"Are both of you ready?!"

"Yes!"

"Yes!"

"Fight!"

Without further ado, the next match started with a swing of the referee's arm.

Smack!

A fist came flying and pushed Kesha's head back. A nosebleed started to drip down his face.

"Shit!"

Kesha groaned loudly.

The punch came so quickly that he didn't see it coming and only felt it land on his nose.

Smack!

Immediately after the punch, Julian kicked him on the thigh. It was clear that it would leave a bruise.

Then, as Kesha raised his arms in defense, Julian punched him in the stomach, causing Kesha to double over in pain.

Kesha tensed up his muscles to try to swallow some of the impact, but it was barely of any use.

"The Miner's Pickaxe!"

With his left, he chopped his hand down at Julian. It was like he acted as if his hand was the end of the pickaxe, but unlike the rocks in the mines, Julian dodged the blow with ease.

'I haven't decided on the name of my style yet, so I shall call the names Iron still!'

Julian had a quick thought and then decisively elbowed Kesha across his face with his sharpened elbow.

'Iron Elbow!'

The elbow cut into Kesha's cheek, leaving a deep gash. It was sharp like a knife.

At the side, the referee flinched, then hesitated for a moment before he decided to let the fight continue.

However, one person was already done.

"Aight, I am done!"

Kesha raised his arms in defeat and dryly chuckled before he hopped off the ring. He landed outside, walked back to the bench, and quickly pressed his towel against the bleeding gash.

"Eh?"

Julian raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"Darn it…"

The coach of Zvezda High pinched his forehead in annoyance, but he feared this might happen. Unlike others, Zvezda High's members didn't want to fight till they were all bloodied and bruised.

If they got injured for long durations of time, they would have to stay out of the mines, which would hurt them in the longer run, as only consistent workers got more work!

Those who got defeated in the first round looked sourly at the scene. They had worked day and night to get one chance in the nationals, and when they saw someone just give up like that, it made them quite angry.

At least fight till you can't anymore!

"The winner is Julian Noah! Next fighter, please!"

The referee shouted over to Zvezda High's bench, and from there, Mikhail rose to his feet and jogged over to the ring with a smile on his face.

"Are both fighters ready?"

The referee asked.

"Yeah!"

Mikhail said with a grin and moved to his fighting stance. It was a stance with a wide base and his fists raised.

"Yes…"

Julian said and stood confidently in his more upright stance. Unlike with Kiernan's defensive fighting stance, his was more offensive-oriented.

"Fight!"

The referee swung his arm down.

'Iron Smash!'

Julian's punch landed on Mikhail's right shoulder, knocking him back a step. It looked like when his punch landed, it reached all the way to the bone.

"Ouch!"

Mikhail painfully whimpered, and he lost the control of his right shoulder. In an instant, he lost the use of his right arm!

It was a painful loss!

"Yep, nope!"

Mikhail laughed and backflipped off the ring. He landed outside and quickly returned to his bench to apply some ice to his shoulder.

"Eh?"

Julian blinked blankly and awkwardly scratched the back of his head.

'Are these guys wimps or what? It was just one punch…'

"Mikhail, for fuck's sake!"

The coach erupted like a volcano.

"Dude, I am sorry, but this shoulder alone will take weeks to heal. Why should I risk greater injury when I have zero chance at winning? That's just stupidity!"

Mikhail let out a frustrated shout and then just walked away while pressing the ice bag against his shoulder. He wanted to go check it out at the doctor's office, as it felt like it was broken.

"The fight is over! The winner is Julian Noah! Karuza High will advance to the next round!"

Julian shrugged his shoulders and made his way down the ring, high-fiving the high-spirited members of Karuza High.

"It was… a strange victory, but a good one nonetheless. Let's go prepare for the last fight of the day!"

Coach Jin said with a smile.

He didn't want to relax quite yet. They still had one match before the first day was over for them.

As they left, Kiernan stayed behind for a moment, staring out towards Montclair High's ring. The fight was still happening over there.

Just like in the first round, Zachary was fighting from the get-go without letting other members of the team have a chance to experience the thrill of the nationals.

In front of Zachary, his opponent was shaking behind his raised arms. He had a nosebleed and a look of fear in his eyes.

It was clear that his opponent didn't have any fighting spirit left.

The referee was keeping a close eye on Zachary, but he wasn't quite sure whether he could even stop Zachary if he went too far!

Zachary raised his right arm and then smacked his opponent across the face. The block didn't do anything!

Ptui!

Teeth flew out of his opponent's mouth, and he sprawled down on the ground in a crumpled heap. It wasn't a fight anymore.

"Hmph, weak…"

Zachary suddenly grabbed him by the hair, lifted him up from the ground, and looked at his fear-struck eyes with a grin on his face.

"Hey, stop it!"

The referee ran over to him and tried to pull him off him, but Zachary just slapped him away. The referee stumbled back, falling to the ground.

The commotion attracted the attention of everyone in the stadium.

"It looks like something is happening in Montclair High's match! It's him again, Zachary!"

The commentator shouted with a panicked look, and he quickly received a word on his earpiece to stop commentating the fight.

The TV cameras also turned away from the fight. It would be disastrous if they captured another student getting gravely hurt on live television.

Through the far-away entrances, an extra pair of referees started rushing over to the ring, but they were so far that they wouldn't reach in time!

"Hmph!"

Zachary raised his fist, and punched towards his opponent, who had lost any will to fight long time ago, but before the punch reached, he got kicked in the ribs.

The punch stopped, but Zachary didn't even flinch despite the kick to the ribs. He only looked annoyed and turned to whoever just kicked him.

"The fight is over."

Kiernan said coldly.

"You…"

Zachary let go of the young man, stood up, and towered over Kiernan, his eyes blazing with anger.

He had shockingly also turned taller, easily towering over Kiernan as if he were a giant!

Kiernan fearlessly lifted his gaze and looked into his rageful, mindless eyes that had lost every bit of reasoning that the former Zachary had.

The stadium buzzed with excitement as it looked like the two most hyped-up students were going to duke it out suddenly!
