Chapter 135: Chapter 135 - More Players

A blue gelatinous mass was on the ground. On its surface, was a simple, almost child-like face. It stared up at him, cutely.

[Blue Slime - Level 14]

There was no great intellect behind that face. It reared its body up, heady to launch itself forward.

With his curiosity of what created the noise satisfied, he entirely ignored it and proceeded to his destination. He held the ship with his left hand, leading it.

Blue Slime: ???

For a moment, it hesitated. It never once anticipated being ignored as a response. Should should it do...

Well, its mind wasn’t anywhere near smart enough to think. It threw itself directly towards Lumi’s side.

Lumi struck out with his right arm, brushing the nuisance aside. His arm forcibly splattered the slime, turning it to nothing.

[EXP +9]

Even when accounting for equipment, the average level ten warrior would only have around 60 strength tops. He had 65, alongside additional attack power. Brushing a slime less than half his level didn’t even require magic.

Ignoring the brief interlude, he continued moving along the path until he finally saw the city in the distance. Keeping a tight grip on the ship, he guided it into the city rather than leaving it outside. Leaving a ship that expensive unattended anywhere was an invitation for problems he had no patience for.

...

"What the..."

Holding on to a simple wooden wand, a young man stood wide-eyed, frozen in place. What had he just witnessed?

He had finally achieved level 10, and gotten his class. Finally, he was considered an elite among players. He was looking for some new, stronger enemies to test out his spells on, when suddenly he found some dude with a tiny aircraft.

He had observed the strange man from far away for a moment, intending to figure out just what that NPC was up to. It was only when trying to analyze the NPC that he realized that it was a player!

He was about to reveal himself, but the distinctive bubble of a blue slime distracted him. He was just considering how to fight it, when he saw the man continue walking as if there wasn’t a high level enemy right in front of him.

"Watch o-" Before he could even finish his cry, he saw the strange man casually brush his arm to the right, as if he was cleaning himself from dust. Yet, rather than any other outcome, the movement had completely destroyed the slime, turning it to bits.

???

"But..." The man stood slackjawed, watching the figure retreat. "Someone can do that... already?"

As Lumi entered the city, he heard the players before he had any clear view of them.

They were everywhere. Among players, Elenora was considered one of the main cities. It was considered the magician city. Most players who wished to use magic came here.

Most of them were easy to identify, even without using system features. It was simple. If they acted off, they were likely a player.

Some common traits were weapons, particularly sharp melee weapons, out in public spaces with no particular reason for them to be. They spoke with loud voices with no real care for their surroundings. They formed in-ground with other players, while ignoring so called NPCs..

Groups of them stood around having conversations full of references that would have been incomprehensible to any actual resident of Elenora.

"I have a bomb."

Lumi blinked, hearing that. He had almost forgotten how strange the average player acted. When it came to players, he was used to the experts who took the ’game’ seriously. Even Lena was only strange with him, and not openly throwing bomb threats in public.

"I HAVE A BOMB!!!" Several armed guards suddenly appeared next to that player, putting a hand on his shoulder, with clear intentions of bringing him elsewhere.

"Zero people can’t make up a hundred days!"

Lumi lightly hung his mouth open at that one. It was obvious just from hearing it that a player had sad it. After all... what kind of statement was that?

He stook his head to rid himself of the distracting thoughts, and kept his attention on his destination.

He was nearly past one group of players when the ship caught their interest. He understood immediately why. It was too visible and too obviously expensive, and players at this stage of the game had not encountered many things that were valuable..

Three of them moved to cut off the path. They spread out just enough to make walking around them inconvenient without being entirely deliberate about it.

"Hey," one of them called. "Where’d you get that?"

Lumi slowed. He looked at them. "I got it from Herene. That is a floating island. I have a destination I would like to get to quickly. Please move aside."

They did not move. The three of them exchanged looks, instead. After they silently contemplated, their gaze looked back at Lumi.

"What does it do? How exactly did you get it?"

Lumi still replied respectfully. "I don’t have time to chat right now. Move aside, please."

The leader’s eyes twitched. "Why are you being so weird about it? We’re just asking."

Lumi internally groaned, then looked at them properly. Level 11, 12, 13. All of them freshly across the First Rank threshold, which made them strong by the current standards of the player population. Which meant almost nothing in terms of actual context.

"I apologize if I was rude, but I must repeat myself." Lumi said, keeping his voice even. "Move. I have somewhere I need to be."

They didn’t move. One of them slowly spoke. "Say... why are you dragging that thing around?"

Another made the connection. "Yeah. It’s so much easier to put things in your inventory. Unless you can’t..."

"But if you can’t," The last finished. "Then theoretically, anyone could take it."

Lumi’s gaze sharpened. "Is this a threat? I’d think carefully about that."

"About what?" The tallest of them grinned. "What exactly are you going to do?"

Lumi gripped his wand and replied evenly. "I’m going to cast one spell. Then, the three of you will all die. It is not worth provoking someone significantly stronger than you."

It was to be expected, of course, that he was not taken seriously.

"Pfft."

"Ahahahaha!"
