Chapter 221: Head In The Clouds

[RANIA]

"Busted!" Rania said mischievously, making the warriors that were pulling the cart she was in, let out laughs. Granted, they had never seen this side of Rania but they had to admit that she was quite fun to be around when she wasn’t planning murders.

"Aren’t you supposed to be sleeping?" Chang Wook asked, trying to shift the topic, but the misfits weren’t letting him live it out.

"And aren’t you supposed to be conjuring a portal to the camp... Oh wait, you finally decided to think of the portal when we were a few meters from the damn warrior camp. What a great idea," Plaoma said accusingly, not wavering.

"If you help me out of this, I’ll buy you flowers," Chang Wook said but Han Seong just rolled his eyes at the warrior healer.

"Flowers for you, my lady," Han Seong said as he conjured white lilies and handed them to Rania who was smiling sheepishly.

Hold on, before you embarrass yourselves in front of the warriors or even scare them with your thoughts," Rania said to her friends, before turning to the warriors who had wheeled her for Incayon.

She knew it had been a long distance and she also knew that they had probably agreed to heal her because the misfits and Kaia weren’t exactly as kind when it came to making sure Rani ws safe and comfortable.

"Thank you for taking care of me. You can leave us now. Tell the warriors to eat well. There will be food in abundance. We attack tonight," Rania said and the warriors nodded at her in understanding, though they waited for her to get off the cart.

Turning back to her bickering friends Kim Rania couldn’t help but smile at them.

Of course, she was seeing her brother getting roasted left right, and center and she could see Oshita be brutal with the responses, but then she also understood them, because they could have taken the shorter route and reached here on time.

However, her brother just had to make the suggestion for them to stretch their legs. Now he was getting karma in the form of five misfits. Well, it was fun to watch anyway.

"Thank you," Rania said to Kaia, while her friend was still bickering. Suddenly it was just the two of them in their own world, holding onto the grip of sanity that was the only thing binding them together, other than the fact that they had chosen each other to be their own mates.

"For what?" Kaia said before he grabbed Rania and forced her to bend over alongside him.

"I don’t think there was an agreement about conjuring slippers now was there?" Kaia said but they looked at him like he needed to find a way to shut the fuck up or be the next victim of the flying sandals.

Well, Kaia didn’t want to be a victim and at the same time, he knew he was stuck with these misfits for a while. So he looked at Rania, before looking at the ground and they both subconsciously agreed to sit on the grass.

Perhaps that would have them from the mad people who were supposed to be leaders. Hell, even Paloma wasn’t a queen right now.

Somehow their bickering had changed from Chang Wook and his dumb idea of walking to the camp to a hundred other things that they had been holding in.

"As long as you don’t kill each other, alright?" Rania said and Dalrae flipped a slipper at her, though Kaia got the hit because he covered Rania.

"At least they are... Happy?" Rania shrugged as she looked at her wild friends making a fool of themselves.

It was hard to tell that these idiots that were bickering over a bunch of nothing were the same ones who were going to war and had the worst reputations in the realm. Maybe they didn’t use the same brains to think in the war, right?

Well, that wasn’t a worry because right now their happiness was the only thing that mattered to Rania.

"I guess so," Kaia said, lifting a brow at the idiots who were hopelessly fighting over nothing.

"Anyway, as I was saying before we were rudely interrupted by flying slippers, thank you for coming along. I wasn’t sure you would come if you got my message. I’m just glad you did, because I don’t know what I would have done.

"Leading a people to war when they hate me isn’t something that could have been easy. I know they hide it, but I also know that some of them still hate me for the past, and I really don’t blame them," Rania said earnestly and Kaia listened carefully.

He was always so good at listening and he loved hearing Rania’s voice, even when it meant hearing her be hopeful and hopeless at the same time.

"You are my mate, little wolf. Of course, I’d show up for my butterfly, aways," Kaia said with a smile as he looked at her. They had so much in common and yet at the same time, they had so many differences.

However, as they sat there watching the sun go down and the evening slowly gave way to the night, they knew that they wouldn’t have this any other way.

Perhaps their bond being unexpected was all they needed to use for this was, but what were the chances that it would all work right for them?

How would they be able to tell what was to happen if they couldn’t even figure out a way to break the bickering before them?

"What do we do about them? They seriously can’t be bickering like this for the rest of the night till we attack, no?" Kaia said, though it came as more of a plea than anything else. He looked like he was losing his mind with the bickering.

However, in all of that, Kim Rania had noticed that Kaia Seto had been focused a little too much on Han Seong.

Each time Han Seong landed a slipper hit on the idiots, Kaia would look like a proud supporter, and each time a slipper landed on Han Seong, Rania also noticed that Kaia was ready to get up.

It was something she couldn’t quite understand, but at least she could tell that Kaia was irked by any form of violence toward Han Seong. Funny how Han Seong couldn’t even stand the man and yet Kaia didn’t mind that.

"No, dealing with them is easy. Let’s give them a few more minutes. If they get hungry, it will be easier to shut them up. I believe they are trying to wade off the anxiety about the war.

"We are going against someone I care about, of course, they are worried about what could happen. But I see them stealing glances at me, worrying for me.

"If I wasn’t sure that they were my friends, I would have assumed that they all were targeting me in some way," Rania teased and Kaia looked at the misfits, though once again he had found himself lost in the stare of Han Seong.

It was like there was something so intriguing about Han Soeng and as pretty as the sight was, Kim Rania was curious.

"Do you like Han Seong?"
