Chapter 154: I’ve Always Liked To Play With Fire

[RANIA]

[1 Week Later]

"I’ll pay the king a visit," Rania said to Chang Wook who was currently living with her in the Incayon woods. They had found a bunker from the old times, one that the soldiers of the Old Obren used to hide while keeping watch.

It wasn’t exactly as good as the house they had been in with the human, but it would serve the purpose.

Dalrae had tried to make it look better and even Paloma had given them some items to keep them sane. But all of that meant nothing to the two who would reside there.

For a whole week, they had struggled to adjust and while it wasn’t easy, their knowledge of the Obren landscape had helped them a lot, not to mention Odelia constantly showing up to disrupt their scent and distract the other wolves had made their lives a little easier.

"I’ll come with you," Chang Wook said and Rania looked at him with a blank face.

She had so many questions and was tempted to ask this man who he really was away from all that she was aware of, but she knew that it would probably spook him and frankly, she didn’t have the strength to deal with losing another person.

"Well then, let’s get going," Rania said and Chang Wook looked at her curiously. He had known Rania so well and he knew that if Rania agreed that easily, she was planning something very dangerous.

Chang Wook may have wanted to murder the king and make him pay, but if Rania wasn’t strategic, she would be on the receiving end of the short stick and that would be too son, even for her.

"Are you sure about this?" Chang Wook asked, even though he had already started packing for the long walk to Obren.

They wouldn’t be suing horses because then it would be harder to sneak into the palace. Not to mention the fact that the horses would have their scents and they had worked so hard to get to this point.

"Yeah. you done?" Rania asked and Chang Wook just nodded. But he noticed something about Rania, something that made him wonder if the woman was okay.

"You’re not masking your scent?" Chang Wook asked and Rania just shrugged.

"It’s dangerous out there—"

"We’re all going to die someday. I won’t hide away anymore. Besides, it won’t make a difference no matter what I do. I prefer to be free while I can," Rania said and Chang Wook looked at her like she was something else.

Of course, she was done with all that had been happening. She no longer saw the need to hide, and she was going to be facing her enemies instead of hiding in the shadows like a coward. If the world wanted her gone, then she would face everything.

She no longer cared.

"Fine, let’s get going before the sun gets high and we won’t even have the strength to keep on going," Chang Wook whined and Rani let out a chuckle. She hadn’t expected him to be pout and on warning but then they no longer had to pretend with each other.

They had been together for the past few months and had known each other for longer.

Obviously, they had picked up each other’s habits.

"I’ll take you sightseeing in Obren if we make it to the palace by noon," Rani said and that was all the motivation Chang Wook needed to keep his best foot forward.

For four hours, the two siblings endured the morning sun and made their way to Obren. This time, with their masked scents off and the invisible spells undone, anyone who saw Kim Rania paved the way for her.

She knew that the rumors would spread about the woman who had been banished, making her way back to her. She knew that they wouldn’t rest until they got a good enough explanation for why Rania was back and well, they would get it, eventually.

Kim Rania was back and she was going to get her vengeance and justice. Just as Rani expected, she could see the wolves’ eyes gloss over as they mind-linked their friends about the reappearance of the psycho alpha.

She had always been an alpha to them because her aura had stayed, and now that she was in the company of Chang Wook, many were sure that Rani was not here for peace.

And they were right.

"Lock the gates! Kim Rania is headed to the palace!" the palace messenger said and the wolves in the palace scattered to safety, knowing so well that they could easily be collateral damage in whatever agenda Kim Rania had here this time.

They knew that she wasn’t here for pleasantries and that was something that was making Rania feel like she was invincible. Well, it always lasted a moment, before she went back to feeling like she was unwanted. Then again, today was different.

Today, she didn’t care.

She had no reason to focus on people who would always hate her and run in fear of her.

"Look at them thinking they can really stop us from walking in," Rania said to Chang Wook who was watching his little sister with a proud smile.

Sure he had an idea of how psychotic she was and was supposed to be worried for her, but seeing them terrified of Rania, made him want to tell them that he was here with her and to fight all of her battles, regardless of where they ended up.

"Let’s give them a show, shall we?" Chang Wook said and Rania excitedly nodded. The huge Obren palace gates stared at them like there was something that they were supposed to do and yet hadn’t done in a long while.

The fifteen soldiers who were guarding the gates looked at the siblings skeptically, clearly not sure if this was a fight that they would win. Of course, they wouldn’t. The Viking and the psycho were on one side. That in itself was the real definition of hell for them.

"Yup," Rani added before she and her brother descended on the fearful warriors who were staring at them defeatedly, probably questioning their choices to enlist in the Obren military. No amount of preparation would ever prepare them for the Kim siblings.

They had no weapons on them compared to the palace warriors. However, they had managed to hold their own, occasionally using their claws to their advantage.

The only good thing about this insane and bloody fight was that Kim Rania and her brother didn’t fight to kill the royal warriors, no.

These warriors were just doing their duties and as a former warrior, Chang Wook understood the pressures that came with being on the frontline for assholes who probably wouldn’t even remember their names.

Five minutes later, the warriors were on the ground nursing wounds, while the Kim siblings were walking through the gates they had forced the warriors to open.

"Don’t take another step," a palace warrior said and Rania just sighed as she looked at him. This man really didn’t know how to read the room, yeah? His friends were already on the ground nursing broken bones and yet they still had the guts.

"Kim Rania, and Kim Chang Wook. What a good day to be seeing the Kim siblings," Jungwoo greeted with a knowing smirk.
