Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 173: The Loud Calls For War
[RANIA]
After Rania’s declaration and Daehyun’s appearance, the werewolves of Incayon were still unbelieving.
They knew Kim Rania always had dirt on everyone and there was a chance that she had coerced Daehyun into agreeing, given Lee Daehyun had shown up a little too conveniently and on time to defend Rani.
It was almost like a plan and while it wasn’t, that was just what everyone seemed to think.
However, that didn’t matter right now, because Rania had given the command and her wolves had to follow. That was the impact of being a true-born alpha. Power came so naturally and right now Rania was using that to her advantage.
"Kylian, get the warriors ready. I don’t want any intruders here. I’ll go change and come help with the defense," Rani said before she looked at her brother and Daehyun, not to mention Dalrae and her parents.
They were all staring at her. They looked like they were not sure what was going on and honestly, they figured that they would get more confused if they asked more questions. Even Chang Wook hadn’t known that Kim Rania was still the reigning alpha of Incayon.
"What are you doing here?" Luna Kim asked once they all had gone into Rania’s office which was big enough to accommodate all of them. There were so many questions and frankly, Rania didn’t have the time to answer them.
But hearing her own mother asking her what she was doing back home, that itself made her feel a pang in her heart. She had expected this from her father, the former alpha, but maybe things really did change.
Maybe there were things that they all couldn’t agree with, but was it really Rania that the Luna was talking to? Was it really Rania who she was addressing with a cold and yet careful voice at the moment?
Sure, their daughter was undoubtedly a wildling, but their son was worse than Kim Rania. If there was someone who was entitled to the Incayon throne, then it was Chang Wook. He had been born for it.
However, he hadn’t wanted it, and that’s why Rania dh to be prepared from childhood. That was a truth that haunted Chang Wook in so many ways.
Seeing his little sister so hurt and broken because of things that he could have prevented was a reminder that even though he had managed to save himself, he had failed to save his little sister.
He had imagined that she would have been safe, but she never was, and that was cruel. But maybe this time, he would be there to cushion her, right?
"You heard what she said. She is the reigning alpha. If that doesn’t make any sense to you, let me explain in simpler terms for your simple brains that even got you disowning your child," Chang Wook began and Rania knew that this was a gone case.
There was no coming back from this. She had seen Chang Wook angry a few times earlier and boy had she been scared for the people he had targeted with his anger.
Of course, she didn’t care about herself enough to worry about what she would feel if the man was angry with her, but damn, he was a lot of things that she couldn’t even refer to as villain-ish when he was mad. But he didn’t stop there, no.
"Treating her like this when she is your only child, makes me wonder what the fuck you gave birth for then. What was it you wanted all this time, huh? Wasn’t it ever enough? The power, the lust for more?
"Were you both never tired of reaching for it? Was that why you made stupid decisions that cost more than you thought possible? Rani is back and if you hurt her this time, I don’t care if you’re the goddess herself, I will fight you on her behalf.
"Let this be a warning and a threat, or even a promise. I don’t care how you think of it, but I will make you suffer in ways that you haven’t even thought of yet. I may be an outsider, but for her, I would do anything.
"So be careful how you treat her, because if you hurt my little sister again, then I swear, Hyejin, I will burn your brainless Byungho to the ground. You sat by for years and watched as Byungho fucked up again.
"You watched as he ruined the only good thing that Incayon had after so many years. You should have been her mother and yet you chose to be the silent dutiful wife to the power-hungry Kim Byungho.
"Look where you are right now, still the same after so many years. I warn you both, Hyejin and Byungho. If you hurt her, then you won’t even need to worry about Seojoon anymore," Chang Wook wanted before angrily walking out the door, leaving behind a team that was flustered.
The former alpha and his Luna stared at the door that was off its hinges already, thanks to the heavy slamming that Chang Wook did. They knew he was right to be worried. They knew he had every right to go off on them.
He had every right to be protective over his little sister.
He had every right and even as the alpha and Luna reeled from the fact that Chang Wook had casually addressed them by their names despite them being his parents, they knew that they had both been terrible parents.
The silence in the room after Chang Wook left was louder than the warriors who were outside lining up and ready to fight.
Daehyun wasn’t sure what he could say as the situation was as awkward as hell. He, just like Rania and Dalrae, had never heard anyone call the Kims by their first names and with so much anger and spite.
This was an all-new to them and Rani was curious.
The way Chang Wook had spoken to her parents was intriguing. It was like the man knew her parents better than her. Maybe when they were done with the defense, she would ask the right questions, right?
"I’m tempted to ask what that was about, but I have a feeling you will lie to me. So what is it you want, Luna Kim? I am the alpha, I have always been the alpha and until my last breath, I will always be the Incayon alpha.
"Dalrae accepted the king’s proposition for face value because someone had to step up, but she never accepted the role of the alpha. She stepped in so I could come back and rule.
"Now that all is clear and set, you can either join the wolves in protecting me and my friend, or you can go back to your rooms and sleep. I don’t want to hear a word of anything you have to say frankly.
"Goodbye," Rani said to her parents, making sure to show them the door.
She knew that there was a lot that she needed to come to terms with and that she needed to find a way of staying safe. She could see the wheels spinning in Dalrae’s head on why Rania had to go out there and join the defense while she was the target. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
But Rani had made her choice.
She would lead her warriors to war.
