Chapter 250: Write On Me, Love

[RANIA]

"Do you think I’m broken, Jun?" Rania asked as she was slowly fading into a peaceful sleep. Whatever Jihoon had done had worked and they could all let out breaths of relief.

However, at Rania’s question, her friends glared daggers at Jihoon like they were waiting for his answer so they could decide whether his head was useless on his neck and help him with the burden.

"No, Kiki, never. You’re the brightest star in my universe. Sleep, baby, tomorrow awaits," Jihoon said, as Rania subconsciously nodded even though she had already drifted off to sleep.

He loved that he had managed to get her to sleep and even as he let himself get lost in the beautiful sight before him, Jihoon wondered if this was the kind of peace that came with a sleeping Rania.

He wished that he could always be beside her and make her happy, even though he had already fucked up. Then again, he already knew that and he wasn’t foreign to be surprised by anything Rania did.

After all, he only wanted what was best for her right now. Everything else didn’t matter and that was a realization that Jihoon had come to a title too late. Gently, he ran his hands through her hair in a bid to make sure that her sleep was smooth sailing.

Of course, Kaia could have used magic to make Rania calm down, but there were just some horrors that magic was more of a punishment for than a relief and this war was one of them.

Maybe Jihoon had known that too because he hadn’t tried to ask Kaia to use his magic on Rani.

For ten minutes, Jihoon hard maintained his position and strangely enough, the three friends who had been staring at him skeptically hadn’t said a word.

They were looking at Jihoon like he was the one solution to everything, then again, Jihoon had been the genesis of this all.

Dalrae felt proud that this had happened, because she always wanted to know what Rania looked like without the nightmares and horrors, but then she was also conflicted about Jihoon.

On one hand, she had already dug a grave for him in Incayon, and on the other hand, she felt like she would let him live a little longer, maybe until Rania’s nightmares went away. It was a deadly gamble but what option did she have anyway?

"I’ve done my part. You had better do yours," Jihoon said to Kaia, once he was sure that Rania had slepe.

As much as the Calindra alpha wanted to stay here with his mate, he knew that had people to look after, that depended on him and his brother.

But since he was the one prisoner that this bunch would never let go, he hoped that they would keep their end of the deal and let Daehyun go.

Then again, had Jihoon agreed to help Rania because Kaia threatened him, or had he done it because he felt like he wanted to be with his mate?

There was no denying that their bond was developing over the past few weeks, but it wasn’t like they had many options to choose from.

"This was not a one-time thing. I need to be sure that whatever you did is working even for tomorrow night. So get comfortable and wait till the end of the night tomorrow. If she has nightmares again, you will calm her down.

"That is your new responsibility. And if it goes on for a week, I will release Daehyun," Kaia said and Chang Wook, Dalrae, and even Jihoon looked at him like he had gone bonkers.

Was Kaia Seto missing the part where Rania hated Jihoon and would probably kill him if she woke up and saw the man near her? There was no assurance of what tomorrow would look like when Rania was sober and mentally sane.

It was crazy but what else was there for them?

"Fine by me," Jihoon said and it was their turn to look at him like he had gone bonkers. Did he hear what Kaia had said? Or was he hard of hearing and they didn’t know about it? What the hell was he doing trying to risk everything right now?

"Sorry, what?" Dalrae asked, not even caring that she could wake Rania. Then again she knew that Rania had suffered for a long time and she was very tired at the moment. She wouldn’t be waking up anytime soon anyway.

"You’re really here for her, right? Besides, I want my people t be completely free of whatever you will be doing and if staying by Rania is the only way to make that a reality, then fine by me.

"You just have to figure out a way to hide my scent from her, because trust me, she will know I was here. I am her mate after all," Jihoon said, adding the last bit softly as he turned to look at Rania.

It was without scorn, which is unexpected given the circumstance. Maybe the man had really lost his mind for him to be agreeing to this madness.

"She will kill you," Dalrae tried to make Jihoon see sense but he just smiled at her with a knowing smile. It is like he had already made peace with what had happened and how everything had turned out.

"I was a walking dead from the day I found out that the woman I had been hurting for years and years on end was actually the love of my life. If she is the one to kill me then I won’t mind.

"Besides, we had both agreed that only she would kill me and only I would kill her. She can do whatever she wasn’t with me, and I won’t mind, just like she killed my father," Jihoon said so casually, you’d think he was talking about the weather on a sunny evening.

Maybe he really didn’t have anything else to lose but himself and Rani and that was unexpected, especially for a man that had spent his life believing a lot of things.

"You are crazy. You both are crazy. Who the fuck ever makes a pact to kill each other?

"You two are just the perfect match for each other, this doesn’t even need any more interventions," Kaia said as he walked back to where he had been sleeping next to Rania, and lay on his bed.

He wasn’t in the mood to start thinking of what could happen with the two psychos. They were probably crazier than him at this point.

"I know, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I just hope you didn’t tell her that she is crazy. Words have a way of staying in our ears for long, especially in the hearts that have been broken one too many times and have so many holes in them.

"That shit sticks in like a sore thumb. Love her while you can, so you don’t have a lot of regrets in the future," Jihoon said as he walked over to the nearest corner and sat to rest for the night.

He considered shifting into his wolf but then the room had been made warm for everyone, so there wasn’t even a need for a blanket, though the floor was cold. He had a lot to think of right now, and he was digging his wolf for control.

The fact that Kaia had been sleeping beside Rania didn’t seem to be right with Jihoon and rightfully so. It made him feel like he was just an object to them, one that they could call not and one they would use as they pleased.

It was all not fair, but when had the word been fair? He had made the mistake and now he was paying for it, but goddamn, it hurt worse than it hurt when Yanna died.

"Here, lay on this," Dalrae said as she handed Jihoon a blanket, another shocker for Jihoon. However, he didn’t think too much about it because it would only remind him that they were being kind to him only for a given period. Did that even bother him?

"You should tell her about her brother, before she finds out on her own, Dalrae," Jihoon said as he thanked Dalrae for the blanket, but Dalrae pretended not to have heard him.

She wasn’t ready for that.

None of them were.
