Masteria Online: Shattering the Dark God's Grand Scheme-Chapter 134 - Kill Vegetables

He stood over the damaged soil and analyzed what he had just done.

In terms of raw impact, it was stronger than Light Shower and covered a larger area. In exchange, the mana cost was noticeably higher. And it lacked the piercing quality that made Light Shower held.

Just off that, he already had a clear sense of where it belonged in his arsenal.

One by one, he learned the rest of the Dark Spells that he could use, and tested them out on the field. Understanding the spells properly cost him time. What would cost him far more, however, was any flaws that may show up if he didn’t do this now.

By the time he was satisfied that he had properly understood his new arsenal, he made his way back to the port.

Azir had said he had prepared a vessel. He assumed it was a personal vessel built for only one person, though he was unsure how to find where his was.

Just as he was debating asking the supervisor...

"Sir Lumi," a young knight came up to him, giving a small bow. "I have been arranged to show you the way." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Lumi gave him a small nod and a smile. "Lead the way, then."

The Knight nodded. "Please, follow me."

They made their way around a bend, reaching the spot with smaller, personal vessels. It was built for one person.

The Knight handed a paper to him. "Sir Lumi, the instruction manual."

"No need." Lumi waved it off. He was already familiar with this model.

"Understood." The Knight took the paper back.

Lumi approached the vessel, examining it. The one man aircraft was made of a primarily white, stone-like material. Across, it held various golden inlays that ran across the entire edge and extended into the inside.

He boarded and settled in. The control scheme was surprisingly simple. For the most part, one simply pointed the ship in the right direction and it moved. The true complicated part was safety and maintenance to properly account for any unexpected events.

Lumi knew how to control that, too.

He shifted it in the right direction, setting sail for Masteria.

With travel time ahead and no other immediate demand on his attention, he opened his messages.

There were a great many of them. There were several matters that had accumulated in his absence. From his previous party, to his friends, to matters of sales. Several of the messages had clearly been waiting long enough that follow-up messages had been sent.

He began working through them methodically, focusing on efficiency.

When he reached Lena’s messages, he slowed down, paying careful attention to her words. It wasn’t because they were more important in terms of the larger picture. They weren’t. He just cared about her more than he did the others.

[Lena: I have become a spiked nematode. Do you know what that means, little one? It means I have become the main opposition to plantlife.]

[Lena: You think I’m joking. You think it’s lil Lena being quirky. No. I have been through several quests which consist of killing vegetables. I have killed onions. I have killed radishes. Love, what does it mean to kill a vegetable? Today, I have found out.]

[Lena: "Oh, our students have gone missing! Whatever shall we do!?" "Kill vegetables." Lumi, how does that make sense? Your students have gone kissing, presumably kidnapped or killed, and we are killing vegetables?]

[Lena: Allegedly, it’s helpful. Because the vegetable monsters are blocking the technology signals that we are trying to use to locate the children. Lumi, do you believe that? I don’t know if I do.]

[Lena: Though apparently, it’s the right answer. Well, that isn’t really right, is it? It’s more of an answer. Just because one road leads to a solution doesn’t mean you didn’t pick the worst road imaginable. I hate them!]

[Lena: Not the kids, I really like kids. But all the adults in this scenario all must have a pit in their head! I desperately want any of them to use at least a single IQ point! Even with all my effort, I can only slightly progress the search!]

[Lena: The good news, we’ve found some of the kids. Allegedly, the vegetables kidnapped them. Listen to me. Listen to me right now. That didn’t happen. I know it. How? Call it instinct~]

[Lena: Just kidding. It’s called having a functional brain."

She had been sending progress updates on the situation at the fairy academy. Somewhere around the third message he found himself smiling without quite deciding to.

Oh Lena.

His lovable lena.

He quickly typed a response.

[Lumi: I’m heading back to Elenora. After you finish with the fairy academy, you can meet with me once more. I’ll need you, in fact. I want you to co-host a raid with me.]

Her response came in a just a few minutes.

[Lena: LUMI! I love you! There’s a raid? What raid? Raiding like a pirate. Arghhh! No but seriously, let me know the details. I’ll take it seriously.]

Lumi had already posted a public announcement in the forums. Though, it was unreasonable to expect her to stalk his posts and read through them all in detail. He replied telling her to read it, then considered his next step.

First and foremost was his rank advancement with Merath. At some point, he’d need to collect Lena. They’d need new equipment, too. And the raid, which he had already told players about had to be prepared. The pieces were already aligned. Get the advancement, confirm the event with Lena, announce the raid officially, train, and then the day would come on its own.

Elenora began as a massive wall of green. Not a sea, but a wall. Even while flying high in the air, the massive entanglement of vegetation went up several thousand feet high. He could fly over it if he went higher, but that was not his purpose.

The canopy was one of the most dangerous parts of Elenora. The monsters there ranged to a significant level that Lumi had no reason to go to at the moment. Instead, he guided the vessel down toward the outskirts of Elenora, weaving it through the vegetation.

He finally landed, leaving the ship levitating slightly above the floor, and he got off, stepping onto the ground of Elenora once more. All around were countless thick trees, easily over a dozen meters thick, and hundreds of feet tall. Their thick branches formed various roads and floors. Lumi took a deep breath, feeling the nature.

"I love it." He couldn’t help but audibly exclaim. Somehow, Elenora has always felt similar to home for him.

In his past life, he had spent a lot of time here. As Merath stayed here, most magicians that learned from him also opted to stay in Elenora. As Lumi was originally a magician learning from Merath, he also spent countless hours in Elenora.

Bubble... bubble...

A faint noise made Lumi look to his right...
