Chapter 112: More Complications or Answers??

[JIHOON]

"When a wolf loses his or her true mate, they go crazy and do things out of the ordinary. They become rebellious, they act as if they have no regard for life. None of their actions after losing their mate is ever justifiable, because it doesn’t make sense to anyone, but them.

"Losing a mate is risky, because it makes them go berserk. They never think straight, and frankly have no reason to keep pushing anymore.

"It’s even worse for the mates who lose their mates to death; they never rise up again and on most occasions, if they don’t choose a second mate, they go crazy, and die on their own.

"Well most of the mates never choose second mates, because the bond with the first mate is irreplaceable, not to mention the goddess forbids having two mates," Daehyun explained and Jihoon listened carefully.

He was loving this class and honestly, as he listened, he could only think of one person. He didn’t imagine that he was a victim, instead, he had a reference to the most unexpected of thoughts at the moment.

Even after all these months, and years, even when he had no reason to mention her, he always found himself doing it and right now, he had done it again.

"So that explains why Rania is a crazy woman. Damn, it must have hit her really hard. But quick question master, when will she get to die?" Jihoon asked and Daehyun involuntarily choked on air.

Of the things he had been expecting, his best friend mentioning Rania and asking the most absurd of questions wasn’t really it. How much more unhinged could the alpha get? Maybe they really belonged together, but then Daehyun couldn’t tell his alpha that.

He couldn’t risk his head for a woman who was away from the realm for crazier reasons.

"Well, she did lose her mate. Also the side effects are similar for the mates who are rejected and the mates who lost theirs are the same," Daehyun said and Jihoon just nodded, as he listened to his best friend ramble about so many things.

As Daehyun went on about the side effects of losing a mate, delving into details, making Jihoon realize that there were so many things that had happened to other people, thighs that he was only hearing about now, and boy was he new to all of that.

"If we can only have one true mate, then why did I not go through all that you just said? It’s like I was free riding. Or maybe the goddess was just merciful to me, right? It means I’ve been a lucky man, right?" Jihoon said happily, like it was the best thing that could have happened to him.

"And Rania didn’t go through all that too," Daehyun said, like he was continuing the discussion that Jihoon had started on Rania. But would Jihoon face his probable reality? Would he accept the chance that he and Rania were more alike than they cared to admit?

"Yeah. She didn’t get depressed about her mate, even though she was rejected by the endless wolves who had shown up to claim her," Jihoon added subconsciously before he scolded himself for thinking of the woman who took his mate from him.

"Well, there you have it. Maybe it was because she didn’t get her true mate. But tell me something, brother, what is all this talk about Rania... Are you considering the psycho for a mate?

"I know you’re crazy, but that crazy?" Daehyun asked, even though he knew what he was doing. It wasn’t going to be simple but he needed to know if there was a chance that his best friend was recognizing the linkages between him and Rania.

Anyone who had seen them together could tell of the dark chemistry that bound them together but maybe fate would make the final decision, right?

It didn’t matter what happened, because, at the end of the day, soulmates always found their way to each other anyway.

"You’re no fun. Anyway, thanks for the insights brother, I need to be somewhere right now," Alpha Jihoon said to Daehyun when they were done with the lessons.

It wasn’t anything new, and Jihoon having heard what he had today, needed to get more insights on the mating issue. It wasn’t daily that he lived like a man who hadn’t lost, when in reality, he had lost something. He had lost Yanna, a woman who was never his, to begin with.

"Sure, be careful," Daehyun said to his brother before they parted ways.

With Daehyun gone, Jihon stepped out into the night. He wanted to think straight, but more than anything, he wanted to go to an old friend, a person he valued over the years.

Jihoon went to the Valley of the Whites and he didn’t go to meet Han Seong, no.

He went to meet his secret friend, Brent.

Brent was a warlock who had met Jihoon in the worst of circumstances, but at least that had ended in the both of them being friends. Sure, Han Seong was Jihoon’s old friend, but Brent was always his ace, no matter what happened.

"What business do you have here, wolf?" the guard at the entrance of the Warlock kingdom asked.

"I have come to see Brent. He is expecting me," Jihoon said to the warlocks who told him to wait, as one of them went to check with Brent if he was supposed to meet Jihoon.

Wolves and the warlocks were living in separate kingdoms for a reason and they didn’t want to mix it all, especially with the probable shit that King Seojoon would give the warlocks.

It was simply never worth it, but maybe this time, the only thing they could focus on was the sheer fact that this was an unofficial mission.

"He’s clear to get in," the warlock who had been sent said and Jihoon just nodded respectfully, before bowing to the warriors.

He knew they could have him on his knees in a second with their magic and he couldn’t do shit to them.

Maybe he was good at reading situations, but if that was true, he could have read through the walls and hundreds of chaos that he and Rania had triggered over the years.

The walk to Brent’s house wasn’t that long, given Jihoon had come here one too many times. Brent was always the one he went to when he needed unofficial missions done.

Of course, Jihoon could have used Han Seong, but Han had told the young alpha that he wasn’t going to do his dirty bidding that could push both factions into an unprecedented war.

"I finally get to see you after so many months, brother," Brent said to Jihoon who just rolled his eyes at the warlock. He was acting like they had stared for so many years apart when in a real sense.

"We saw each other before I fell sick, you hopeless warlock," Jihoon responded as they both pulled each other into a brief hug. And when they pulled apart, Brent noticed that his friend looked worn out, like he had been battling so many demons for a while now.

"Well, I’m guessing you’re here because of the psycho girl, right?"
