Master of Dominion-Chapter 83:Mouse trap
With a ripping sound, Rael tore apart the body of a Withered bat with his bare hands before dropping the two halves onto the big pile of dead Withered spawns he stood on. He grabbed hold of the axe lodged into the skull of a dead Withered vermin, as well as the sword that pinned several others into the floor.
He tightened his shaky grip on the two weapons, bearing through the burning pain that coursed through his muscles.
Rael was covered in black blood, which served well to cover up the claw marks across his body, ones he’d forced his aether not to heal.
Rael was well pleased with the Uruz enhancement, even though he could tell that it seemed to be waning, not to mention the damage his prolonged use had caused his internal muscles, which was more focused on his biceps and triceps.
But the burning pain he could bear as long as his plan succeeded. He thrust the sword forward, piercing its tip into the body of a Withered bat, before slashing upward with the axe and cutting another one in half.
Through his ragged breathing, he looked at the remaining time left, which made his already curved lips curve even wider.
’Come on, you son of a bitch, here’s your fucking chance’, he challenged internally. After all, he’d already managed to slay the other Withered husk that had been weakened by both his and Iyvre’s attacks, which was what had really left him in his current state. Though it was weakened and limping on two wings and tentacles, it had still managed to cause some damage to Rael, as could be seen from the deep gash across his thigh up to his chest.
He should have bled dry from that alone, but he had control and stopped the flow of his blood in that area. This added injury even made his situation look dire to anyone except himself.
Rael knelt upon the huge pile of Withered corpses as he spat out mouthfuls of blood. He then glanced around at what remained of the wave, which had significantly reduced thanks to him, Iyvre, Yasmin and her wooden toy that had eventually been overwhelmed, and finally by the sigil attacks.
But yet the remainders were still many, and the pile beneath didn’t seem to intimidate them as they still rushed towards him, which would play well into his plans.
"Ughh," he groaned as he rose to his feet, abruptly swinging the axe down on a Withered vermin and bashing its head apart. He twisted his right grip, stabbing into another.
But then a Withered bat swooshed from above, using its clawed wings to cut a gash across his chest. Rael groaned, dropping his sword from the pain, only for his hand to shoot out and grab the bat before slamming it onto a Withered vermin. He slammed it again and again, then held the axe with both hands and brought it down on its head, cleaving the two spawns in two.
But yet from his flank, a Withered spawn lunged, clamping its maw towards Rael’s waist. He sighted the attack and saw he couldn’t dodge in time, so he swung his arm towards the jagged maw, protecting his waist but causing the vermin to dig its rotten flesh into his arm, breaking through the weakened Uruz enhancement and clamping onto it.
Rael roared in pain before lifting his other hand, letting go of the axe, and clenching it in a fist. He bashed his fist furiously on its head, again and again, until what remained of it was a broken pulp.
Rael staggered backwards before falling on his knees once again.
’Come on, come on.’
He directed his gaze far back to the territory fence, exactly to the outpost where Xaphxan stood still, watching the entire battle from the sidelines.
Xaphxan, immediately seeing Rael’s face and the blinking of one eye, immediately sprang into action as he yelled frantically.
"Boss!"
His shout drew the attention of both Iyvre and Yasmin, who was bleeding profusely from one arm and Ayobe within the compound.
They saw his horrified and desperate expression as he pointed toward a certain direction, making Iyvre and Yasmin turn towards Rael, who was on his knees with mortal injuries across his body.
He seemed on the verge of death, and if he wasn’t, the Withered spawns around him would make certain of it
Yasmin widened her eyes as an odd feeling she didn’t like hit her heavily in her chest. She struggled to rise to her feet as she tried conjuring a fireball from her palms, but she had run out of aether moments ago and had been relying on the treant and her poison potions until the treant died and her potions were spent; she didn’t know what to do.
Ayobe from within the compound immediately let go of the Sigil controls as she slipped into the shadows, rushing outside.
Xaphxan immediately conjured a sparking blue bolt within his palms, aiming it towards the ensuing swarm around Rael.
But then there was Iyvre, who was surrounded by more swarms. She was just about to use her movement technique when she noticed something odd that was plastered on Rael’s face.
A fucking smile.
And why, one may ask? That was because just as the Withered spawns were about to pounce on his weak form, a loud roar that seemed to carry human words resounded from behind him.
"MINE!"
The command stopped the Withered spawns in their tracks as a terrifying creature emerged from the woods behind Rael, revealing its chimeric figure that carried the humanoid face of Arzuk.
It extended its long claws towards Rael’s kneeling position, with a salivating expression crossing its inhumane form.
"Heh, you’re one ugly motherfucker," Rael smirked.
RUMBLE!
A blue bolt collided with Arzuk’s abominable form.
BOOM!
With a maddening smile on his face, Rael stimulated his aether, ignoring the burning pains across his body, he rolled behind the spasming body of Arzuk while taking hold of the sword.
"You won’t mind testing my new spell, bastard?" he spat as he placed the tip of the sword against his head, with large amounts of his aether pouring into it, making slight red currents course through the steel.
