Chapter 76: Is he jealous?!

Sage entered the dining room, warmly and beautifully dressed, lost in thought.

Cyrus sat at the far end, and Arthur, who appeared to be in good health, sat on the opposite side, eating hungrily.

Cyrus locked his gaze on her as she approached his side and stood still, lost in thought. He drew out a chair, and she sat slowly.

"Sage." She gasped out of her thoughts when Arthur called.

"Arthur!" With a bright smile, she exclaimed, seeing how healthy and handsome he was. "You are doing fine!"

Arthur smiled at her with what appeared to be a blush. "You do not need to be concerned." He burst out laughing.

Cyrus, who was watching their interaction, was frowning. "Did you just refer to her as Sage?" His voice was deep and menacing.

Arthur, who had a piece of meat in his mouth, choked when Cyrus spoke. He jumped out of his chair, hitting his chest and choking.

"Arthur!" Sage became terrified and rushed towards him.

Cyrus frowned deeply as Sage approached Arthur with the intent of wrapping her arms around her. Cyrus threw a piece of meat from his plate directly at Arthur’s neck before she could wrap her arms around him.

The meat became stuck in his throat and forced its way into his stomach, causing him to stumble and almost fall on Sage, who quickly avoided him and watched him fall to the ground.

Cyrus smirked and popped some meat into his mouth. "Pathetic," he grumbled.

"Oh my! Are you okay?" Sage inquired, concerned.

"One hundred percent!" Arthur coughed nervously and smiled.

"What is going on between you two?" Cyrus growled, slamming the table so hard that it split in two.

Sage flinched in surprise, while Arthur stood up and bowed his head to Cyrus.

"Your Majesty, it is not what you think." Arthur stumbled.

"We are good friends! Nothing else!" Sage exclaimed excitedly, but Cyrus’ frown deepened.

’Oh, my goodness! Is he jealous?!’ Sage exclaimed in her head.

Cyrus took a plate from the shattered table, patiently placed enough food on it, stood up, and walked towards Sage.

"When you are done, meet me in the library." He told her while handing her the plate of food, which she slowly collected as she watched him walk away.

"The ice dragon is jealous!" Arthur exclaimed quietly and smiled at Sage. "Are we really friends?" He inquired eagerly.

Sage returned her smile. "We are!" She burst out laughing.

Arthur motioned for Sage to take a seat, which she did. He inhaled deeply as he stood in front of her.

"Ask me any questions you have about His Highness, and I will answer them!" He unexpectedly stated.

Sage’s eyes widened. "Really?!" She had no idea he’d say that.

Arthur nodded. "Come on! Ask!"

"What do you know about his mother?"

"Queen Aurora Dragos died during childbirth." Arthur responded, and the stunned sage nodded slowly.

"His father?"

"Died along with the other ice dragons."

She cleared her throat and forced a smile. "Why are you so devoted to him?" She enquired.

Arthur’s grin broadened. "He rescued me from the clutches of the Firerian dragons. My village was on the border between Anitca and Fireria, but for some reason, King Rodion wanted to expand his kingdom by eradicating my village. A massacre occurred, and I attempted to protect my family, but they were killed."

"In the end, Cyrus saved you." Sage was taken aback. The ice dragon had a some good in him.

"Yes, but after everything, he wanted to abandon me, but I told him I wanted to serve him. He refused at first, but after I fought with Prince River, he agreed." Arthur responded, ending his sentence with a small laugh.

Sage ate her food while Arthur entertained her. "Did you succeed?" She inquired, her eyes wide with curiosity.

"No." Arthur burst out laughing. "Prince River is an accomplished warrior. Since they could walk, he and his twin sister Ophelia have been trained to be strong warriors." He elaborated.

"They sound powerful and intriguing." Sage grinned as she ate her meal.

"Fireria is far more organised than Anitca. Because of the presence of the entire Viadislav family, the castle system is flawless. Cyrus had to give positions to prominent fire dragons after the ice dragons were wiped out, but half of them turned against him, causing him to kill them." Arthur explained sadly.

Sage exhaled a sigh. "They were all working for Esteban?" she inquired.

"Majority yes, minority thought they could kill him to take over the throne," Arthur laughed. "I am sure you are aware that his majesty is not your average ice dragon." He added, a little nervously.

"His dark state." Sage gave a nod.

"Damn! Sage, you are an excellent listener!" Arthur expressed his admiration.

Sage laughed nervously. Arthur was a cheerful person who reminded her of herself before she married.

She lowered her head and focused her attention on her empty plate. "Arthur," she said.

"Yes?" Arthur inquired, perplexed as to why Sage had collapsed.

"Would you mind advising me?" Sage suddenly inquired.

"Yes, I am a very good advisor." Arthur said confidently.

"Should I stay with Cyrus? I am sure you know why he married me."

"To take your life force." Arthur whispered, and she raised her head to look at him, her gaze fixed on him, waiting for his advice.

Arthur’s face became solemn, as if he had never smiled in his entire life. "It is a choice you must make for yourself, my Queen; think why you want to stay with him and why you do not want to stay with him." He spoke in a solemn tone.

Sage nodded slowly and returned her gaze to her plate. Arthur’s type of person was dangerous. Sage hoped she wouldn’t meet anyone who smiled while killing horribly.

"All right," she sighed, looking up to see Arthur smiling brightly again.

"You appear to be bothered by something. May I inquire to see if I can assist?" He inquired.

Sage stood up and looked at the shattered table, which still had food on it. She inhaled deeply as she clutched the empty plate in her hand.

"I need you to find a family named Adrelean." She breathed deeply.

Arthur’s lips parted, and just as he was about to say something, the white nine-tailed fox walked into the dinning room, his eyes in their silver reptile-like form and threatening, and it was exactly the look Cyrus would give him if he was present, which meant Cyrus had sent the fox.

"I will find out, My Queen," Arthur said quietly, keeping eye contact with the nine-tailed fox.
