Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 100: Don’t Ask The Impossible of Me
[RANIA]
Dalrae had a lot of questions, and Rania had been expecting them. But some of those questions were linked to a time-ticking bomb, one that could go off at any time and frankly, Rania didn’t have the strength to deal with all of that right now.
"You tricked my wolf into healing me," Rania said when realization dawned on her that she wasn’t feeling any pain. It was crazy, but then she couldn’t deny the kind of impact Dalrae had on her. It was just something that she couldn’t fight anymore anyway.
"Who is your true mate, Rani?" Dalrae asked and suddenly, Rania gently pulled Dalrae from the hug, and looked at her face which was well-lit by the moonlight.
She could see the crease her sister had gotten for worrying too much about her, and she knew it would only worry her more if Dalrae knew more than she already knew.
Rania knew Dalrae would find Paloma and try to figure out the truth. However, it seemed like that was a truth that Kim Rania wasn’t willing to take today.
Her life was already a mess and if her sister knew more then the king would probably go on his knees to beg Rania to come back into Dalrae’s life and that was something Rania didn’t want right now.
She wanted to be free; to go away and think straight even for a while. Her punishment by the king didn’t mean shit to her, because as a rogue, Rania could hide her scent so well. It didn’t matter who was doing what to her.
She was a master of so many trades and nothing scared her. That was her secret though.
"It’s getting late, Dalrae, and we haven’t gotten enough food. How about we pluck some berries and eat them? Our wolves can always filter the bacteria so we won’t be affected even if we didn’t wash the fruits.
"Besides, even if we were to wash them, where would we start, right?" Rania rambled and once again, Dalrae just sighed. She knew her answer wasn’t going to come today or any other time soon.
However, Dalrae had clues now, and that was something she never had earlier.
All she needed to do was to wait for the time to come, when the answers would show themselves to her, right?
"Fine, let’s go eat berries like wild animals, shall we?" Dalrae pouted and Rania just kissed her forehead. Her sister was a piece of work but Rania wouldn’t have it any other way. She loved her so much.
"Yes, absolutely," Rania said like it was the most normal thing for the both of them. Then again, she didn’t want to fight with her sister, and didn’t want to be the one to make Dalrae even sadder than the woman was.
And so the two sisters walked away into the night, under the moonlight, as they looked for berries that could keep their stomachs full. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
They knew what tomorrow would hold, but none of them wanted to face that new reality. Of course, Rania knew that it was a given, but even then none of that would have prepared her for the fact that this time, Dalrae would be home, and alone.

"Hey, Rani, wake up," Dalrae said, when she noticed it was already morning. Rania’s hours were running low, and soon enough, every wolf in Obren would want a piece of her.
Granted, Kim Rania would have no problem tearing them apart, but even then, Dalrae didn’t want to turn her friend into a murderer this early. Given Rania’s slight insight into what she had done and why she had done it, Dalrae was sure she would stand by her sister till the end of their days.
"Even I never woke up this early when I was the alpha. Where the hell are you even going right now?" Rania grumbled, clearly not appreciating the fact that she had been woken up. But she knew how hard this was for Dalrae.
Soon they would be an alpha and a rogue, and that would mean the laws of the lands would take effect, and even Dalrae would never be able to help Rania if her time had passed on this side of the realm.
"We need to wash up. Also, I’m feeling hungry, thanks to you," Dalrae complained as she munched whatever was left of the fruits they had picked yesterday.
It was never going to be enough, but didn’t Dalrae already know that anyway? Maybe in the end, the only thing that mattered was that they would always have each other’s backs, even though right now, Rani was alone in so many ways.
"Dalrae—" Rania said to her sister, who was already sitting up. She was aware that this next part was going to be hard, but no matter what happened, Lim Dalrae would always have to be ready for this. The two sisters didn’t have a choice anyway.
"If you’re going to break my heart even further, don’t say anything, alright?" Dalrae mumbled under her breath, even though she knew that was impossible right now.
Everything Rania did broke her heart. Rania was alone, and she wouldn’t be having someone to look over her, someone to defend her when things went sideways, someone to watch over her when she felt like her world was coming down.
That didn’t sit right with Dalrae but then it wasn’t like there were so many options at the moment.
"You know I need to do this, sister. I will be gone for a while, not forever but in that while I need you to be there for yourself. I need you to protect yourself and trust no one. I need you to choose yourself. I don’t care what anyone says.
"If you feel unsafe, you tell me. I’ll always be lurking around, but only for you, Dalrae," Rania said, and Dalrae looked at her hopefully.
Maybe Rania wasn’t completely leaving.
Maybe she had contingency plans, maybe there was more to this. But even then that didn’t change the fact that Kim Rania had been through hell even with her head held high.
Dalrae was conflicted between accepting what Rania was telling her and trying to convince Rania to let her tag along. Incayon would be okay under the rule of alpha Kim anyway, so maybe Dalrae’s thinking wasn’t wrong.
"That doesn’t make it easier to accept, Rani," Dalrae pouted even though she knew this had long been coming.
Last night, Dalrae had been wondering about what would have happened if Rania had left earlier like she wanted to. Dalrae wondered whether the goodbyes would be this painful or whether there was a chance that they would be happy.
Then again wasn’t that just her wishful thinking anyway?
"I need you to make me a promise, Lim Lim. I need you to take care of our people. And I need you to forget about me. Thinking of me will only bring you more pain. Because wherever I go, I will be hunted.
"I don’t want you doing something that could ruin the beautiful future you have, sweet sister," Rania said comfortingly and Dalrae looked at her like the woman was asking Dalrae to commit another crime.
It was crazy enough that she was leaving. And now she wanted Dalrae to forget her? Maybe there was something about why Rania was so insistent on leaving and on Dalrae forgetting her.
But then Rania herself, knew that no matter what happened, no matter how their lives turned out, they would always remain in the same state. They would always call out to each other, even in their silence.
They were linked in one too many ways and more than anything, Kim Rania was more than willing to stake her life for Dalrae.
"No Rani. I won’t agree to forget you. I refuse to, even if you’re branded the psycho of the century. It will stand beside you like I know you would stand beside me.
"Ask another thing of me then, but not to forget you, because I might just forfeit the alpha crown and force myself to be a rogue too," Dalrae said and Rania just sighed. Her sister was being a stubborn mule but at least she already expected that.
"If you want me to lead our people and not run away, then you must meet me every three months, at the southern supernatural gates next to altunia. Otherwise, you have no deal."
