Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 48: You Stayed Here, For That??
[DRARUN]
"No, you don’t get to do that," Rania said quietly like it wasn’t supposed to be made known. Jihoon wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or bad, because, with Kim Rania, it was impossible to be sure about anything, unless she confirmed it herself.
Jungwoo looked at Rania, the frown on her face making him question himself for a moment.
He wanted to understand what had changed from the time they had last seen each other, but who was to tell the young prince that his childhood best friend had gone through hell and back because of the person she was?
Who was to explain to him, that Rani had murdered a werewolf luna and everyone hated her for it?
Who was to tell the young prince that his childhood best friend had been exposed to the worst of conditions by her people, when all she had done was love them wholly?
No one was ready to do that.
Not even Jihoon.
Jungwoo wanted to know if she was doing alright, and he couldn’t ask, so he watched her. He tried to understand her. There were so many things that Jungwoo wanted to tell Rania, adventures, and most of the things that he had done here.
He wanted to tell her that he had won more than once and that he was slowly getting closer to facing the truth that only she and Dalrae knew. He couldn’t do that, not right now.
There was something else that fascinated the young prince. It was the fact that even though Kim Rania had a different face right now, she was open to him like a book.
There were little habits that Jungwoo had seen. Things that only Rania would do. Her random bouts of anger, her apparent frustration because of the new fact that had popped up. He could see that she was watching him and his heart bled for her for some reason.
He wanted to calm her down, but he could tell it was going to take longer than expected because Rani wasn’t the same anymore. She was still coming to terms with the fact that her best friend was to be executed in two days, and that she would once again lose someone.
Rania was determined to make sure that never happened, and she didn’t care if she had to come out and be true to herself. she didn’t care that she would be the wolf everyone wanted. She just couldn’t lose Jungwoo, not this time too.
"But Rani—" Jungwoo tried. He wanted to make her understand that there was little that she could do, but that he would be okay then. He wanted to tell her that he was thankful she came for him. But Rania was done with him and Jihoon.
She wanted to pretend she was a vampire again, but no vampire knew the relationship between her, Dalrae, and Jungwoo. She had screwed up in her quest to confirm if the prince was really who she thought, and now that it was true, she wanted to get out of here.
"Shut up, just fucking shut up. Both of you! And for you Woo, we’re here to take your ass to your father, alive, but only because he threatened Dalrae’s life. So let’s just stick to the mission," Rania insisted.
She didn’t want to get emotional right now, because it wouldn’t do them any good. Besides, even though she was happy to see Jungwoo, she couldn’t give Jihoon the pleasure of seeing her be an emotional mess.
She was too conserved for that, and there was also a chance that Jihoon would use her momentary weakness against her, in their frenemy relationship.
"Feisty as usual, I like it," Jungwoo shamelessly said and it took everything in Rania not to jump him and land a punch on him. He was testing her patience right now.
She wanted to tell him that now wasn’t the time for him to think irrationally of her, but it warmed her heart that her best friend could manage to be a jackass even though he was a weak ass at the moment.
Rania had noticed the tiny flinches that came with silver poisoning and she wanted to reprimand him again.
However, she was too tired to even think of that. She may have been a stubborn ass, but at the end of the day, she was just a werewolf and was capable of burning out.
"Wait, you both know each other?" Jihoon said when he walked into the dungeon, but not before making sure that no one was coming in their direction.
He had noticed that we were getting way too comfortable with each other, even though Rania was trying to hide it by being her rude self. Jihoon knew Rania and he knew that Rania never cared about the people she hated.
She never gave them a second glance and yet for some reason, she had even talked to the crown prince, and it wasn’t the usual tone she used on Jihoon or the one she used on the rogue queen, Paloma.
This tone was different and that had made Jihoon curious.
"Yes," Jungwoo said proudly, before making the first hiss of pain.
The silver was catching up to him, and he was done fighting it. He still had at most thirty minutes before he was forced to sleep, and he wanted to use the time to get to know Rania better, even if he was getting hazy by the second.
"No," Rania insisted, before adding angrily, "well technically, yes, because he’s the dumb prince, who doesn’t know him anyway?" She wanted to get out of here and wanted to go home, but she was worried about him, considering he was poisoned.
"Fine, fine, I get it. You hate me, gee thanks!" Jungwoo said to Rania, though his voice didn’t even show he was upset. He understood her.
"Great then. That brings me to my next question. Why the fuck haven’t you escaped yet? You can’t tell me you like it here in this smelly pit," Rania said, her face contorting into disgust. This place was so fucked up and she hated being here.
If she wasn’t currently like an undead, she would have puked her guts out, but she had to wait. she had to sit through this and complete her mission. she needed to see Dalrae, more than anything else right now.
Kim Rania could tell that the prince was capable of getting himself out of here with ease. he was well trained, from the moment he learned his first word. King Seojoon had made sure that his son was trained by the best of the best.
he was prepared by people who had the best skills to do the worst of things. He had technically been brought up to be a mercenary and right now, seeing him in this damned cage was fucking with Rania.
She could see he wasn’t ready to leave, and frankly, the only thing she could do, was hope that it wasn’t for the reason she was thinking of because that would be downright foolish of the prince.
The prince was alive, and not dead. that made the whole mission easier because she and Jihoon would just have to find a way to get him out of Drrun, with the greatest opportunity being during his execution.
Rania didn’t know how she would pull that off, but she would do anything, just to get back and see dalrae.
"You know why," Jungwoo said to Rania who just looked at him, the obvious question in her eyes.
Jungwoo was taking so many risks, most of which he wasn’t sure he would live to see the results of. It was risky staying in drarun and yet for so many years, he had taken comfort in living here. he was a prisoner, ye, but what if Jeon Jungwoo was never a prisoner?
How could he be doing this all this while? Why did he even have to come and do it alone? Wasn’t it easier to come here when they had been trained for whatever this was?
Goodness, how could he be so oblivious to that very fact? But then again, Jungwoo had an advantage against all the undead and only Rania and Dalrae were aware of it. The only question was whether Jungwoo was going to act on it.
"You can’t be serious with me right now. So you’re telling me you could have gotten out of this place already and you freaking stayed, because of that????"
