Married to the loveless CEO-Chapter 92: Friend of comfort
"Why...Why did you want us to stop seeing each other?" Logan asked.
He had paid Sentencia a visit, of course he didn’t give a damn what Fi would say or do. Honestly, Logan didn’t know why he came. For some reason he just couldn’t stop thinking about her, he just wanted to see her.
They were at her house and they both sat at a couch.
"Well...I didn’t want to let you lavish time and money on our dates when I know I still don’t have feelings for you nor do I want to be your girlfriend," Cia answered.
"Ouch," Logan responded and they both shared a small laugh.
"I thought it was about something else, you know...the fact that I’m part of the syndicate," he mentioned but she shook her head.
"Do you want to see me now? Am...I allowed to see you again?" he asked.
After that night, that night which she saw his pain- Yes! She can’t simply bear the thought of seeing him like that even though she barely knew him. It wasn’t pity, for some reason she just feels the need to comfort him.
"So you broke my heart before finishing the dates and breaking my heart. Is it really inevitable?" he added when she didn’t respond for some while.
"If you put it that way," she shrugged.
"Okay. No more outspoken dates, I’ll woo you in any way I can and at every given opportunity I get till you fall for me," he replied, his words were making her to flush red.
She stood up, "Are you sure you really don’t want anything to drink?"
"No, I’m good," he responded.
"Okay, will you like to go on a walk or something? I just feel like taking a stroll," she told.
"Okay then," he stood up as well.
"Let me just get changed," she informed and walked upstairs after he nodded at her.
She came back soon, she wasn’t wearing much, something casual- A white short sleeve polo top, which was curved neck, some blue jeans and a big brown coat accompanied with brown boots, but his eyes just fixated on her as she approaches him.
He was standing close to the door, "It kinda cold," she began.
"Yeah," he replied, his hands reached for her glasses as it was a little slipping down towards her nose. He brought it back upwards and their eyes held each other’s in silence for some while.
’How can she still look so pretty in those glasses?’ he thought, it made her even more cute and adorable in his eyes.
"Uhm... you should put on your suit jacket," Cia broke the silence.
"Ah no need," he replied as she gave him a step away from her.
He was on a black suit but he held his suit jacket in his left arm, he was just on a black long sleeve t-shirt.
"You think you look so hot not wearing the jacket, you are just going to get a cold," she commented with a grin.
"What can I say? I’m a very handsome man," he responded and she laughed.
"Okay, shall we?" she inquired and they were soon out of the house. They started strolling on the streets, just few people and cars were seen.
"Did I say much on that day? That day when I was drunk?" he asked as they continued to walk. She turned her head to face him and he was already staring at her.
"Not really, you fell asleep right after you said something about being a loser when it comes to the people you love because... you have lost a lot of people you loved- Your family," she was finding it hard to say all these to him.
He turned away, "Did I mention how I had lost them?"
"No," she replied.
"My real parents, I lost them due to a plane crash. I didn’t have any siblings," he found himself opening up to her.
"Logan? You don’t have to tell me if you feel uncomfortable about it," Cia told.
"It’s okay," he responded.
"I was adopted by my foster family, I decided to bear their surname. I had two younger siblings, they all treated me like family and made me feel like one. I soon slowly forgot the pain I felt when I lost my real parents.
"But my new found home just had to be taken away from me. They were all assassinated, maybe I would be dead by now if I was there," he explained.
"Who would do such a thing?" Sentencia asked softly.
"Fi?" Logan creased his brows angrily.
Cia glanced at him again, "What?"
"Whether you believe me or not, I think either him or his syndicate group had a hand in it," Logan replied.
"I...I don’t think Fi is capable of doing such a thing," she responded.
He scoffed, "Well I was expecting you would take his side. I don’t think you know what a ruthless person like himself is capable of,"
"I know him. He might be ruthless, he might have killed a lot but I don’t think he is capable of taking the life of the family of a friend," Cia responded.
He smiled, there’s no way he can change her mind on that. "Do you think I am?"
"Would you like any one to go through the kind of pain that you went through when you lost your family?" she asked.
"..."
"My thoughts exactly, so I don’t think you are capable of such. Massacring a whole family, even the young ones, have you done it before?" she questioned.
He has ended the bloodline of a family before, multiple times, but it was made of grown up men without women and he hasn’t killed a youngster before.
"No." he responded.
"Well I didn’t tell you this to point fingers or for you to pity me. I just...I don’t know," he shrugged. She came to stand in front of him and so they stopped walking.
"It’s okay. I understand you, I lost my parents too and though I had guardians who took care of me which I’m grateful for, it still doesn’t feel the same. From now on, I’m your friend of comfort. We can see each other Logan and I’ll comfort you whenever you need it," she uttered.
He smiled- He loved the way his name rolls out of her tongue, he held her hand and brought her to stand close to a pole which held a streetlight. He held the pole as he leaned closer. She pursed her lips as he moved closer, ’What’s wrong with him?’ she thought.
"But I..." he started, his voice so husky all of a sudden. His index finger brought her chin a little upwards so that their eyes could meet.
Her heart started to race, ’But you what?’ she thought.
"But I...I want you to be more than my friend of comfort," he grinned at her, loving the way he had her on her toes.
Her ears and cheeks burned red as he whispered the words. His eyes went to her alluring lips, he...he felt an urge to kiss her. She slip out of his entrapment, "Well..." she voiced, trailing off as she walks backwards because she turned to face him.
"Cia!" he called as she was walking backwards towards a meeting point between two of the streets roads, a car drove on a very high speed from the other street.
"Huh?" Sentencia uttered on his call as she turned the upper part of her body slightly forward to see the car already approaching her with full speed.
Logan grabbed her arm and drew her quickly towards himself. Her body hit on his, the car drove off without hitting her but the owner didn’t even think or care to stop and just continued speeding off.
She held her chest, her heart was hammering violently against her rib cage. That was close. As her head rests on his chest while she tried to catch her breath, she discovered that it wasn’t just her heart that had skipped at just the thought of the car hitting her.
Logan’s heart was also racing, he thought the car was really going to hit her, it was a good thing he was fast enough.
She stared up at him;
"Be more careful next ti-" she cut the words out of his mouth as she hugged him.
"Thank you," she mumbled into his chest.
She stopped hugging him and turned towards the road not knowing the kind of effect that one hug just did to Logan.
"Who was that maniac anyway? You almost killed me!!!" she yelled at the direction the car went.
Logan huffed, the driver was already far gone. The driver was lucky he didn’t get to see his or her face as the glass was tinted, if not he would have dealt with the person.
He turned towards Cia, he didn’t know when he started caring for the doctor like this.
Was this really a coincidence or was it planned? Judging from the kind of life he led, he won’t be surprised if it was planned.
