Chapter 254: There Was Nothing Between Them, Right?

[RANIA]

"Don’t ever do that again. Ever," Dalrae said when they pulled apart.

Her voice was so stiff you’d think she didn’t like the kiss. She was fuming and even when she finally managed to get up, she didn’t look back at the mate the goddess had given her. She wasn’t ready for that and there was no denying it.

"You aren’t going after her?" Kaia asked and Chang Wook just shrugged before he plopped back on his bed.

"She doesn’t want me to. Anyway, what are we doing today?" Chang Wook asked nonchalantly and Rania looked at him, and then at Kaia before she followed Dalrae out there.

She didn’t know what the fuck just happened, but one thing she knew was that her best friend had never given up just like that.

There was more that they needed to work on, sure, but that didn’t mean that they could avoid running into each other or even dealing with the hell that was already on their way. What the fuck had just happened?

"You should have followed her. You might regret it," Jihoon said as he looked at a calm Chang Wook.

Having been in that state once upon a time himself, he knew that Chang Wook wasn’t the right mind. He was probably already blaming himself for the war he had done and wasn’t ready to face that truth just yet. But then what could he do?

Dalrae was powerful and strong just like Kim Rania and Chang Wook didn’t want to trigger an animosity. He was not going to be the one who broke the damn promise for his own desires.

"She doesn’t want me to. What do we do today?" Chang Wook asked and Kaia just sighed, before he helped Chang Wook off the bed.

This was going to be a long day... or not because Rania woke back up after Dalrae who was cheery for some reason.

It was like she had decided to forget what had just happened. It was creepy as hell but Chang Wook knew better than to ask questions about it.

"I tried," Rania shrugged as Dalrae walked back in. She knew that they were both mature and could handle themselves. She just hoped that they would be fine though. She cared about both of them and didn’t want them to have tensions between them.

"Well, today we go through the Drarun plans. The vampire kingdom may seem protected because of the magic walls separating it from the rest of the other kingdoms, but beyond that, it is just another carelessly guarded home.

"So we need to think of when we are going to attack. There are four of us, so that shouldn’t be hard. We will go in pairs.

"Rania will be with Chang Wook and Dalrae will be with me," Kaia said as he looked at the two. Rania had thought that Kaia would try pairing Dalrae and Chang Wook but she was glad he didn’t.

"Alright, lay the table then," Rania said as they dragged the seats to the table. They had chess representations of what Drarun looked like and were ready to get the discussion fing, and they did.

For hours, they went through the strategies that they could think of.

They had run out of time to relax and needed to go forth with their plans But then a part of them also knew that Paloma and Oshita would have wanted to be part of the chaos that they were about to trigger.

"I don’t think we can wait for Paloma and Oshita. By the time they are done with the palace, it might be ten days or even fifteen and the vampire king will have known what we are planning and hidden his people and that is what we don’t need.

"More casualties and more pain will make the message pass along so no one tries to mess with you and your family again, little wolf," Kaia said and Rania just sighed.

Of course, she hadn’t expected that Paloma and Oshita would be on time, but she had had hope that all of this would make more sense after. But then as it was, they were standing between two impossibilities.

They had to make reference to the first agreement they had made. The agreement to meet each other when one of them was done. That was the only way to make this work for both teams anyway.

"Unfortunately, I agree. In that case, then, we only have tonight to rest and tomorrow we pick up arms. With Jihoon and Daehyun back home, they are safer there. I wouldn’t want them harmed, so remember to tell Han that too.

"They are just prisoners, not people to be tortured. I don’t need any information from them, I just need him to be there. Well, my wolf needs him to be there, but whatever happens, works for me. And I need to find a way of telling him about his father’s friend.

"I guess he’ll hate me a little more but what is there left for him to hate anyway?" Rania said with a dejected face.

She really cared for Jihoon and she wasn’t sure if involving their parents was a good thing, but then if Jihoon had her parents captive, Rania wouldn’t even bother to go save them.

They had abandoned her and left her after so cruelly so she would give them the same dose anyway.

"You’re still worried about that bastard?" Kaia asked as he looked at Jihoon, who was hidden only from Rania’s sight. He was currently standing beside them at the table but he had made sure to not be heard or make a sound that would turn all attention to him.

"I can’t not worry about him, Kai. He means something to my wolf. Besides, would burn the world if anything happened to him. Only I can kill him, that was a promise we made to each other.

"Oh, by the way, that reminds me, am I crazy, or do you guys smell his scent in the room?" Rania asked and Chang Wook just let out a laugh as if to tell Rania that maybe there was something more.

"No way. You’re not crazy. The man had been a prisoner here for a week with us. Of course, it is expected that his scent lingers a little.

"Don’t worry, I assume it will be gone by morning," Chang Wook said and Dalrae couldn’t help but agree with him. By tomorrow, Jihoon would be long gone and Rania wouldn’t have to worry about who was here and when.

"Yeah, that makes sense. We can burn the house when we leave so his scent doesn’t linger here," Dalrae said and Rania was just indeed at them.

"Is there a way to tell Han to look out for him? I know he might get the news about his father and I really don’t want him to fight this time.

"He’s already lost everything in my hands, so that won’t be fair anymore, right? If he fights, he will be harming himself and who knows what that could trigger.

"Besides, I need his wolf calm, because men can’t be calm until his wolf is," Rania said to Kaia who just looked at Jihoon as if to remind the man that there were lives hanging on the balance and that he didn’t need to fuck up.

Then again, Jihoon was very aware of the conditions and he wasn’t going to try and risk shit from anyone this time.

"You worry too much. If he knows what’s best for him, that amt of yours will keep his distance. Anyway, who wants to go out for a run?" Kaia asked and they all volunteered, but he held Rania back.

"No. You stay here and keep watch. Besides, you went for a run yesterday. We wouldn’t want to get worked up like last evening. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do alright?" Kaia said and Rania stared at her friend in disbelief.

They couldn’t seriously be considering abandoning her ass over here right? This was cruel of them but was it when they were down she could easily lose control?

Were they when they knew that she still had that form the last time she had done running?

"What am I even supposed to do where anyway? You guys are being meanies," Rania tried to argue but her friends weren’t buying any of that. No matter what happened they would strive to keep her safe.

"Talk to the insects I guess," Chang Wook shrugged mischievously and they burst out laughing before they went off on their run, leaving the two mates together.
