Chapter 46: Overprotective Mirabella

Sage’s face flushed with embarrassment, almost as bright as her hair.

Her eyes twitched, her lips quivered, and she squealed dramatically, closing her eyes shut and covering her ears with her hands.

"No, no, no, stay away, stay away!" She yelled angrily and took a few steps away from him.

His presence made her body feel hot, and his voice and words made it feel even hotter.

"Words that make no sense, that is what you’re spewing!" She yelled at him and blinked her eyes open.

Cyrus nodded, her spine chilling with a devious smile.

"Is that so, parrot?" He inquired, his voice huskier and his expression sinister.

Sage swallowed hard, turned away, and dashed towards the door, holding the handle and pulling it but it wouldn’t budge. She yanked it hard, but it was locked, and she started screaming like she was being chased by a monster.

Cyrus stood there, hands in his coat pockets, staring at his parrot, who was pulling the door handle hysterically.

She actually looked cute as she struggled with the door. Her stunned expression as she yanked on the handle made him shake his head.

"Calm down and bend the handle, dear parrot," his soothing deep voice echoed in the room.

Sage’s mind felt weak, and she almost had an eargasm.

Swallowing hard, she did as he said, bent the handle, and pushed the door open.

"Oh!" She exclaimed, feeling as dumb as a rock, then looked back at him to see him staring at her with a soft expression.

She immediately felt shy and ran out of the room, closing the door loudly behind her and exhaling a deep breath.

"Breathe, Sage," she muttered to herself.

Meanwhile, Cyrus, who was in the room, let out a deep chuckle and glared at his nine-tailed fox, who was also glaring at him.

"Naive as usual, but it still makes me feel unusual." He sighed deeply to Snowflake.

"Of course she does." A feminine voice giggled in the room, and Cyrus frowned, his eyes changing into their silver reptile form.

"Do not expect me to welcome you," he growled.

"I do not expect you to welcome me, my son, but I do expect you to forgive me. The human is no longer alive; she begged me to end her life after I exited her body. She eventually decided that she would rather die than marry Esteban." The voice laughed.

"Hm?" Cyrus clicked his tongue, sat on the bed, and carried the nine-tailed fox on his laps. "Do you think the fire mage prefers that as well?" He asked, caressing Snowflake’s gleaming white fur.

"It is unusual for you to be concerned about what others think of you." Cyrus rolled his eyes as the voice giggled.

"Enough! You have seen her face, haven’t you? Return to the mansion; you are weakening your spirit." Cyrus half-yelled.

"Do not be so concerned; I will. I am so glad my son genuinely cares about me." The voice said happily, and Cyrus forced a painful smile.

"Of course I do, you are my mother." He muttered and sighed deeply, raking his fingers through his hair. "Now go back." He continued in hushed tones.

"Very well, take care of her, my son,"

Cyrus hummed and closed his eyes.

...

Sage arrived at the entrance to the throne room.

Guards and maids alike bowed their heads as they passed her.

She wondered why the castle was so busy.

When she entered the throne room, Mirabella was glaring at a maid who was kneeling on the ground cleaning a small pool of blood.

"Hurry up!" Mirabella yelled at the maid and turned her attention to Sage, who was looking around.

"Hello, my queen, you look fine and healthy," she said, sarcastically.

"What happened here?" Sage inquired, his gaze fixed on the maid wiping the blood from the ground.

"What do you think happened?" Mirabella inquired, smiling.

"Cyrus." Sage muttered."

"Oh my! You already know him so well!" Mirabella exclaimed, her voice sarcastic.

Sage frowned, trying not to lash out at Mirabella, who seemed to be mocking her for some unknown reason.

"Have a nice day." Sage told her and turned away.

"How do you feel? Your so-called father stabbed you." Sage came to a halt when she unexpectedly said.

"It isn’t your concern, Mirabella; you do not care, and teasing me will only enrage me." Sage spoke through her teeth.

Mirabella burst into laughter. "Do you think I am afraid of you?"

Sage turned to face her and inquired, "Did I do something to you? And, yes, you should be terrified of me." Her eyes turned a fiery red.

Mirabella clenched her fist and forced a smile. "I apologise, I guess I am still affected by the grief of my sister, who is still in the dungeon." She stated calmly.

Sage rolled her eyes. "I do not care; if Cyrus wants to save her life, he will." She spoke.

Mirabella nodded. "Do you have a place in your heart for him?" She inquired, then continued with a deep growl. "Hear my warning: he will kill you in the end for your fire core."

Mirabella had no effect on Sage in the slightest. But she was disappointed because she expected Mirabella to be calm, understanding, and collected like Katherine.

"You know?" Sage inquired, unsurprised. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"I am not as stupid as you!" Mirabella yelled at Sage.

"You despise the fire mage and want to die young." Ashton laughed as he entered the throne room.

Sage frowned at him.

He was quite attractive and exuded a dark, threatening aura.

"Cyrus’ parrot, stay away from her." Ashton told Sage with a smile.

Sage stormed out of the throne room without replying, and Ashton glared murderously at Mirabella, who scoffed and crossed her arms across her chest."

"Being overprotective of Cyrus will not get you anywhere. She is his wife, not you." Ashton said this as if to remind her, then turned away and walked out of the room.

Mirabella inhaled deeply and closed her eyes. "I know."
