.

"When Eunbi gave birth, Seojoon didn’t know about it, because I contacted a witch to hide her pregnancy, but when the baby popped, there was no hiding it. I took the child while she was still recuperating.

"I told Eunbi that the child had died. It was the only way to save her dignity, and to make sure that Seojoon didn’t try to ask questions about the baby. She was a hybrid, and we all know that could have raised questions.

"Seojoon wouldn’t have taken the betrayal lightly, " Paloma said and Nathaniel looked at her curiously. When he had slept with Eunbi, they had both been werewolves unless something else happened.

"The child should have been a werewolf—" the king said but Paloma interrupted him.

"The child was a hybrid. You were already a hybrid when the child was conceived. And before you ask me a hundred questions, your memory of the child and Eunbi were wiped, but your favorite witch. I swear that woman hates you so much. Anyway that’s not the issue here.

"Everyone could have noticed the changes in the hybrid child and I didn’t want bth of them to suffer. The mother would be baished. You more than anyone should know that Seojoon doesn’t do well with betrayal.

"He would have murdered Eunbi and her baby, or even done worse to her. So I gave the child to a Calindra wolf. She had promised to keep the secret safe and she did. But I had to kill her when Yanna reached fifteen, to keep the secret.

"And as the rules demanded in Calindra, any capable wolf would be assigned to the pack house, which was what happened to Yanna. She was safer there. Who could have known she would end up being the Calindra prince’s mate?

"I saved the woman you loved, and the child you didn’t know about but would have definitely loved. It was the only option, you know that too. Anyway, what happened with Yanna was unfortunate and if you must know, it happened five years ago.

"A lot of time passed already, probably because no one could do shit, and even then, the people of Obren haven’t forgotten about sweet Yanna’s misfotunes. They have been tryign to get the justice for her, and havent succeeded.

"You could think that her luna trial, which is coming up because of Seojoon’s son, is just just fate working on Yanna’s behalf. Anyway, what do you want me to help you with now?" Paloma asked once she was done telling Nathaniel of the unfortunate truth and secrets she had to hold onto for so long.

Paloma didn’t care that Nathaniel could try killing her, because everyone in the supernatural world knew of how savage the ferals were. And if their queen died in Drarun, then all head would break loose.

Drarun would lose more than it would ever gain and everyone would understand why the ferals were called that.

"I want fifty."

"What?" Paloma asked the cryptic king.
