Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 63: Fun snow
"Ugh! Why? Ow! Ow!" Sage groaned continuously as she walked out of the mansion, Cyrus close behind her.
They were dressed warmly for the winter. Sage was dressed in a thick baby pink thigh-length gown and trousers that matched the furry white boot on her feet. Cyrus dressed all in white to match his hair.
He stood behind her as she made her way to the open but cloudy sky.
"Interesting as usual." Cyrus smiled and turned to the door to see Venus, Ares and Snowflake behind him.
"Snowflake stay." He told the nine tailed fox who snarled at him. "Do not snarl at me, watch over the mansion and Arthur." Cyrus spoke nonchalantly and turned back attention to his wife who was now squatting and taking deep breaths.
She had emotionally blackmailed him by using his dislike of seeing her tears against him. Even though he could heal her stomach ache, he would just give her medication, but he decided to punish her by telling her that he couldn’t heal a stomach ache and that there were no medicines in the mansion. She seemed to want to have fun at any cost, which had led them to this point.
"Stubborn parrot," he mused, smiling.
Sage exhaled a sigh of relief and straightened up as her stomach felt better. She then looked at Cyrus, who was smiling at her.
"Do not just stand there, let’s go!" She told him.
"Where?" Cyrus asked and placed his hands in his pockets.
Sage looked behind her; the mansion had no gates and appeared to be in the middle of nowhere. Nothing but snow and trees ahead... forest.
"I told you Empire City was deserted; there isn’t even a sign of a city." Cyrus’ voice came closer, causing her to jolt and turn to face him, almost falling backwards.
Cyrus wrapped his arm around her and drew her in close, pressing their bodies against each other.
Sage noticed his ice blue eyes flashing with silver, and the emotions in his eyes gradually becoming understandable. She was relieved to see fear, worry, and, of course, lust in his eyes the other night. She couldn’t deny that she wanted to see and understand more because it seemed like Cyrus was always trying to hide his emotions, and even when he failed, he would somehow make it unreadable and difficult to understand.
"You look beautiful." Cyrus whispered.
"I have never been ugly." Sage said, her voice small and light than expected.
"Are you sure?" Cyrus teased and released her.
"Yes, hundred percent." Sage said confidently and pouted while he smiled and shook his head.
"Let’s go to the forest." She suddenly said and sprinted away at once.
Cyrus looked at his panthers, who were now behind him, and then at Snowflake, who was glaring at him from the mansion’s entrance.
"Do not glare at me," he growled at the nine-tailed fox, turning his gaze to Sage, who was now only faintly visible and still running.
Saw arrived in the forest and came to a halt, placing her hands on her knees and breathing heavily. She had run so fast that she was confident Cyrus would not catch up, at least not at that moment.
"Does your stomach still hurt?" When she heard him ask, she gasped in surprise and turned to face him.
She wanted to scream when she saw the demon panthers by his side, but she controlled herself and asked, "Why are they here?"
"They have to be," Cyrus said solemnly.
"But I wanted us to be alone." She became enraged.
"Oh?" Cyrus tilted his head to the side. "Do you want us to do it here?" He inquired unexpectedly.
Sage blushed with embarrassment. "What are you thinking?!?" He chuckled deeply as she yelled.
"Just having you stand in front of me, parrot, makes me think of all the dirty things I could do. I am a fifthly creature after all, according to you," He spoke calmly, without hesitation, and his deep voice rang in her ears.
Sage felt her body heat up and cleared her throat. "Get rid of those thoughts and let’s have some fun." She told him and smiled excitedly.
Cyrus’ smile quickly faded. "Are you certain you’d rather have fun than rest your stomach?" Cyrus asked, hoping she’d reconsider.
Sage shrugged her shoulders. "My stomach feels better, and the way you say the word "Fun" makes it sound like we are about to start a bloody battle," She said, pouting.
Cyrus let out a long sigh. "Where do I start?" Sage’s face lit up when he asked.
She immediately bent down, scooped snow into her hands, rolled it into a ball, and flung it directly at his face, but thankfully he dodged the attack just as she blinked.
Sage burst out laughing and Cyrus was clearly offended. "What kind of fun is that?!" He yelled.
Sage paused her laughter and looked at him nervously. "Snowball fight," she replied.
"Hm?" Cyrus eyebrows rose. "You mean this is a game? Turning snow into balls and throwing them at your opponent until they are dead?" He asked making it sound like it was indeed a war.
Sage face palmed herself and rubbed her face muttering curses. "It is not like that, not to death." She didn’t know how to explain it to him but she was going to try her best. "This is going to be difficult." She breathed.
Cyrus sighed, knelt, scooped snow into his hands, formed it into a ball, and hurled it directly at Sage’s face.
Sage, who had not anticipated that action, froze.
As the snow fell off her face, Cyrus stared at her and chewed his lower lip, waiting for her reaction.
"This is actually entertaining." He laughed.
Sage couldn’t believe what she was hearing and was relieved.
She laughed. "All right then," she said, bending and scooping snow once. "Let the battle begin!" She yelled and began throwing snowballs at him.
Cyrus dodged the ball and threw it at her whenever he could. He felt liberated, like a child again, and knew it was a memory he would never forget.
"Incoming!" Sage screamed and hurled a snowball at him. He couldn’t avoid the attack this time, and Sage burst out laughing.
As snow fell off his face, he frowned deeply and fired a blasted out of his hands and into the trees behind him, transforming them into nothing more than solidified ice trees.
Sage scratched her head nervously as she laughed. "I do not think this is a game for you."
"I do not either." Cyrus grumbled and rubbed his chin.
Sage burst out laughing and pointed at him. To her, he appeared adorable, and it was a rare sight to see the ice dragon having fun.
Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her stomach and gasped, placing her hand on her stomach.
Cyrus rushed up to her and grabbed her. "Enough fun for today, it is time to rest." He said this as he carried her into his arms, burying her face in his chest.
"No, it is too early."
