[RANIA]
"I know you don’t trust me, Han, and I don’t expect you to. Think of it as me helping Rani with her vengeance. We tried justice and it didn’t work, and this is the only option left for her and us.
"We can at least work together for her, now, can’t we?" Kaia asked and they just stared at him, again. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
This was getting more common now and Kaia himself was not even bothered by the open stares. Hell, if he were in their position, he would have been way too shocked to function right. but here they were.
They were handling his presence better than he had imagined weeks ago and that was worth the effort that he had put in.
"Don’t try anything funny. If you hurt Rania or I find out that you ever hurt her, I will use all the dark magic against you, even if I have to die in the process. Remember that," Han warned, like he knew Kaia so well and better than everyone else.
His tone was different too, but it was one that told Kaia that there would be greater repercussions. Then again what greater repercussions would be there for a man who didn’t care about anyone or anything?
What could bother Kaia when he didn’t even have a conscience to begin with? Oh but it was frustrating to think of it, but Han didn’t even seem bothered this time. He knew what he was talking about and the warning was not just to Kaia if he hurt Rania.
But it was also for Kaia, if he tried to risk so many lives in his quest for whatever the fuck he was going after this time.
"I know, Han, I know. I also know my words mean nothing to you, but I wouldn’t hurt her. She’s my mate and I plan on protecting her and fighting alongside her, and for her.
"If you’ll please excuse me, I have to say hello to Nathaniel Kravoski," Kaia said earnestly to Han, and for a moment there, Dalrae felt the sincerity.
The fact that Kaia was insistent on him being mated to Kim Rania was something they needed to note. He seemed honest about that and he seemed to want to devote himself to her.
He hadn’t tried to be chaotic at the gates and he even knew that she was sleeping. He told Chang Wook not to wake her up, and Rania had been excited to see him. Maybe he truly was the truth, right?
Then again, it wasn’t daily that the heartless barbarian decided to take a stand, and that too for one of their own. Maybe they would believe him, but until then, he would try and help them make sense of the situation.
"Wait, what? Nathaniel as in the king of Drarun? That Nathaniel?" Oshita asked, like he had heard him wrong.
The vampire king was all shades of dangerous. He was a ruthless man, Chang Wook kind of ruthless, and he seemed to have been provoked one too many times. He was bad and he loved it on weird scales.
Many who had encountered him had sworn on their lives that they wouldn’t wish for his horror on anyone. The vampire kind was the kind of bad that the realm would be scared of but then Kaia was dangerous too.
Standing there and listening, Paloma knew King Nathaniel better and in so many ways, than anyone the people here. She knew him because they had grown up together, had been best friends, for years on end.
They had lived like brothers and sisters in a time when love and life were worth fighting for. Paloma knew him so well that he didn’t even scare her but that didn’t make it any easier on her to be listening here.
Then again, Paloma had taken her stance this time, and she wasn’t going to go back on it, no matter what she faced in the coming days.
All the things that anyone wanted to know about Nathaniel Kravoski, Paloma knew so well, and if they wanted that info, she could divulge them but as it was, as they were here, and despite Kaia knowing the relationship Paloma had with the vampire king, he didn’t say anything.
It was almost like he was just trying to ebay his best. But would that explain to Oshita what the hell was going on at the moment, or would they leave him hanging dry like that?
"You can’t be serious. That man is not one to take an attack kindly and knowing you and your methods, I don’t think you mean talking to him like a civilized person, no?
"Or is there another one that I don’t know about?" Oshita asked as he looked at their friends.
They were still standing awkwardly in the hallways and looked like they could make even more messes than they already had made but goddamn, Nathaniel Kraviski was something else.
"I think he means just that," Rani said with a smile and Oshita looked at her like she was supposed to prevent any more wars with Incayon.
But what else was there for Rania to think of? Incayon had already been dragged to air and just because they were still calm this morning didn’t mean that everything would remain as calm in the coming days. After all, the tornado was where.
"Oh, you people can’t be serious right now," Oshita added with a sigh.
"Yes, Oshita. That Nathaniel, unless you know of another," Kaia teased, and Oshita wasn’t sure if that was a compliment or if the fact that Kaia was testing him meant they were not enemies. It was hard to tell, really and that was frustrating on some levels.
"Why you little—" Oshita said, ready to show Kaia how good he was at using his words, but Kaia interrupted him.
