Chapter 64: Chapter 64:Clash with a bronze warrior 2

Drogon paused his charge, staring at Rael with slight hesitation. ’A Bronze Warrior? No, his aether doesn’t match that,’ he thought, squinting his eyes. ’But he’s human. How and why is he protecting them? Or maybe he’s just a knight in shining armor.’

"Look, Samaritan, you do not want to get involved in these matters. I’ll advise you to turn a blind eye and walk away," Drogon said menacingly, trying to avoid a conflict with the human.

Rael stared at Drogon coldly. ’A Tiefling,’ he thought, his eyes trailing the markings and tattoos on Drogon’s exposed arms.

’And a cultist, too. Definitely the cult after the sisters and Xaphxan.’ He had known their troubles would eventually find him; he just hadn’t expected it to be so soon.

He had been in the woods practicing and honing his WarMaster’s Precision, discovering he could use the skill passively rather than just during techniques. He had been about to find an unlucky beast to test it on when he heard the skirmish. At first, he thought the sisters had encountered an aether beast, but the clashes of steel told a different story. He felt a mix of relief and anger that he had arrived when he did.

"A Bronze Warrior?" Rael curved his lips into a menacing smile. "You wouldn’t mind a spar, would you?"

Drogon was startled but then sighed. "Huff. I was trying to be cordial enough, but I guess you human men always try to save a damsel. So, don’t blame me," he smirked faintly.

"Don’t underestimate him," Yasmin warned Rael as she rose to her feet.

"I’m not. And don’t worry ,if I get hurt, your healing hands can fix me up," Rael said, winking at her.

"My healing hands are not—" Yasmin was about to retort, but Rael charged forward, surprising both her and Drogon. The Tiefling was infuriated by Rael’s audacity to charge at an opponent a full rank above him.

Drogon twirled his dagger to meet Rael’s slash, the human having appeared in front of him with astonishing speed. ’He’s fast,’ Drogon thought, raising his dagger as it clashed with Rael’s sword.

Clang!

Drogon planted his feet firmly into the ground, feeling a slight tremor pass through his arms. ’And strong, too.’

Unbeknownst to him, Rael had activated WarMaster’s Precision from the very start. Though it was a reckless charge, Rael wasn’t blind to the fact that this Tiefling outranked him.

Rael wasn’t taking any chances, even though he wanted to test the full extent of his newfound strength.

He twisted his grip on the longsword, thrusting it forward toward Drogon’s chest. Drogon parried the blade to the side, but Rael immediately whipped his free hand around and smacked him across the face. The blow caused Drogon to glare at him with fierce, newfound rage

Drogon growled as his blade glowed red. He slashed it toward Rael’s face, but Rael ducked, hacking his sword toward Drogon’s legs. Seeing the attack, Drogon leaped upward to dodge the blow and brought his dagger down in a powerful swing. Rael met the force with his sword, but the impact pushed him back.

"Watch out for his dagger! It’s poisonous!" Yasmin yelled from the side. She watched the continuous exchange of clashes, noting that Drogon was taking the upper hand. She hesitated to join in, but seeing the calm yet determined expression on Rael’s face, she decided to wait and attack only if it seemed Drogon was about to land a critical blow.

Honestly, Rael was thankful for her decision, as he was starting to truly enjoy the "spar."

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Rael parried three blows in rapid succession.being forced back, he pivoted his body and rolled, narrowly dodging Drogon’s dagger as it whistled through the space where his neck had just been.

Coming out of the roll, he slashed his sword toward Drogon’s flank.

Drogon’s eyes widened; seeing no chance to block, he tried to wrench his body out of the way. But the sword hissed through his robes, nicking the fabric and slicing a piece away.

Having escaped the strike, Drogon stared at the torn cloth before glaring at Rael. He raised his palm, his veins bulging with black energy, and clenched his fist. Rael immediately leaped into a backflip, bringing his sword down heavily on the mist-like palm that had manifested to crush him.

His sword whistled through the wraith-palm, passing through without causing any damage.

Rael landed several paces away, observing the spectral hand as it hovered beside Drogon. ’I damaged it before... it seems only aether attacks can affect it,’ he thought. Coming to that conclusion, Rael poured aether into his longsword, preparing to perform the Blood Rend technique.

But then Drogon growled and sent the wraith-palm scraping across the ground. The force shattered the earth, launching countless rocks toward Rael as fast as bullets.

"Shit!" Rael tilted his head as a stone whistled past, nicking his cheek and leaving a faint scar. He whipped his sword around, twirling it in his grip to parry and cut down the debris flying his way. Suddenly, he raised his gaze to see a tree being uprooted by the wraith-palm and hurled towards him, accompanied by a violent shockwave.

Bang!

He immediately slashed his sword horizontally, sending forth a red arc that split the tree in half. However, he barely had time to raise the flat side of his longsword to his side to block a clenched wraith fist. The impact slammed him through the tree to his right, shattering it into countless splinters.

Bam!

Rael skidded across the forest floor before slamming his back against a tree, finally bringing himself to a stop.

"That hurt," he whispered.

"You’re strong, no doubt, but if I were you, I’d leave now," Drogon said, stepping through the shattered remains of the tree trunk.

"Hehe," Rael chuckled as he rose to his feet. He stretched his back, tightening his grip on his sword. "You see, actually, I haven’t really exerted all of my might yet, so I’m not planning on leaving. Besides, you are encroaching on my lands."

"You’re a foolish one," Drogon replied, clenching his fist and making the wraith palm do the same.

"Hm, maybe. But enough talk, don’t you think?" Rael said. He planted one foot firmly in front and raised his longsword, willing his next attack to be as sharp as it could possibly be
