Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 98: Planting a Young Mr. Sterling in the Womb (2)
Seraphina and Ethan Sterling were going to their first date after their marriage.
Nathan’s car hurriedly drove back to the Sovereign Villa District.
"Chloe!"
Taking three steps in two, Nathan rushed through the corridor to the bedroom at the end of the hallway, and pushed the door open.
The lights inside were dim.
Chloe curled up, sitting in the corner of the bed, her hand still wrapped in gauze.
Seeing her, Nathan’s heart that was in his throat settled back to its place.
Turning on the light, he walked over quietly, squatting down in front of Chloe, gently holding her wrist.
"Chloe, is your hand okay?"
Chloe raised her face, gently shook her head.
Nathan raised his hand to brush away the long hair covering her face.
"What happened?" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Brother..." Chloe raised her face, tears welling in her eyes as she looked at him, "Why, why... is Ethan Sterling marrying Seraphina, why?"
"This..." Nathan took a deep breath, "Chloe, matters of the heart can’t be forced."
"No, it’s not like that!" Chloe suddenly raised her voice, "Seraphina doesn’t truly care for him, she’s just using Ethan Sterling."
"Chloe, I understand how you feel, but Seraphina... Nathan gently shook his head, "Seraphina isn’t like that."
"But..." Chloe frowned, "They literally didn’t know each other before, Ethan Sterling just came back a few days ago, and now they’re married? Don’t you think that’s too strange?"
"How do you know these things?"
"I... I peeked at your files." Chloe raised her face, "Brother, I can’t let Seraphina hurt Ethan Sterling like this, please help me, okay?"
"I haven’t figured out the reason behind all this yet, maybe... they truly are in love!"
Chloe reached out her hands, tightly grabbing his arm with her gauze-covered palms.
"It’s impossible, Seraphina was originally engaged to Adrian Chamberlain, how could she truly care for Ethan Sterling Brother? She’s just using him... using him to avenge the Thorne Family!"
Because of the excessive force, the gauze on her hand was soaked in blood.
Nathan watched with pained eyes.
Extending his arm, he gently released her grasp.
Nathan reached out to embrace her shoulder, comforting her by stroking her back.
"I promise you, I’ll find out what’s really going on. But you also have to promise me, don’t hurt yourself anymore, alright?"
Burying her face in his chest, Chloe gently nodded.
"Alright!"
Nathan helped her off the floor and settled her by the bed.
Taking the medical kit, he carefully replaced the blood-soaked gauze with fresh bandages.
Making her a cup of hot chocolate, he handed her a pill, placing it in front of Chloe.
"Listen, take the medicine and have a good sleep."
Chloe took the pill and swallowed it with the chocolate, lying on the pillow.
Sitting by the bed, he waited until she fell asleep, then rose to tuck her in, turning off the light as he left Chloe’s bedroom.
Walking into the study, he took a cigarette, lighting it and placing it between his lips.
Browsing through the documents on the desk, pausing on the page with Adrian Chamberlain’s details, Nathan halted his right hand.
Picking up the phone from the desk, he dialed Adrian Chamberlain’s number.
"Mr. Chamberlain, is it? I’m Nathan Foster, acting attorney for Caleb Thorne. Could we meet for a chat?"
On the other end, Adrian Chamberlain hesitated a moment before naming a bar.
Walking to the bedroom, he gently pushed the door open to confirm Chloe was still asleep.
Nathan quickly descended the stairs, started the car, and drove away from the villa district.
In less than an hour, he arrived at the bar where Adrian Chamberlain was.
Seeing him, Adrian Chamberlain waved his hand, prompting the men and women accompanying him to immediately leave the private room.
Looking Nathan over from top to bottom, Adrian Chamberlain raised his chin, signaling him to sit.
Pouring a glass of wine for Nathan, he pushed it in front of him.
"Attorney Foster, what do you want to talk about?"
"To my knowledge, you were once colleagues with my client Caleb Thorne, so I’d like to hear from you about the building collapse case."
"Haha..." Adrian Chamberlain held the glass, taking a sip of wine, "What I know, I’ve told the police. You could just check the records."
"I’ve looked at the records, but I’d like to hear it from you. As far as I know, you have some additional information."
"Tch—" Adrian Chamberlain chuckled, "Did Seraphina ask you to come?"
"As a party involved in the case, you have an obligation to cooperate with the police investigation, and..." Nathan maintained a formal attitude, "Once the trial begins, you could also be summoned as a witness."
"Enough, spare me the lecture." Adrian Chamberlain placed the wine glass on the table, leaning toward him, "Tell Seraphina, she can have my information, but... I have one condition!"
He held up one finger.
"What’s the condition?" Nathan asked.
"I want Seraphina and Ethan Sterling to divorce, and her shares in Zenith surrendered to me."
Nathan sneered, "That’s blackmail."
"Don’t assume I don’t know who you are, Nathan Foster, the great Attorney Foster." Adrian Chamberlain sneered, "You got acquainted with Ethan Sterling abroad, taking this case to help him fight against me, right?"
"I’m only trying to bring justice for Caleb Thorne."
"Justice?! What’s justice?"
Raising his right hand, he downed the wine in one gulp.
Adrian Chamberlain stood up, slamming the glass on the table.
Walking to Nathan, he grabbed him by the collar.
"Don’t think I don’t know why Ethan Sterling married Seraphina. He’s after the shares she holds in Zenith Group, wanting to use it to establish his position in Jadeston, to compete with his half-brother for family assets. In the end, he’s no better than me. At least... I truly care for Seraphina!"
With a sneer, Adrian Chamberlain pushed Nathan away.
"Go back and tell the Sterling guy, I’m no Seraphina, I won’t be played round and round, selling myself and still counting money for others. Ethan Sterling wants to fight me, I’ll fight him to the end!"
Adrian Chamberlain opened the door and walked out of the bar’s private room.
Nathan picked up the wine Adrian Chamberlain poured for him, sipping it slowly.
He took out his phone and dialed his assistant.
"Check the information for me, how many shares Ethan Sterling holds in Zenith now."
"Ethan Sterling holds 23% of Zenith Shares, but after marrying Miss Seraphina, the 10% she held has been entrusted to him, so... his actual holdings amount to 33%! Is there a problem?"
"I understand now."
Nathan hung up, brows furrowed.
Facing the current situation of the Thorne Family, Seraphina had just broken off her engagement with the Chamberlain Family and hurriedly married Ethan Sterling.
No wedding, no ceremony for their marriage.
Even her closest brother Caleb Thorne didn’t know of Ethan Sterling’s existence.
No matter how one thought about it, it seemed odd.
Could it be...
Adrian Chamberlain was telling the truth.
Ethan Sterling married Seraphina for business interests?
