Chapter 140: Chapter 140 - Skills Continued

After posting, he didn’t waste any time. He dealt with various affairs, most of all business, as Lucas had a pod and was now in the game. Lumi handed off various tasks to him and promoted the business in various posts.

His voice was already public, so he additionally recorded his public endorsement, which went on Gabriel’s channel. All his connections came full circle.

When he finished, he was itching for some sleep. In bed, his mind began wandering...

Dark magic...

Lumi thought it over.

According to Convergence...

His eyes suddenly went wide as he found his mind entering a familiar place. He was back in his mind palace.

"Of course!" Lumi couldn’t help but mutter. It made logical sense, he had only missed it. No wonder he felt a tugging in the back of his mind.

Any demigod could easily manipulate souls. Perhaps not all with precision, nor able to do anything they wanted with it, but the fact remained that they all had the ability to affect the soul. Then, would Rena merely put it in his mind, or in his soul? If she had the ability, which she clearly did, it would make more sense to put information like that directly in someone’s soul.

Renan got up, removing sleep from his mind for now. His body no longer required as much rest after his soul had been strengthened by Narinder.

Starting now, he would spend at least four hours every day on Earth reading through the dark magic materials.

...

Back on Masteria, Lumi looked to apply his skill points.

Rank Two would give him four skill points every level. At level 34, he had 20 skill points.

If everything was the same as in his past life, he would simply put a single point in Lance of Light, and the rest in various passives.

However, his new skill page and knowledge demanded an entirely new line of thinking. He hadn’t been able to focus on the rest of his core skills yesterday, so now he went to look over the details.

Light Mastery had a dark counterpart.

[Dark Mastery - Dark Passive]

[Available only in Dark Mode]

[All dark magic attacks will inflict an additional hit at 50% strength. Additionally, should the skill consume less than 1% of the user’s MP, they will instead use 0 MP.]

The effect was still almost unbelievable to him, despite him reading convergence. A free spell was absolutely ridiculous. It was common knowledge that MP was the currency to perform magical actions.

Even warriors, to a lesser extent, still used MP for skills.

However, was light not creation? By abusing several principles, mixing them with high level magical theory and high personal power, it was possible to create such an ’impossibility’.

He moved on.

His new skills had been continuously referencing modes. This was what had most troubled him most until he found this buried in his panel. It was the primary purpose of Alton mixing light and dark.

[Mode Gauge]

[Current Mode: Light]

[Light: 100%]

[Dark: 1%]

[Upon a successful cast of a light skill during Light Mode, increase dark gauge.

Upon a successful cast of a dark skill during Dark Mode, increase light gauge.

Upon filling both gauges, enter Convergence for 6 seconds. After Convergence, enter the next mode.]

This led them to his final core skill.

[Convergence]

[Gain access to Convergence skills.]

His combat style had been shifted in an entirely new direction. It was more important than ever now to get used to his new dark skills, for he would be forced to use them.

He was locked into a new combat flow. Light, into Convergence, into Dark, into Convergence, into Light once more.

Lumi took a deep breath and sighed with satisfaction as a smile appeared on his face. No matter how unexpected events were, it was only beneficial for him.

He applied a skill point into Lance of Light. Its corresponding dark skill was Void Sphere, which automatically gained a skill point as well.

He then applied a skill point into Torment. However powerful this new Convergence skill was, he had to test it.

For the rest of his points...

[Blessing of Darkness - Dark Skill: 8/20]

[Damage Taken - 20%. Magic Attack +12]

[Agile Caster - Neutral Skill: 5/10]

[Attack Speed +2. Int +10]

[Spell Expert - Neutral Skill: 3/10]

[Attack Speed +1. Magic Attack +3. Damage +5%]

The new skills had drastically increased his power. If he had to estimate, he could likely take on two of his previous self.

That was no exaggeration.

Power was often misunderstood.

If someone’s stats were all 100, one might think that someone with all their stats at 200 was twice as strong.

That was completely and utterly wrong.

How could someone that dealt twice as much damage, took half as much, was twice as fast, attacked twice as fast, and reacted twice as fast as you possibly be equal to merely two of you?

Though his raw stat increase may seem subtle, it was significant. Just as importantly, he was sure his new spells would be add significantly to his combat capacity.

Lumi left the library with his ship in tow. While taking it along held some impracticalities, the benefits would far exceed them.

He dragged it along to right outside town, then got in. It would be only slightly troublesome, but it was a small enough vehicle that he could traverse through the forest as long as he paid sufficient attention.

Even if he made a small mistake, it held no external moving parts that vines caught get stuck in. Worst case, he crashed into a tree. Nothing would happen. The vehicle would fall, and then it would still be operational.

It wasn’t as if he would go at an insane speed. This wasn’t an airplane from Earth. Here, he could fly as slow or as fast as he wanted. There was no trouble maintaining altitude even without moving forward.

On the airship, he began flying up to the north east. It was time for him to confirm the Witches Stump for himself.
